Riding the best all-round motorcycle of all time! The legendary Honda VFR 750 RC36
มุมมอง 20K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In my opinion the best VFR and even all-round everyday motorcycle, of all time! To me this feels like Honda's V4 racing days (with the RC30) but wrapped in an ergonomic packaging yet fit for display in any modern art gallery. I can't think of any other racing platform that was so successfully appropriated for the long road... and twisties! Taking my stock 1995 VFR 750 F2 | RC36 for a spirited r...
Suzuki GSX-R 750 W | OEM Restore Part 1

I've strayed from the path of the honda-man but sometimes true love can't be ignored. The heart wants what the heart wants and it wanted a 1993 Suzuki GSXR 750 W in eye watering coke fueled livery. So as soon as hell froze over my wife agreed that another bike was a GREAT idea! Go figure... A special thanks to Yacko the clown. What a clown. #bikes #gsxr #rebuild #countersteer Credit goes to: th...

At last! Behold! I've managed to get my a$$ in gear and wrap up the first part of my beloved 2001 RC51 Sp1 restore. The RVT1000R (VTR1000 SP1) is truly a special homologation machine from the boys and girls at Honda. Although in pretty good shape for her age there were some minor issues & chinks in the 'ol armor. Even a couple items that needed to be fabricated. The perfect cure for that winter...

Honda CBR900RR Fireblade | First Edition (Stock restoration 1/3)
มุมมอง 41K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I was crazy excited to get my hands on a low VIN, 1992 first production year Honda CBR900RR N Fireblade ... A bike that changed the landscape of superbikes when it launched back in the day. It was one hell of a journey (as usual) to restore this iconic classic to it's former glory. With lots of aftermarket parts and mods "installed" but luckily with only minor accident damage and scrapes. It al...
Hallo einen lieben Gruß aus Deutschland. Du machst die alten schönen Fahrzeuge wieder wie neu immer herrlich deine Videos anzusehen. So einen schönen Fuhrpark an Motorrädern möchte ich auch wohl haben.
Where are you? We demand content!
I’m around!!! Just made many, many babies that need much time to suckle. I’ll find my way back one day promise!
"Many babies" means less money for bikes! You fool! Show us the workshop. It must be completed by now?
I just traveled 2000 miles to pick up a good cbr900 candidate for minor restoration. My question is, how can you determine what decal/color scheme the bike originally came with and what combinations were exclusive to European or North American markets? There seem to be so many. Why does the red black color scheme available in 1996 seem to offer both a white or all black tail? That is literally the only difference. So many questions!!
Awesome! If memory serves there’s a decal on the frame under the seat with the original paint code number. Google that and all will be revealed…
@counter-steer awesome, thank you!
Are u alive dawg? Post more videos
Hey ho! Itching to get back to it… I got busy and lazy at the same time!!!
I think i had the same blade colour, yours have a gold tank?
Right on! Mine was a basket case… previous owner rattled-canned the whole thing mat black with some gorgeous neon pink accents. I rebuilt and painted it but the tank top ended up silver/charcoal colour.
@@counter-steer weird decision, this is probably the least common and imo the classiest colour scheme on the 93 blade. Seen dozens of white ones over the years, and they look great, but I never saw my black and gold on any other blade.
Yeah, it gets weirder as it’s a rare ‘92 only released in Canada and Europe. The plan is to fix the tank color one day… I absolutely love the black version of the first blades.
I usually don't hoard bikes, but when I do, it's buying two RC51s.
2:18 That downshift was 🤤🤤🤤
Giddy up!
Hey man, bike looks good as new, i just got myself a dismantled 1992, would you mind sharing the websites where you found all the necessary parts? Appreciate it
Awesome, congrats! I leaned heavily on CMSNL... that being said they're not cheap. Also ebay and David Silver spares and the usual suspects.
Nothing short of genius!!!!!!!
I try!
Also got a red 1995, through more than 12 years. I love it too !
Awesome, 12 years is a good start!
Very nicely done! 👏 How did you restore the top triple clamp? I have two that need refinishing.
Found a good used one online and just swapped them out... I'm sure it can be done though.
Sorry! As a motorcycle mechanic for 40 years it's hands down the VFR800 FI Fifth generation!
I did love my 800fi… great bikes and the throttle response is better than the 750 but for me it just feels less nimble with the wider body & side rads.
Awesome my friend! I also hava a 1995, red. My problem now is the cables, I need a throttle cable... My question for you is if you know some cable compatible with this bike because the original one made by suzuki is very hard to find here on the country that I am living right now
You should be able to get a generic cable made up or find something online? Nothing specific about it as far as I recall...
I had both, this Gen. 4, 750cc version, and the Gen. 5, 800cc version. I liked the 800 better, mostly because it was fuel injected and anything with a carburetor is a problem waiting to happen. After that Honda lost me when they forsook gear driven cams on the VFR platform and added V-Tech valves. The added mechanical complexity just didn't appeal to me, and the weird, "turbo-like" burst of power that came on at the most inopportune moments was unsettling.
I hear ya! Vtec is where they lost the plot. I prefer the 750 F2 to the 800 fi because it’s a bit closer to that RC30 magic. The 800 interceptor’s a great bike and I loved mine but found it less of a thrill at high revs & in the twisties. If I had to go touring I’d probably go for the 800 though.
@@counter-steer My '94 750 got totaled when it pitched me off during a 6th gear, near WOT tank slapper while I was wheelieing over a nice rise in a favorite high-speed stretch of road in the boonies. Thank goodness for my Aerostich Roadcrafter suit, which definitely saved me from what otherwise would have been my second case of bone deep, full-body road rash.
Had one 1996 model from year 2001 it was a good bike but the fairing is shit and make the bike not stabile in high speed had one honda Cbr600 1993 that bike is much better for everything
Great content......inspiring myself to go shopping for another project.
Bloody well done. Just picking up a mint 99 myself from Ontario to AB. Should be getting it by next week!
Awesome like the sauce!
The Rc51 are great for what they ( I’ve had 2) are but even in their day we’re a bit heavy and underpowered. With the prices today it’s hard for me to rationalize considering the rotax powered Tuono or rsvr or 990 Superduke Will bring the same level or better of performance and even riding experience for a lot less cash You just don’t get the wine from the Gear drive cams.
How's it going with the bike?
Funny you should ask! Just sold at auction… needs must
Music 🤔😤
That bike was a dream back when I was in high school. I rode a 93 Nighthawk 750 and then a 919 (Hornet). The RC51 was an insane level of performance for it's day.
Still got the torque to put a smile on MY dial
Short shifting, ride like a single small bore
Nicky Hayden was Not Texas Tornado
Yup, just mentioning both legends in one breath
The new euro fighter has two spi engines strapped to its wings. I just strap mine to my arse .
I just bought a 2006 rc51 today. Advice?
Yes! Get off the internet and go for a ride ;)
Crazy how it maintains exactly 60mph whilst going up the revs 😀
It’s an optical illusion 😂
LMAO. He's ensuring he doesn't self-implicate for speeding.
Excellent videography and storytelling! I'm really enjoying this series 👌
Loved making it!
Top job 👏👏👏
Yeah, nice. Some will argue that the Gen 5 is the better bike because but I've always preferred this one. Makes little difference - they're both great...
Exacto! Having owned and loved a 5th Gen I can tell you it's pretty close. I loved the throttle response of the Fi but the 4th Gen just feels more nimble and the engine's a little more exciting with the higher redline. For long distances and daily commute I'd probably agree on the 5th Gen... but on looks and pure joy to ride... 4's got my vote!
I love thumpers, since 1972, have a 540cc single racer, A pro build 89 gt650. And my 01 RC51. On the the race track, i am more comfortable with tq power control than 18k rpm power. The 916, SV1000 were on the list with the RC. Life span of equipment, quality, type of equipment, price. The Dukes are very nice, the quality Honda is better, when a engine taken care can go 120k miles with very little real maintenance. Honda hit the bullseye with this bike. Cheers
Exacto, Honda for the win!
Bro, the Texas Tornado is Colin Edwards, not Nicky Haden.
Yup, I just mentioned them both!
I love mine going on almost 24 years best bike ever
That bike was already like new. Great video
Thanks man, any excuse to do a refresh / restore!
My brother’s first bike was an 89 VFR. My dad has a 91, 98, and two 04s right now…. And I have been riding for two years so far, and my bike is a 95. I think we like VFRs. Best bike out there.
Making some good choices over there!
Nice work and exellent bike
Thanks ✌️
Have one of these as a track bike Repsol colours I am a shit rider but this baby let me go around the track as fast as most in the novice class I was 60 so give me a bit of slack ??? Now at 70 still on the road version All I can say after 50 odd years of riding you will not get a better bike very very reliable not bad to look at a little dated perhaps but let me say this!! This bike will out perform the average rider in other words if you ride the I.O.M. T.T. then ok it might be slow but for you and me its bloody quick and comfy. I bought a Bema 1200G.S. because they are in vouge but what a pile of shit that was over priced let me down several times and as heavy as a Sherman tank. So to any budding rider be you 16/20/30/40/50/60/70/80 get a V.F.R. you will have fun and it will never ever break the bank what more do you want ???? Stay safe and ride safe for God sake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well said!
Nice job! good work on the tail! keep it coming!!❤
love it man!! good job!!
Love your vid!! I am kicking myself for selling mine!! What SP3!? need to get it!😍😍 more info please!!😍😍
SP3 is very rare, they only made 0. I have a full spec sheet here but if I tell you they'd have to kill me ;p
Holy fck!! Shes peeeerfect!!
Great footage. Terrible music choices. It makes me despair that such a lack of taste is so endemic in North America nowadays.
My ignorance amuses me.
I have a 2001 VFR. 520 conversion chain 2 up rear sprocket really wakes her up. Givi wind screen with x-tra on top, excellent wind protection. ABM straight bar. Very comfortable. Yoshimura exhaust. I can cruise triple digits all day long. I also changed the steering stem bearings to tapered . The longer I own and ride this bike it really grows on a guy. I'm 65 as long as I can throw my leg over, keep on.
Right on! I had a red 2001 about 15 years ago... absolutely loved it.
you have done a great job on the bike it looks sooooo sweet enjoy
Thanks 👍
V4 sound is a music....
This bike is so amazing, it inspired me to make my TH-cam channel ❤️🔥
Awesome sauce! Definitely a good subject for any kind of filming… and riding… and everything in-between.
Regretted selling mine in 05 bought same bike back in 07 - owned same bike 11 years. awesome machine
This is my Holy Grail motorcycle. I just found one and I bring it home tomorrow and would like to also do a full restoration. I would love to bend your ear for tips!!! Great video series you did here! 🙌🏻🫵🏻
Awesome, congrats! They’re getting harder to find for sure… Ask away!
@@counter-steer are you on messenger or IG?
Life’s too busy for messenger but ask and I’ll tell!
@counter-steer I notice in a portion of your video you received a bunch of oem honda parts for your bike. Do you have a website link for the supplier? Also I was not able to find one with a complete fairing set so I'm looking at the aftermarket sets from China. I'm curious if you've had any experience with those and are able to comment on the quality of them. Thank you for your time. I appreciate it.
No worries! Parts are from CMSNL… it’s a outfit in the Netherlands that has a ton of old Honda NOS parts. Not cheap but they have free shipping. Fairings you will have to find used on ebay or Facebook groups. I have no experience with the Chinese plastics… great for race bikes but you’ll loose a lot of resale value on these classic bikes.
Lovely GSXR you have ❤ check out my original GSXR 400;jap import 💯💎👍
Please reupload it without the music. The title misled me into thinking I could appreciate the sound of the bike!
I plan on getting one from this vet that got blown up (he didnt die) for $4,000
