To me, Gustav Mahler 6th symphony, is the best of all symphonies !
wow
The strings are so important in Bruckner and too often drowned out by brass, so it's a blessing to hear them glow through.
Day 1 of asking for the spotify version. ✊
I repeat me here; An ooutstanding composer, performed by an outstanding orchestra, directed by an outstanding conductor!.
The tempo of Celibidache is evidently very slow, almost exaggerated and provocative. Strictly speaking, therefore, it goes too slow, there is no argument. However, the great Celi manages, while taking the orchestra to the extreme (which one understands is difficult to follow) to push the tension to the limit. How can you talk about a genius like that, who carries emotion within you? You can agree or disagree but I like it enormously and it fascinates me like few others.
Celi is God
Yes, but the BEST symphonic ending EVER, EVER, EVER is the Mahler Resurrection. No contest! I have listened to it many, many times and lose it at the end every time! 😭💘
Best composer for brass ever!
Brukner's 4th and 6th by Celibidache Münchner Philharmoniker are the best I have heard.
Only few people know that Maestro Celibidache rehearsed for two weeks for this program. His main concern was to balance the sounds of the different orchestra sections. For instance he doubled the woodwinds, 4 flutes, 4 clarinets, 4 oboes, 4 bassoons. But the players who "doubled" were not playing just all the loud sections; Celibidache required continuous attention and asked them to play at different places, according the individual acoustics, sometimes we had to "double" even at piano-sections, in order that Celibidache would get the right sound-balance he achieved.
Oh My. I just heard the last mvmt of the Shosh 5. And now...to hear the end of this stunning orchestral voice. It is divine. A most telling accounting of each orchestral section.
that percussionist thinks Bruckner is such boring composer and I can't blame him.
Yes, but in two different universes! Greatness beyond words! Why do they avoid Bruckner and Mahler in the music history classes of our universities? The so called professors are more interested in the intellectual characteristics of a tone row or some complex atonal chord. Musicians vs Intellectuals and Administrators 😢
Absolutely awesome! Never heard another 4th like this! Just stunning!
Bruckner, the original ‘Wall of Sound’.
bravo!
Excellent piece of art
Miraculous. I wonder if Bruckner imagined/heard it like this as he penned it.
Learning a lot from Horowitz the way he moves his left hand.
Great use of a bumper.
Truly one of the best endings to any symphony ever written...I would literally go to this symphony live just for the ending. I personally like the performance conducted by Claudio Abbado better though...the sound seems fuller and he is a bit more suave in his movements which add to the grand ending th-cam.com/video/gcBg-tXn0fs/w-d-xo.html
Listen instead to Eugen Jochum's Bamberg Symphony Orchestra LIVE in TOKIO (NHK 1982) with Wolfgang and I. What a TRULY great Conductor Eugen was!
Great! Some of my old colleagues and friends, especially the American David Moltz and the German Wolfgang Gaag on the Horn and even the Swiss J.F.Michel on the Trumpet! Great guys (Jean and Wolfgang from the original German Brass) and truly great musicians... I never like Celli's slow Tempos though... often far too slow and arrogantly pedantic in thought and in his execution and his lack of empathy of the Brass ( that is for the extra strength for the high Brass players... later they in Munich even had to "double" the First Trumpet (Eric supporting Uwe) because of this mistake.... especially after working with the GREAT Eugen Joch🤔um in Bamberg, how could I like this?
Could you give references to get the score? Thank’s a Lot :)
I like how this is turning into the "Interstellar" soundtrack halfway in (or, obviously, the other way round)
The piston trumpet was used in this performance...what a disappointment. It has loud and sharp sound but lack of harmonics and solid tone which is essential to Bruckner's symphonies. Simply playing loud is not the answer.
damn I can tell you it's really hard to play with good musicality, way harder than it looks
Just slow everything down and you get. Celibedache. Lo!
great finale. if any of you want to listen the same moment in another Master reading i suggest Skrowaczewski and Galicia Symphony
Is the tipanist Peter Sadlo ?
Wow! I didn’t know Gene Wilder played French horn in an orchestra!
Love it!!!! Congratulations to the composer and performers! Will try to give it to my students! Keep up the amazing work :))))
Thank you!
Funny Insightful
This is absolutely awesome!
Climbing the ladder into heaven
The best !🎉
Celi nu.poate fi evaluat dupa etaloanele normale! karajan, kleiber, ozawa, etcetc ...astia da, regular , generic most of them..... Celibidache is something else...celestial, truly a genius! Rest in.peace , beloved maestro!
Amazing music
Slow, but that's okay. Different stokes...
This segment puts the lie to the criticism that he was a sluggish conductor. Here he maintains pace at every tempo. The Munich Phil. loved him.
