In Conversation with Konstantin Kisin
Russian-British commentator, author and satirist Konstantin Kisin joins Gerard Holland for a frank conversation at Australian Parliament House, Canberra.
Konstantin Kisin was born in the Soviet Union and moved to the UK as a teenager, a background that has informed his views on some of the biggest issues affecting Western liberal democracies, from the rise of cancel culture to identity politics.
Organised by the Menzies and Page Research Centres with an introduction from the Hon Andrew Hastie MP, Kisin discusses the roots of the West's current cultural malaise and suggests ways of overcoming the politics of division that is tearing us apart.

he's correct in his estimations of how the perverse exploitation of victimhood has no purchase for most people. The changes which have brought about the present are wrought with mistakes and the extrapolation is obvious so it takes someone like Konstantine feeling pretty vicarious to label people brainwashed " marxists" Scrutinize and deconstruct the oppressive mechanisms systemically reinforcing certain inequities and you eventually find the answer is merit. The political dynamics of the USA are pretty nuanced but I get the feeling that the us & them doesn't resonate with people who know how governments perpetrate upon us in order to maintain and establish social norms which then are passed down as values. It's a very viceral sort of malice. When I was black I hated this country. I'm white now and I still hate it, but now they don't tell me it's my fault.

you are the best Konstantin and my favourite line(s) of yours' is the statement to shut up and realize that freedom of speech comes with a price but it doesn't matter cos the alternative is suicide of the west so suck it up and shut up. the other is the worry about what will they think if I say that ? who gives a fuck? say it and lets all say it , chances are most of us who will push back are the countries' tax base , if they lock us up or ship us out who will pay for their charity spending trying to save every corrupt militant banana republic in sub saharan Africa and every islamic extremist state in the Middle East. We end up with a few of their good citizens and a disproportionate whole lot of their extremist corrupt elements, that embark on infiltrating western society in the most insidious and subtly corrupt fashion. misinformation, disinformation : that's always been around and it used to be called 'the national enquirer '! typically u found it at the check out counter with sensational photos of Elvis shaking hands with ET and that they both live 5 light years away from here and they are embarking on introducing rock and roll to that planet . and guess what ? you bet , there were dummies who actually believed it ... the internet is no different . my suggestion is get off the internet and start reading some books and educate yourself well so that these dummy TH-cam influencers who don't know shit from putty won't be able to persuade you to believe that shit and putty are the same thing. I like you Konstantin and I wish you light a fire under the asses of our western democracies youth so that it starts to burn and they finally get off their cosy chairs and begin to move on to fight this bug that s been let lose on us to destroy our western ways and western world.

I am all in favour of democracy and free speech, and Kisin is shallow and simplistic... No acknowledgement of the abundance of natural resources in Australia. No acknowledgement of the West’s exploitation of others, including brain drain. No acknowledgement of the technical and economic rise of the authoritarian China. No acknowledgement of the increasing and damaging pressures and stresses in society. No acknowledgement of global crises. Effective (and convenient) denial of climate change, which is predominantly caused by the West and will predominantly affect developing countries. The Cortez example was particularly shallow and simplistic. Voting is not government by consent. No acknowledgement of the gross imbalance of power between big business, and voters and consumers. No acknowledgement of the influence of big money and big tech. The mantra of keep what you make, without addressing increasing inequity. Not hard to see why people really call Kisin right wing.
