Shot from almost a mile away on a day when the air was filled with BC forest fire smoke. You could still hear the show as though it was your noisy next door neighbor, though. Hello from Romania! Subscribe! Vlogger on vlogger!
Wow
I was driving into Edmonton from the south and saw this from Nisku. I stopped to watch when I reached Capilano Mall.
Huh I don’t remember that probably cause I’m from west Edmonton
Oh thank go I wasn’t born then I was born August 18th 2009 and I’m nine lol
Youre making me feel old af. I still remember this day. And i was 11.
hallie curatolo wow I’m only nine lol :/
Scary sure, but there IS a difference between a wall cloud and a super cell thunderstorm cloud
Can you tell me the music name please???
I remember that storm
Nice Video! Happy New Year from japan!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EDMONTON! I live in Edmonton and I saw some fireworks near the park that I love!
Thanks man great vid nice angle
Spectacular!! Thank you so much for posting. What a beautiful gift to citizens of Edmonton and for myself, previous citizen now living farther south down the QE 2. Well done.
Hi there - I'm with CBC Edmonton. We'd love to run your video on our social media and possibly supper hour broadcast (with credit, of course!) today, with your permission. If that's OK with you, how would you like to be credited? Thanks!
Hi Caitlin! You can absolutely use the video for your social media and broadcasts. As for credit, you can just use my screen name (whiteboyradioman), if possible. Thanks so much! :)
That's great - thanks! We'll be running it this afternoon on social and on the supper hour news at 6 if you want to check it out.
Hi again! Glad you were able to use the footage on your news broadcast. I grew up watching CBC the most so it was an honor to have something I created on your network. I was just a tad curious as to why the date 'July 13' was shown over top the video. Did you folks think it was shot then? Not that it matters. Like I said, I was just curious. :) Again, thanks so much Caitlin! You made my summer!
Hi again! I'm just trying to track down where you found the July 13 date written - I don't see it on our Facebook or Twitter video. It was just shot this past Sunday, August 6, correct? I'm not sure where the July date would have come from either! If you point me in the right direction I'll try to get to the bottom of it. :)
At about 11 seconds in on the upper left hand corner of the screen of the broadcast (www.cbc.ca/player/play/1019472451530), the July 13 date pops up. Again, not a big deal at all. I was just trying to think of what it could reference to. :)
This is a great video
Hello, I'm with CTV Edmonton. Could we use this video on our platforms with credit? If so, what's your name? Thanks
Totally go ahead and use it on your platforms. Just use my TH-cam name (whiteboyradioman) for any credit, if possible. Thanks so much, Diego!
Whiteboyradioman Thanks. Was it shot this morning?
Yes, it was. I started filming about 2AM this morning and ended at almost 8AM.
Awesome Video
Those birds are like wtf were those things
NICE! i saw this from jasper ave!!
I actually watched this. it was 50th Street and 118 Ave area. there was a red flash a little to the west and a second later this guy blew up and caught something on fire
Oh shit that's what that was. I also think you live in the same building as me. Neat!
Nice one!
Nice, two things, horizon and flickering. What did you use to shoot this?
It's a video camera that has a timelapse function. Yeah, that exposure flicker is annoying but by the time I would have set up the camera manually (with it's HORRIBLE resistive touchscreen), I wouldn't have gotten as much footage as I did. My apologies if it set off any epilepsy.
It's a JVC Everio Quad Proof video camera. It's like an oversized GoPro in that it was made for outdoor semi-rugged use. It's not bad. Way better camcorders out there, though, but this suits my needs. Thanks for the tip on LRTimelapse. I'll check that out. As for the horizon issue, that's just poor planning on my behalf. I was in such a hurry to set up the camera so I wouldn't miss the action, I neglected to correctly adjust things. I could have fixed it in post but it would have reduced the picture by too much, in my opinion. Thank goodness I'm just a hobbyist and not trying to pass myself off as a pro. Absolute fail! :)
You can reduce flickering with editing software, some does better jobs than some. I use LRTimelapse software, don't know how good it is with video files, but I process my time lapses through that from frames to video. Horizon is easiest to straighten in post production, you might loss a itsybitsy of IQ, but its worth doing. What video camera you have? I'm interested on having video camera that has that TL-fuction.
I hear you, I have been few times in hurry to get the shot that it horizon isn't always as straight as it should. What comes to losing IQ while setting horizon straight, losing a bit of IQ to get it straight isn't the problem when you upload to YT. Edit1: You can check how straighten video looks by doing it and uploading it too. Edit2: couldn't edit post afterwards, so I thought to delete and copypaste it, first I deleted wrong reply.
Not a mile away
Was the shot from Edgewater?
Can you please post some raw video so we can hear it! This was entertaining
Sorry, this was shot as a time lapse only. No raw footage is available. :(
Horrible weather 😣😣😣😣
she killed it either
flawless
That was kool seeing Formation from another angle.
HAHAHAH! That's totally fuckin ANVIL in the background. Wow.
um noo. he was facing the library, while in Churchill Square. this was a brutal storm
The Stampeders, actually. :)
No the song is "wild eyes" by Anvil. They must have covered it..... Get educated on your metal you Fools.
holy crap thats a huge front
I seen that coming out of southgate
Yipes
I was at capital ex (k days ) when this happened
It's a leaf.
Meterologist Joe Sullivan with Louisville NWS even spoke on the topic at our last SKYWARN class. Actual tornadoes that are connected to the cloud base on the leading edge do occur. They are different than gustnadoes. Gustnadoes are just oversized whirlwinds.
Quotes from respectable sources. "Brief tornadoes may occur on the leading edge of a bow echo."-UCAR. "The MAJORITY of tornadoes are found at the REAR of the storm."-NOAA. " " There can be a sharp shift of winds at the leading edge of the storm, and sometimes tornadoes form there. Tornadoes of this type are not associated with a large supercell thunderstorm with a deep layer of rotation extending high into the storm." - Greg Forbes @ TWC.
Gustnados aren't the same thing as tornadoes.
not always. do research.
dude this happened between 8 and 11 pm that night..because my brother in law came over at around midnight and the stars where out.
Yea its the capital of Alberta..sheesh.
um it was a plastic bag
some hail looked like large marbles
Does anybody SEE the UFO fly by at about 1:09 into video? Top right hand corner
Holy shit after 4 year of seeing this I've never noticed till now 0_0
Do you think aliens could have made this storm? It surely doesn't look natural
does anybody dee the ufo fly by in the top right hand corner at 1:11 into video?
My favorite singer singing my favorite song. This is the song that made me fall in love with his voice.
I went there as well. The show was amazing!!
LoL my friend was freakin shit
The tornado will form on the BACK side of the storm, not the front. This was indeed related to a gust front.
I remember working in Downtown during this storm... it... was... insane!!!
@Randoman35 no no i mean like obivisous it is in canada i dont wnna know where u live srry
