Finding Calm in Chaos
มุมมอง 133 ปีที่แล้ว
The jolting, chaotic frenzy of an ordinary car wash is a great analogy for how distressing the loud sights and sounds of everyday life can be for someone living with the brain change of Alzheimer’s or dementia. It is helpful to keep this illustration in mind as care partners consider trying to find quieter, less chaotic environments to help their loved one live their best life. 💜
Mitzi's Faith
มุมมอง 1864 ปีที่แล้ว
One of the great gifts Mitzi gave to those who knew her well was the absolute assurance of her faith...she knew there was a purpose for her life, and that this world was not her home. She accepted her Alzheimers diagnosis an incurable condition because she knew it wasn’t really the end of the story for her. She led by example for the thousands of people she inspired along her path that we can h...

😢😢😢 No words. Who in their right mind would have thought that forced and complete isolation was the answer????
Wow😙
that is so heartbreaking. I'm planning on having my parents live with me when they are older. Thanks for sharing his story and using your God given gifts to do good.
My life the last year... torture
Beautiful Ansley!

Another great video Mary and I'm right there with you! Our situations are so similar with our husbands. I don't understand why the "powers that be" can't comprehend that people in these facilities (memory care and skilled care especially) are sitting in Heaven's Waiting Room. They have lost everything in most cases except their loved ones. Let them live out their lives with their loved ones..... by their side touching, hugging and kissing them til the end. I feel most of them would take a chance with COVID over living a longer life only to have it end the same way, but without their loved ones present. Keep fighting to tuck Steve in a night! That was my routine with my husband too!!
Mary, this is so beautiful and mirrors my husband's and my relationship. We've been married for 32 years and I, like you, have been with him almost daily since he was admitted to memory care 3 years ago. My husband had mild cognitive impairment and on 6/26/17 had an auto accident resulting in a traumatic brain injury. This injury exacerbated his cognitive impairment to moderate/severe Alzheimer’s. He was evicted from his previous facility on 7/20/20 for behavioral issues and I have not been able to be with him as I was before (I was acting as a sitter) and I feel like I've abandoned him. When people would tell me that I didn't need to visit him so often, I would tell them that I do it because one day I won't have to, or be able to, because he won't be there. Only someone who has been through this can understand. Just watched a video of you and Teepa Snow. Keep fighting the good fight Mary!
Beautiful, inspirational story. Thanks for sharing! Praying for you and for an end to these lockdowns so you can be together again!
So wrong on so many levels. In NYS..it's been happening for a long time as I've observed through friends...I fear my own aging now! #SAVEOURELDERS
💔
Thanks so much for sharing your story.
Thanks for watching!
Our loved ones need us. No one should be isolated from those they love. My Dad has been "protected" for 5 months...now suddenly he as COVID along with almost all the residents in his memory care facility. I was kept away (locked out) for 5 months because they needed to protect him. Now look what happened! It's just not right. They won't even open the window 1/8 inch so we can hear each other at the window. God Bless my Dad and all the families and loved ones going through this horrible situation.

Heartbreaking. We Can Do Better.People have the power for needed change.
This is our reality...be informed...be proactive with out state leadership.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
Heartbreaking. Much respect to his ex-wife. We need more facility residents who are able to record their stories and send them to government officials.
This is hurting me so. This the fear I have for our son. I know, even though Brandon is getting much better care than this, he is not getting the care he should have. Mainly because I can't be there. I did fight for a day visit. We are suppose to have video chats. Not consistent. I need to feed him and talk to him and rub his hands. This is having a double hurt on me. I am a caregiver. We are not like this where I work. I wouldn't work for a place like that. I would be the one turning them in. Lord help us. I don't believe in mistreating people. My parents taught me better. My church taught me better. I fight against the ugliness of hate. But, owners have a responsibility. They should be prosecuted. This Covid 19 has torn us apart, due to lack of responsibility in leadership. It only takes a human being to stop this. I have to take a few minutes before I can finish.
Sharon, you are so right. This is heartbreaking for so many; everyone needs to be connected to those who know and love them. I am so sorry you are experiencing this.
Beautifully said!! I have noticed a significant decline in my Mom just recently. She has a wonderful staff and they Skype me every day. Sadly my mom's ability to communicate is very limited and I am not sure she even understands while we talk. My Mom thrives off of touch and daily outings to keep her alert, now every time I see her she looks like she has been sleeping, they say she is loosing interest in eating. It is all just very sad.
I am so sorry. This shouldn't be happening the way it is.
I love this story and gives me hope on ideas for my future and to ease my husband future burden
This is Outstanding! Many great points, this journey is long and lonely and we all need help! My Beautiful wife Suzy's journey came to an end on January 15th of this year after a eight years battle. Keep fighting the fight and tell people your story so the next family might have it a little easier. #ENDALZ
