    Working in inches is archaic.

    Hi fellows. I think you need to take some time and take a fast tour on Woodglut website.

    My husband uses these plans from Woodprix and is very happy with them. However. I love yours!

    Wow, That jig is so much nicer than the one I came up with. Note for first time wood workers...double check your depth of cut with scraps before making multiple cuts too deep.

    This is the best solution I have seen! I almost feel like making more supers. Thanks for sharing.

    Thank You for the great videos on making the beehive hand holds! I think you've got the safest and best approach going..and want to incorporate that into my hive making. Thank You for posting the second video with dimensions, etc. I very much appreciate it!

    Takes too long. I prefer hand holds versus finger holds

    There is no under cut at all that I can see. If you tilt the blade to 30 degrees, you will get an under cut of 15 degrees which is slip proof.

    Thanks for posting such a helpful video. I have watched both of your videos on cutting handles and I found them very helpful toward making the jig. It now takes me about 30 seconds per handle and they look infinitely more professional. Keep up the good work and God bless.

    Thank you for this! I'm a relatively new wood worker and just starting with bees as well. This video was exactly what I needed to sort out the hand holds. I obviously had to change little things here and there to fit my old saw, but the basic design is yours.

    I much prefer this jig for moving the workpiece against the saw rather than alternatives I've seen using a Circular saw moving the saw against the workpiece. Just got to make sure you have the depth right - don't want the blade piercing the other side just as you had your hand over the cutting area.

      FYI. U only cut a little bit at a time. Once my handles are 4.5" wide I quit.

      Walter Hicks Walter, I have a hard time figuring out how to reply to people on youtube. You asked for my plans and I do not have any plans. I watched a couple of videos and then started from scratch and built it. I actually have a new one that now that is easier to setup. I leave on vacation tomorrow so I don't have time to take pictures and get you measurements. The thing is, your table saw would have to be the same size for the measurements to work. I will be back the end of January and will try to get something done then.

    • @randyvalley854
      @randyvalley854 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Walter. My email address is rvalley2@msn.com. I am never sure if I reply this way if it gets to the person. I do not have plans for this. From a youtube video I watched I found out that the front board in the jig is 3 1/2" with a 15 degree angle cut in it and the side boards are 14" long. The rest I made to fit the sides of my hive boxes. I have a new jig made now that I need to make a new video of. I am going to be out of town for the next 3 weeks so won't be able to do it until I get back. I will try to give more measurements this time.

      Walter, let me know if you get this. My email address is: rvalley2@msn.com. I made another video named, "measurements of how to make jig to cut handles in bee hive boxes. See if that helps.

    This is another beautifully made instructional video....so, you are saying 3/4" fingers/dado setup....so I am excited to use this size finger joint for my next set of boxes. I would like to find a video you have probably made for cutting that 3/8" x 5/8" ledge for the frames in the box......thanks man!!!

    • @valleysrawhoney8686
      @valleysrawhoney8686 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      To cut the 3/8 x 5/8 ledge I run the side board across my dado blade set to the right height. I start lower and adjust the blade up until it cuts the right depth. It is better to cut to deep than not deep enough. I learned the hard way. After putting a box together the frame was too long to fit in the box. I had to disassemble the box and recut. I have made several changes to both my finger joint jig and hand holds jig but haven't had time or help to video yet.

      +Spencer Herrick Either size. Both boxes start the same and the deeps get an extra notch cut.

    Nice work, one thing i like about the table saw it has a bigger blade than the circular saw and makes a little bit wider handle

  • @Pulvilli
    @Pulvilli 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    how wide are the TOP side rails on the BEEBOARD? I have the same size 19 7/8" supers , but i Have medium super at 13 3/4". I asked on your previous video how far from the left edge is the underside left rail that fits in the mitre groove located? thanks. your video is very instructional...

    • @valleysrawhoney8686
      @valleysrawhoney8686 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am guessing you have 8 frame supers. Mine are 10 frame so they are 16 5/8. If you subtract your 13 3/4 from 19 7/8 and divide it by 2 that is the size of the spacer you need when cutting handles in your front and back boards. The measurement would 3 1/16. If this isn't your actual question please email me at: rvalley2@msn.com

    great great video. how far from the left edge of the "BEE BOARD" should one afix the left rail? In your next video you say to position the STOP ~12 inches from the blade, " to give 1 1/2" from the end". Did you mean to say 1 3/4" from the top of the handhold?
