2022 Ducati Desert X | First Ride Review
I've spent a few months wanting to ride this thing since I first saw it come to market.
Now I am by no means an off road specialist, so its probably a bit "too good" for me. I wasn't able to give it a good run off road, but was so surprised how it handled on the road.
I guess I was presumptuous in thinking it wouldn't be great on the road, but how wrong I was.
This thing absolutely rips on the road too! It really could be the perfect 50/50 bike

Honda Africa Twin DCT First Ride | The best bike I've ever ridden
มุมมอง 54K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I've been looking at people on the Africa Twin for some time now and thought how awesome do they look. Did some research and from what I could see, it was a bike that suited me pretty well. Yesterday was the day. I managed to get on a test ride of the Africa Twin Adventure Sport. It did not disappoint. The DCT is something else, I was very sceptical at first and didn't know what was what, but a...
Is Snowdonia the best place to ride?
มุมมอง 6402 ปีที่แล้ว
This weekend I took a long trip on the bike. I thought it was a great opportunity to go see the Grandparents in North Wales. So, I loaded up the bike with a few bits I needed for a night (I'm still waiting to get my proper luggage). For now I have the hard top box, which definitely makes you look like a pizza driver, but its awesome, and a big tank bag. Riding from Nottingham to North Wales on ...
The best biking roads in the Peak District | KTM 890 Adventure R

Being only 45 minutes away from the edge of the Peak District, means that I have some serious biking roads not too far away. The Peak District national park is home to some of the UK's best on, and off road riding. From wide open mountain passes, to tight twisty roads and some incredible gravel tracks. In this video I take you on what I believe are some of the best roads in the area. If you'd l...

Riding off road in the UK - KTM 890 Adventure R
มุมมอง 3522 ปีที่แล้ว
Motorcycling off road in the UK is a bit of a challenge in itself. You're not allowed to just ride anywhere that has a trail. I'm pretty sure the only trails you're allowed to ride down are Byways and Unclassified roads. Some of these will be going through peoples land, which will say "no entry" or something along those lines - Always respect that :-) On this video I headed out towards Newark t...
Have you tried an adventure bike? I had 4 bikes in 1 year, now the dual sport is the one
มุมมอง 1832 ปีที่แล้ว
In 2020, I had 4 different bikes. In this video, I talk through my motorcycle journey and what I have come to love from the bikes I have owned. I love pretty much all bikes, there's not much I don't like. Sports bikes don't really like me though - my body can't really handle it! KTM 890 Adventure R - This bike handles it all!
มุมมอง 2.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I spend a lot of time looking for local byways that I can ride, and I cannot believe I missed a couple that were literally 5-10 minutes away form my house. Having only had this bike about 6 months, I haven't really put it to its limits too much, but from what I have done, this bike handles it all amazingly. For the first time I put it in Rally Mode and put the slip on 3.... bad idea, that thing...
Airoh Commander Review - First Ride - Why I think this is one of the best helmets I have owned!

This is my first product review on the channel. I just took delivery of the new Airoh Commander helmet, so thought it was the perfect chance. I've spent the last few weeks searching for an adventure helmet. I'm pretty picky when it comes to helmets and over the years have had some great helmets from Bell. Tong Enduro - Riding Enduro Is Bloody Hard Work!

I'd been wanting to ride at Tong for a while now, and today I got up there to ride. Finally the summer seems to be coming in the UK so thankfully it was quite dry. I always knew that Enduro and MX athletes were fit as f k, but after riding for only 3 hours total (with a load of breaks), I realised just how hard it is. My body feels buggered, and I take my hat off to all those athletes. Enjoy!!

    1) Throttle lash in parking lot (DTC) 2) fuel door is missing a gasket and allows water and debris in tank. Need silicone for it. 3) Top heavy 4) to much electronics. 5) terrible stock tires. 6) wire Android Auto 7) button cluster is a cluster fk. 8) do not rev the Throttle for first time at light. DO NOT REV THE THROTTLE AT ALL. 9) DO NOT get off bike while bike is in gear and try to walk beside bike as u maneuver it. Rev that Throttle shes taking off on you. 10) air filter replacement "painful" Some of my gripes with my 2023 AT ADV SPRT DTC

Nice video. Been looking at the AT (Adventure Sports) manual for the past few months. Seems to check a lot of the boxes. Finally a bike with CarPlay. And good on Honda for including self canceling indicators. I’m like you. I want the white/blue/red model. Can’t decide between the aluminum or poly panniers however.

Nice review. You indicate the V2S is expensive so you would consider the V4, the caveat is he V4 is another $10k! I decided to go for the V2S over the V4, V4 power is overkill for public roads. I added the spoked wheels to do some light off road. I had a 2022 Pikes Peak, amazing bike; however, it's heavier, can't do any off-road and super expensive!

I’ve got a 2016 with DCT and love it. Had it for 6 years (I had four other bikes at the time). I ride Forest roads, dirt roads, and street all over Oregon. I solo disperse camp in no man’s land. Love the DCT (49 years of continuous riding) owned 36 other bikes through the years. I do carry a “Moto Jack” with me that I’ve had to use it. 😂🎉 27,xxx miles and still going strong. It takes a good month to really understand the DCT and maximize its capabilities. I with they had a AT 500cc with DTC!

Hey there, get the GPS mount from Touratech. If you like carplay, it's best to go with a dongle to make it wireless. A bit tricky to set up, but once it is, it just works. Safe riding always.

I agree that adventure bikes have more to offer but it's not easy to explain why to people who generally steer clear of them. I think if you like to travel about seeing things and have a bike that is fun too, then something like the Ducati Multi is just right in my experience. I'm just shuffling money around now to build enough of a pot to get one of the Ducati V4s bikes but need to go test ride one. I had the 1260S twin before the pandemic and that was an amazing bike for a mix of things it could do.

I was selling my Tenere 700 to get this, but only in the last week the price went up drastically. And the availibility is not any sooner than October 2023. And we cannot even pay the whole fee and freeze the bike price. There is no telling how much it will end up being all the way down in November. I don't care so much for the fuel guzzling attribute which is not so bad for this. Nor the desmo service which is only once every 30,000km's. But the base price is crazy. And about to get crazier. So I might decide to get a BMW F750GS, Tiger 900 or Tracer 900 instead. Wish they still made the legendary Yamaha Fazer 600/800's.

I own a 2020 Africa Twin DCT (non-AS). This is my first adventure bike - I used to ride a Triumph Daytona 675r and a Kawasaki z800 previously. It's certainly heavy but all that weight magically disappears as soon as you get it moving. It's deceptive in a weird way - be cautious. I do however love the stability & ride quality. The DCT on this gen of AT (with the 6 axis IMU) are lovely & intuitive. I'd say 80-90% of the times, the bike is in the correct gear. The low end torque is addictive - no Supersport by any measure, but for a 40+ guy, this is plenty. The riding posture is very relaxed & the built quality is right on the money. After suffering from a bad slipped disc, this is possibility the most comfortable I've felt riding on a motorcycle. So far, I'm loving it. Yes - it's probably a a boring Honda (as many would say) - but this is all the bike that I need & its capabilities far surpass what I will ever demand from it. No premium fuel etc required - this would happily accept as low as 87 octane which is insane (should your adventures ever take you far & beyond).

Just seeing your message after reading the comments. I have a gen 1 daytona 675 that I have not used very much and as ai am getting older I want something comfier and able for long trips. Are you still happy with the bike and how was the change from the 675’s power to the Africa twin’s power?

    • @gearmatch
      @gearmatch 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@hulkhogan9450 I absolutely miss my 675R. But the AT is wayyyy more comfy to ride on longer hauls. Personally, I do miss the drama. The Honda is just a bit dull on that front. But it sure makes up for that with reliability. What would intimidate the most is the size and weight compared to a supersport. No getting around that. To be honest even a Transalp 750 would suffice for long comfy rides. The AT comes into its own when the tarmac ends.

Having to wire a phone to a vehicle in order to get it working with Android Car or whatever is a PITA though: I have this in my Astra: there's a socket that can be used to charge the phone but the cubby it's in is just that little bit too small to fit a modern Android phone, and there's nowhere else to put it. What I've found is you plug it in, the vehicle's system recognises it, you put the phone where it needs to go & something disturbs the plug ever so slightly so the vehicle thinks it's no longer plugged in, so you pick the thing up & reseat the plug, put it back & it's unplugged again... I've given over using it since for most trips I do know where I'm going, but imagine that with a bike with wind and potholes jiggling the whole thing about. Once they get it onto Bluetooth only it'll be alright but forcing a wired connection, ugh, huge PITA.

As far as GPS mounts go there's nothing stock but you can get ones from Givi & Quadlock - my standard AT came (bought used) with a Givi crossbar mount that goes just above the TFT screen, but the previous owner had removed the clip part where your GPS or phone mounts. As it happens, Quadlock were having a sale over Christmas last year so I got their wing mirror mount, which goes perfectly well with the Givi crossbar, so I can have my GPS on my phone directly above the TFT - and no need for it to be using Android Mobile or whatever it's called.

No, you can't do power wheelies in 3rd gear like on a GS1250 but there is plenty of grunt to get a wriggle on and it's more than fast enough for me. I love the sound, the look, riding position etc. Tyre choice is important to get the best out of it.
