I certainly do remember Don Southgate! One of a legendary group of volunteers/staff who helped the railway flourish back in the 70s and 80s! The Talyllyn retains much of its special charm as a unique narrow-gauge line.

And with equally impressive sound!

And Thank You for making a comment - especially such a good one! I like to capture the best sounds, and the gradients on Weybourne and Kelling Banks are ideal for that. There is a unique characteristic about the Keighley and North Norfolk Gala events - both very different of course. And North Norfolk is extra special with its extensive panoramas between the sea and the heathland. I'm tempted to return before the Grange moves on....

Thank you Andy. The West Highland Extension is THE very best place to appreciate main line steam! Away from the crowds, and on the climb to Beasdale summit is a location that will transport you back to the sixties steam you remember!

The sound was spectacular and extremely memorable. I'm remembering Market Overton, an Open Day at 'Steamtown' and a last run up Hatton Bank - in the mid 1970s!

@@davebenjamin5380 Yeas it was friday i had good weather although from time to time there were strong winds though i enjoyed filming the ride with double header fron keighley to worth station special uphil was awsome

Pleased you liked it! The murmurations were a highlight throughout those rather dull and grim months of December, January and February- extra good to witness on days when the wind dropped, accompanied by a sunset.

And incredible to witness on many evenings since December - similar format every day but variations depending on wind direction, choice of lake, predators especially the peregrines. Despite our Bitterns, Otters and Nightingales - you have wildlife aplenty on your doorstep!

Very envious! An A4 near the end of the platform at Kings Cross is always an iconic moment - stationary under the roof brings back memories of A4s there in the early 60s - despite the catenary and everything of the modern railway....

Thank you. I'm always looking for sound more than visuals - and usually you can't go wrong when a Black Five is involved!

Not one of my best (rain and focusing issues got in the way earlier in the day) - but the final scene is always a priceless one for me and takes me back to the 'glorious years' of everyday steam in the late 50s and early sixties - when a silent evening in the middle of nowhere could be broken by the laborious plod of a barking monster!

Very pleased to hear. It's well below my usual video standards but I uploaded it mainly because of the last sequence at Woodwalton. It's a great location to remember the real days of steam - no onlookers, a black night, and the ever-increasing (and then disappearing) sound of a steam locomotive dominating the eerily quiet landscape!

Encouraging to hear! My priorities are always sound over visuals - and after dark can have great advantages, particularly as the wind often drops and there's less traffic and people around to 'get in the way'!

Thank you Matt. One of those rare days when everything went well. Lucky with the panning - less vegetation in winter. Grassthorpe crossing is about two miles from the water stop at Carlton loop - location chosen to capture the sound as 44871 accelerated up the 1/200. Skylarks singing, no wind, sunshine, great sounds from 44871 (as usual) and the diesel keeping a low profile. A very enjoyable day.

Pleased you liked it - and that you must have a good sound system on which to fully appreciate the sounds (I use an external microphone and a really good windshield).
