Grinding to Wave 50 in Cyber Grind (PART 19)
Radical changes to my kit. So far, it's been keeping things fresh and fun despite worse performance.
I stepped things down to Violent to get practice.

Starting at wave 20 is a game changer. I'll start exploring how to incorporate rocket riding again soon. Right now, I want to see how far I can get with consistent core nuking added to my arsenal. There's so much tech you've all recommended. I'll try to incorporate it all at some point! Recorded 2024-04-04 12:45:18

How are you liking the jackhammers so far?
Jackhammer go *plink* Very much so! I look forward to using it more. So far, I'm learning to get the whiplash timing down better, hitting core ejects more consistently, and also reminding myself to use the impact momentum to put me in more advantageous positions rather than straight up.
nice vid, as a tip, try not to waste all of your magnets on one hideous mass, but spread the extra ones out so that the conductor and saws get more range
Thanks! Hadn't thought of that, so I'll give it a shot.
so there i was, grinding the cyber
She grind on my cyber until I ULTRAKILL
Dope run, you're just a wave ahead of me! Is that shotgun swapping just switch variation after firing? I should be using it
Thank you! Shotgun swapping is easy. Hold left click while switching variation immediately after it fires. Does wonders for Swordsmachine.
Really needs practice the Insurrectionist alone in sandbox
Agreed. I'm not great at going solo against them. Them and Ferrymen I struggle with a lot.
i pray for your mental sanity and know that your therapist is getting richer for every second of this video

Honestly huge respect for ya for being so dedicated in cyber grind. You're getting better each day keep it up!
Thanks! I'll keep doing my best!

Never stood a chance
YO! This is a super sick run, I have a tip about chargebacks for sentries though! Right when the flash starts, throw the coin- like FRAME flash, it gives a nice visual indicator along with audio (which is also super helpful but it can be reliable without audio too) Throw the coin with a super low arc- every time you throw the coin, it’ll move up and out, if you throw it while looking lower, it won’t go as high and the timing will be more consistent. Also, the coin will spend more time directly between you and the enemy if you’re throwing it with a low arc because it follows more of a straight line (albeit, for less long, but its 1000% worth it). I usually look 15-30 degrees below sentries as I do this And this is more for sentries than Maurice’s as a last tip- but look against your movement as you throw the coin. It’ll stay more in-place, and because sentries lock on, it’s momentum sideways being slightly angled will keep it where you WERE, and the sentry will have a much better chance of firing at it. This is super situational and honestly doesn’t work all the time, but it can occasionally spur into one of the coolest kills you’ve ever done Also, core ejects shot into Maurice beams is the equivalent to a malrail nuke, for free. The core eject always follows the same momentum so practicing a single timing and angle is all that’s needed. In any case all of your other skills are better than mine but I just wanted to let you know more about chargebacking! GL on your Ultrakill journey (PS- this is just something else I personally saw, but you might be able to get higher freshness bonuses if you switch pistols more when doing those single coin punch combos.)
Thanks for the advice. I want to get better with chargebacks. I'm noob enough that I need to practice in the sandbox for it. Although I'll keep the Maurice core nuke in mind. And yeah, I need to use the other revolvers more.
thought you had custom bind lol, anyhow you can try mine q - revolver: ring finger, combo starter e - shotgun: index finger, easier shotgun swap 3 - attractor saw/overheat nail(use any gun as your wish): since this thing has the least synergy, i binded this the furthest away from movement keys c - rail: quick core nuke/rail coin because it will be closest to your thumb(2 fingers faster than one), relieving the stress of the other fingers x - rocket: also using thumb, has little synergy with other but you will need to quick swap for rocket riding eventually v - feedbacker: not recommended lol, i broke my spacebar to the size of other keys so i might as well bind it near my thumb(also i have large palm), with normal keyboard you will find yourself parrying and jumping the same time, missing the parry capslock - knuckle: also not recommended, utilizing pinky finger, though that will takes time to get used to as pinky suffer from stress alot
i save F key for future yellow arm variant, you can use that as well
I use mostly standard binds. Feedbacker and Knuckleblaster are mapped to the side buttons on my mouse. Everything else is standard. I'm too ingrained in it to change now.
@@7ocalhost it will just take time as if you're going to the gym. trust me having a bind for your thumb is big qol change
You play slow as heck
That's why I'm practicing :)
Hey this is really good, I haven't read everyone else's recommendations on other vids but there's a lot you can do easily practicing in sandbox that would help you a lot in cg. Remember there are cheats in sandbox and you can keybind them, like: blind enemies, no recharge on weapons, invincible enemies, etc. First is getting comfortable with weapon swapping, as in switching the weapon (not including the sawblade launcher) immediately after a shot. You can practice this anywhere in ULTRAKILL when you have access to the full arsenal. I didn't realise how effective it was until I realised you could shred a cerberus in like 3.5 seconds doing it. Ideally you would shuffle through the revolvers once, then rocket, then do one or two projectile boosts or regular shots from the shotgun, then another rocket, and distinctly if you're using the alt revolvers then they take a bit more time to refresh while weapon swapping but they do refresh. It's very tricky at first since the shotguns, revolvers and rocket all have different timings for when they can shoot after being equipped (specifically how much faster the rocket launcher shoots upon being equiped vs the shotguns), but it feels so worth once you can start quickly depleting the health of larger enemies. Other Tips: Yeah rocket riding would be cool to learn, good you're already going for that. A super simple combo I'm sure you have seen with the S.R.S cannon is very useful, and you're already doing it without the whiplash on enemies. It's where you whiplash a larger enemy, charge then shoot the cannonball and basically immediately punch it after the first shot hits the enemy. This combo instantly kills cerberus, sentries, virtues, and just does good damage to anything, and it really isn't that hard and extremely consistent after a bit of practice. But yeah it's just implementing the whiplash 'cause you already got the timing down otherwise. Also just for style meter sake, another super simple kill on the enemies of soldiers, schisms and strays is being in the air, whiplashing then instantly rocketing them and dashing out of the resulting red explosion. Would always do this from a distance. Being able to do nukes is very nutty and it's awesome to see you can do it, but their versatility can go even further. With no recharge on in sandbox, just practice hitting a nuke from different firing distances, but mostly smaller ones. More particularly a insta nuke, where you don't let the core charge at all and just fire it with the mal rail as soon as it comes out. They're a lot easier to learn to start with by doing a slam jump and firing underneath you then nuking. I have my mal rail on 2nd slot after the electric rail, so trust me they're very doable even with that. Also overpumps are broken. Essentially with the pump shotgun, if you get it flashing red (3 pumps) you can just dash through the explosion just before you fire. They do a lot damage, instantly killing a virtue after whiplashing right next to it. I always do them in small clumps of swordmachines or cerbs or even on a single mindflayer. Actually if you combine the whiplash cannon combo and the overpump then you instantly kill a mindflayer I think. Edit: This isn't true oml Oh and parrying the red orbs back at a malicious face while whiplashing to them is pretty neat. Aight' there's a bunch of stuff I didn't include but that's probably enough. I have just recently cleared wave 50 and hopefully these tips can help you, good luck getting to wave 50 you can definitely do it! (I can't do a harpoon parry yet lol)
Thanks for taking the time to write this out! I'll keep doing my best! >Sandbox cheats I lab in sandbox when I want to get a little bit of muscle memory going before jumping into the game to practice under pressure >Weapon swapping This is one of my biggest struggles at the moment. I never used number keys to switch weapons in FPS games before playing this game. It's taking a lot of effort. >Rocket riding Soon(tm) >Cannonball+whiplash I've incorporated this a few times, definitely still needs work. I usually end up pushing the ball too far or parry then miss. >Whiplash enemies then shoot with rocket I'm aware I should do this more. I actually have a whole run I uploaded using just the Freezeframe! >Instant core nuking I'll give this a try in sandbox! >Overpumping This is something I've actually been incorporating more instead of just talking about it. Very very helpful in big crowds or clusters of virtues. >Parrying orbs at Maurice Getting better at remembering to do this! >Harpoon parry I don't know how I got halfway consistent with parrying these so quickly, but man is it satisfying.
@@7ocalhostInstead of using number keys to switch weapons, you can try to bind them to other buttons, if you find that more comfortable. For example i use these settings: q - rail cannon e - revolver x - rocket launcher c, 2 - saw launhcer (you can bind two different keys to do one action) left alt - shotgun But it is not too important. There are a lot of good players who use default settings.
I never thought to do that, actually. But at this point I'm too deep into using number keys, plus this skill can be translated to other games.
this man is a god
Women fear me Fish fear me Men turn their eyes Away from me As I walk No beast dare Makes a sound In my presence I am alone on This barren Earth
Congrats on your pb! That last wave was too clunky though but i understand the hype, imo the map was strongly in your favor and that was winnable if you stopped slamming and sneaking in punches so much(parry and win)
Thanks! It came down to panicking and trying to do too many things at once.
What if you Wanted to hit wave 50 but Hakita said AAAAUUUUEEERRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH Very good run! you just lost to bad luck lol I NEVER got a wave that absolutely disgusting in all my time in the cybergrind
Thank you! I'm pretty sure I could have beaten it, but my attention was split too much. At wave 40 I thought "wow I haven't seen many insurrectionists," so this jumpscared me so bad lol.
@@7ocalhost Most of my best runs involve luck with just not getting too many insurectionists (and mindflayers but theyre only bad when theres other annoying enemies) I think the game decided "he's doing too well. Kill him NOW!" with that final wave
Yeah a lot of this run was luck with spawns. Hakita willed my death into existence because I was cookin' too hard. 😔
@@7ocalhost so true
YAY!! congrats on the pb!!! that last wave was kinda fucked tho tbh lol. 3 insurs and i mindflayers is pretty rough to deal with. Good luck with getting to 50! youre so close!!!
Thanks! One day I'll be better at fighting insurrectionists. If the stage wasn't flat I could have used slam storage to focus on the mindflayer away from them. Or even better, I should have just ignored her. I'll keep doing my best!
found a decently consistent way of killing this thing really damn fast, slab piercer right click, into sharpshooter into drill punch, boom its dead. (look up drill punches cause they are really fun to use, helpful with clearing waves of enemies and also just deal loads of damage, the feet punch is also pretty damn cool so you should look into that one too) and it even gives you full hp back, how nice nice kill tho
Thanks! The screwdriver is underrated. I'll have to try that specific kill. Not sure what feet punch is, but I'll take a look.
@@7ocalhost yeah look it up on youtube cause its really damn fun to do, and the drill really is underrated as fuck, really love that weapon
Smell like burnt out Take a break g
Thanks for your concern! I think it's more that I haven't played in a few days, tried to incorporate new mechanics I'm not great with yet, and just generally pretty tired.
I recommend using the knuckle blaster more, its will make your gameplay way better (also turn off screenshake trust me it will look amazing)
I thought I was already using it pretty liberally. Can you give more detail on how? And I'll double check screenshake is off - I thought it was. Thanks for your comment!
@@7ocalhost 1. When use the knuckleblaster literally use it at every chance you get and I mean EVERY SINGLE CHANCE, if you watch any good players play you will see they spam the knuckleblaster because it is literally free damage by just pressing F, the shockwave isn’t necessary and you should only use it to deflect projectiles. 2. To turn screenshake off go to settings > general and then turn it to 0%. If you want any tricks or tips ask me, I am not very good I only have 400 hours but I’ll try.
I'll keep that in mind. Most of my struggles still come down to execution and muscle memory. I've only got 60 hours in the game so far, so any advice is helpful.
@@7ocalhostwhat i did is basically just use your pboost muscles and do that with knuckleblaster any time im shotgunning something(kb every other shot)
@@Lottchen621Gotcha. Knuckleblaster go brrrrrrrrr. I can do that.
pretty smoove ma boi
Thanks gamer

The game is ULTRAKILL
Impressive how you managed to keep it SSStylish even with just a rocket launcher
Thanks! It was a surprisingly fun challenge.
6:23 "i like ya cut g"
One of the more satisfying things to do with Hideous Mass.
1. imo bright background is bad when things go fast, i have harder time tracking stuffs in the air at first 'til i developed some muscle memory 2. to effectively parry a maurice orb, grapple it before it even shoot, so that you are on a straight line toward the maurice to hit it, that and the speed during the grappling can drag your melee register incase you punched too early(not alot but it can help), after punching with any fist the grapple will cancel out and you can dash/slam out of the rest of the orbs 3. never rely on healing from big enemies, the way you struggled against ferryman and how you died to sisyphean tells that you're rushing to kill them first that's good, but never try to get blood from them, they hurt you more than you heal. Always keep distance against them and prior attacking ranged threat(gutterman, maurice, virtue and sentry) as they are more annoying yet safer to approach closely, also sisyphean's blood spill range is smaller than you think edit: don't rely on healing from ceberus also, in case you don't see them as much of a threat as others
Thanks for your comment! 1. The light hasn't bothered me too much. I wanted a change of scenery from the dark vaporwave look. 2. I hadn't thought about the parry hitbox essentially getting extended while grappling. Good to know! 3. I'm learning this the hard way. The insurrectionist isn't too bad to tap a heal from when they're on fire, but when not on fire, there's little to no blood. I sometimes try healing from cerberi, but it's risky since they tend to charge when you get close.
Keep it up! Here’s my personal advice with a record of 58: The main thing that you can improve on is movement. You’re too much on the ground just walking. I recommend that you’ll almost always slide and I really recommend learning how to rocket ride. You died, because you were too close to the ground with too many enemies. Also, explosions. Use a lot of core nukes. I often use one at the start of each round at a big group of enemies. But yes, movement and explosions. Stay unhitable.
Last wave was very clear to me in hindsight that I shouldn't have been in the middle of that cluster of enemies on the ground in the middle of the stage. I was focused too much on setting the insurrectionist on fire to get heals from him, which wasn't a good idea. I really want to be better with rocket riding, since now I know the inputs to quick mount. I just need to work on execution. Core nuking is something I always forget about, so I'll try to be more diligent there. Thanks for all the advice!
@@7ocalhostcore nuking is really easy if you put malrail as your first railgun, and you can just nuke as fast as possible to minimize how much you need to aim and dash through the explosion, it makes it really easy to get the most out of your nuke because it just means it happens where you are, and also deflect projectiles intended for you. kinda like an overpump.
@@Lottchen621Noted! I'll try switching it up.
nicely done! if you're starting to feel more comfortable with your rocket riding, try playing a offstage a bit more. its really safe and you can just toss coins and nukes and let the hoard sorta deal with its self a bit. Also if you struggle a bit with finding the last enemy in a wave, the lights on the floor will pulse from where they are as long as its the last thing left. good luck with the runs!
Thank you! I didn't know about the lights on the floor pulsing from the last enemy. Good to know! Off-stage play makes me nervous, but I'll overcome that fear with time and practice.
Nice run! You should try and get a bit more comfortable swapping to feedbacker to parry tho, perrys are super busted rn because of the buff they got last patch. So i like to go to sand box and spawn in a bunch of soldiers, schisms and mannequins then try and kill all of them with just arms. If it helps theres also a punch keybind for individual arms (e for feedbacker or f for knuckleblaster.) Good luck on future runs!! I believe in you!!!
Thank you! I do map the arms to different buttons since the patch, and that has been ridiculously helpful. Parrying more would also save me stamina I'd otherwise use dodging. And more heals.
I lov your videos bro
They’re stuff is pretty damn good
Thanks! I'll keep doing my best.
I cant do shit in cybergrind
😂😂
Just keep practicing and you'll do better over time.
Good video
Thanks!
A strat that i use is leave gutterman shields for when i need health because breaking their guard replenishes your hp
They're very convenient to heal from. However they're usually a high priority enemy for me because of their hitscan, so I often take them out first.
@@7ocalhost They have a very slow turning speed. They act like a Tyrant from Doom Eternal
I haven't played Doom Eternal, but I know what you mean. I struggle with them a bit. Bonus to taking them out early is you can get some free pancake kills on heavier targets.
What a time to find these videos im currently grinding for wave 50 myself i was so close one run and then i die to wave 49 it was as painful as you think Good luck with getting there btw!

Thank you for 1000 views! Edit: Thank you for 2000 views!!
Keep grinding! you've made it halfway there. I just got a new pb of wave 36 by utilizing the sharpshooter for maurice n mindflayers and using the piercer for healing, its really good for that. Try using the pistol variants more.
Thanks a bunch! I really do need to use the revolvers more. I've fallen off of using them. Using piercer for heals is something I haven't thought of and will try!
keep at it! know at least some of us believe in you

Hey man, please tell me when I record the gameplay of ultrakill, every time the picture splits into pixels Tell me how to fix it, please, thanks for earlier
I'm not sure how to fix that. I recommend checking your stream and output settings and searching online for solutions people found for similar issues.
@@7ocalhost well, thanks, maybee
You should use primary fire on rocket more often, they do more damage than pro boost and don't eat up your melee register(incase you need to parry or sum). You often want to use shotgun for core snipe or overpump dash spam which i figure from your preservation focus play style, won't try it. So just hit those direct hit rocket on big target(not maurice) is good qol change
Thanks for the great advice! I didn't know rockets do more damage than projectile boosting. For some reason I always thought they were the same, but I never tested it. As for core snipe and overpumping, I keep telling myself to use those but haven't developed those habits yet.
@@7ocalhost no prob, just keep in mind that pro boosting is still better than rocket at shooting fodder enemies due to the fact that it's harder to get a direct hit on smaller target
Yes
