Glen Rock was the best. We used to walk our wagon full of the empty bottles down to the Gold Eagle Liquors in Libertyville that sold it to re-load for the weekend. The best part was you could build your own case. So everyone got to pick out their favorite flavors. So sad they went out of business. If they made this soda today, it would have some fancy label and be marketed as "small batch, locally made". But back then it was just Glen Rock Pop.

I was born in '85 in Lake County. Research and nostalgia brought me to this video. My late father used to always have a case on hand in our garage for a rare treat (through maybe 90 or 91). He kept those Glen Rock empty cases forever. I'm surprised I couldn't remember the name, having seen it millions of times throughout my childhood. Also, when I was young, Donny of Jerry's Mobil used to let my father the garage to work on our family vehicles. I always remember a vintage vending machine loaded up with GR. Getting one was my reward to going with my dad to watch him work on cars for a day (I didn't, really). I liked the Lemon Lime, Cream Soda, and well all of them were awesome.

Omg! My sister used to live North Chicago. I could wait to spend the night at her place. The soda dispenser in the basement of her apartment was always filled with bottles of Glen Rock soda. I think they were like twenty-five cent. They were absolutely delicious!❤️😍

I'm from Waukegan. As a kid, I didn't think about it because Glen rock pop was a stable at any b-day party. Small bottles, parents let you drink like 6 of em

Shame they went out of business. I recall having it at some block party in the 1980's as a kid, and it was pretty dang good. I think they stuck around until the early 1990's, as I recalled being able to get some when I was in high school as well. But they closed up sometime after that.

Great job, Ty. I loved learning about all the famous folks visiting our beloved city. I know Phil Harris (Jack Benny's band leader and voice talent for many of Walt Disney's animated films) was here, and at my house as well. - there's a story. We own the house that belonged to Jack Benny's aunt Clara (Kubelsky) Gordon, and Jack stayed here when he came to Waukegan to visit, so I'm not just making this stuff up.

How did Germany get rid of the Nazi symbol? We need to do that in our country with our Confederate flag, statues that glorify any horrible acts or ideals... that is not cancel culture it's evolving growing stamping out hate for our future children... obviously we we didn't stamp our Nazis enough last time...

A place in Seymour Wisconsin, just West of Green Bay, still makes the same soda from the same mix that Glen Rock used in the 60's. It's sold at Don's Quality Market in Seymour Wisconsin. Glen Rock Soda was not unique. Many other local bottlers used the same mixes but not many are left. Seymour Beverages is one of them. www.glassbottlesoda.org/bottlers/seymour.shtml
