Just bought one of these last week i sort of regret not just going with the 75 which is just a little taller 21 inches so I could feel better about keeping angelfish, which can get pretty tall and in a shorter tank I just feel like they might feel a little cramped other than that yeah I agree It's a great tank beats the 55

This is a 20 long on steroids. I like the longer, but shallower tank too. Hope to get a 40 later in the future, but may skip that and go straight to this. Depends if lids, stands are easily available too

Hi! If you take my advice, you can forget about these crappy filters and buy an Eheim classic 2260 classic 1500XL or oase biomaster 2 850. You might also consider the Eheim classic 600 or the Oase biomaster 600. The Eheim experience and professional series might also be good. If you need very cheap filters I can recommend the Atman filters. If money is not an issue then the ADA super jet filters. These are my recommendations with about 30 years of experience in aquarium keeping behind me. I would not recommend anything else. The filter media is also key. I recommend Seachem matrix purigen and sponge. I wish you many beautiful aquariums!

Your tank is beautiful. It looks like you found some nice big pieces of driftwood. Are you using two canisters on this? What brand are the glass lids? Thanks for making me regret buying a 55 with expensive stand 😂 Now i see as I'm becoming more knowledgeable that a long and shallow would be more beneficial for both South American Dwarf cichlids.

Great video! Curious about the scale though as well. Where did you get the wood and rocks? Hard to find large enough hardscape for larger tanks.

This filter is dog 💩. Hardest filter to prime ever. The one I have had for 1+ years makes me hate my life. I have multiple other brand canisters and this is the worst. I have to suck on output to prime. Good luck with this.

Kavemen aquatics said to use prime and stability daily until nitrates reach around 40 ppm. And then any only then do a water change. What's your opinion on that?? What do you recommend? I've had an ammonia problem for about a month now so I need to help to cycling my tank

Cheers from my fish room channel in Chicago, where I'm a subscriber to yours. I follow the essentially the same methods as you do with good results. The only caveat is some species of livestock require a "seasoned" tank to thrive, such as shrimp or hillstream loaches...

This is such a poorly designed system. I’m too lazy to remove the filtration for now, but I’ve found a way to make it useful. I used four small pieces of flex tape to cover both sides of the bottom intakes. Then I cut triangular pieces of filter floss to fit perfectly under the overflows because the system is so poorly designed that even if you replace the useless course sponge with filter floss, the water just flows through gaps beside the media chamber and the overflow rather than flowing directly through the media (why is there a huge gap below the overflow??? Useless.) So, you have to make sure there is nowhere that water can go without flowing through the filter floss. This made a huge difference. The back was FULL of debris before this but cleared up quickly.

I just bought one LOL...but only paid $50...so If I need to do this I will, gonna run it until it doesn't work. Thanks for the mod. I may use a sponge filter so the lid will still fit.
