In this video I walkthrough the tablet mount set up we are using for our tractors. Forgive the poor filming and rambling as I get better at this! Have lots more content coming for this year documenting what it's like to run a residential snow removal company as well as landscaping/lawn care in the summer. Subscribe if you want more content! Is that a 6000m
And what series tractor are you using? I see that you are using a hybrid blower.
@@mikepierce3262 this is a 5090r with a Cyclone blower
What region are you in?

Hey lady You wanted trees trimmed as well, right?
Driveways for $20…with $100k piece of equipment…plus insurance…plus licensing…plus maintenance…plus fuel…plus wages…🤷🏻♂️
The title is tongue and cheek... we don't actually charge $20 I was just helping an old lady out this one time
You can keep this tipe of small pad's house to close to each other, way to hard on farm tractors
got yourself a new subscriber; i wanna see how this plays out for you. my Girlfriend and i started our grounds maintenance business for 3yrs ourselves now. We're in Sw-Ontario 30 prepaid contracts, 700-2250(seasonal). 1 client pays 1500$/m for a condo (7500sqft lot) no plows, for snow removal 2 ariens snow blowers (deluxe 24s) 2 shovels, box full of salt. we charge a premium because we dont use plows. how'd you get the application for 80-120k in 1 machine.. for 450/season? (i get it plays out to like 90k $ over 150-200 driveways) but CodHam... your CS like 847?
Pretty easy to get approved with john deere. I had also been in business for 3 years doing landscaping before hand
Hi adam, I started my snow removal business not long ago as well, I am in Waterloo region, what city are you in? Maybe we can talk about this sometimes😊
Woah!… what a crazy control set up! What system is that?
Isn’t that hard on your neck?
yes lol
Not a 100% convince and inverted blower is faster...or less hard on your neck...you still have to backup in the yard and pull forward....wyll the reg blower is just doing one pass...
What is the top speed on the tractor
43km
New subscriber here keep up the good work I have just purchased a Kabota L 6060 snow edition with a cyclone snowblower. What was the radius of your route when your first started? I know the tighter the better, but when you first start and you get a get what you can get.
Nick, Why are you leaving a foot of snow on each side of the driveways? Honestly, are you getting a lot of complaints because of that? You should be about 6 to 8 inches from your markers. Correct me if I'm wrong?
No complaints. Our markers are 6" from the edge of the driveway to start off with. If it's our first pass, I am not concerned about getting close the edges. First pass is about speed. Edges can be cleaned up on the second pass.
@@nicksnedden thank you Nick for the explanation. Got it 👍
Any advice on insurance? It's the single biggest thing holding me back from starting a similar operation. I'm closer to Toronto your in Ottawa? Most of the companies want nothing to do with snow removal its depressing.
Make sure to clarify with your insurance provider that you will only be doing residential with no salting (that's what we do). We didn't have a problem getting insurance for residential but I know it is very difficult for commercial snow removal.
You in the westboro Britannia area ? Get you some cool footage during the storm?
Ouuuu Ottawa eh 🎉
Are those 5r are good or they break all the time?
Haven't had issues with mine but I know they have a bad rep
Is it my imagination, or is your blower not level?
You are correct. I'm having an issue with one of the arms where I have to adjust it multiple times per storm. Waiting on a part to come in!
@@nicksnedden aaa, I hate when that happens
Do you price each driveway 20 bucks each time you plow?
No, our clients pay a contract rate for the season. This was simply a lady that needed help and paid cash on the spot
Ok, do you estimate around 20-30 calls pr season. Its little different amount of Snow in Norway. Whats your price for each driveway pr season?
@@mariushovland3966 average events per season is 15-25. Contracts are around $425 per season. 1 tractor can handle 150-200 driveways per storm
@@nicksnedden what is the average size driveway for your base rate?
@@thisthatandtheother100 Average size is a 4 car driveway (2 wide 2 deep) fee for that is $425. Raising next year to $500 most likely. Keep in mind I am in a highly competitive market. If it were up to me it would be minimum $600
Nice setup! I need to get an inverted blower. I keep a rear facing blower for our rare big snows, but man, an inverted would increase my efficiency for 90% of my work.
Thanks! Yeah the inverted blowers are sweet!
Inverted blowers are a huge bonus. Sold my standard blower, and moved to the inverted mk Martin meteor. Absolutely love it! Cut most of the properties times in half
Myself, like many other guys that I know who have been in snow removal a long time, could walk away from it and not care. I have 23 years in, 43 years old. I watched after last season some friends of mine in the business just sell out there equipment and walk away from it and no longer working the hard hours. I have 3 6M Deere's with Normand HYB's, it gets old dealing with ridiculous complaints and constant calling by those certain few "when are you coming, when are you coming, the plow just went by and filled in my driveway or the side walk plow just went again!!!. I've known of a couple fellas near my service area that had good routes, and just dropped them and went commercial. Less headaches. I have met other guys in other markets that regretted getting bigger in this business model. And finding good operators is getting harder every year.
Thanks for commenting. I hear you and have had many people tell me this as well. I’ve found that communication (game plan emails, text notifications, etc help a lot with reducing complaints) And honestly I’ve learned to become somewhat numb to the complaints. I try to remind myself that even is 1-2% of people complain, 98% of people are very happy with the service. I have no problem refunding someone that complains nonstop and makes our job miserable.
I would completely agree when a person complains too much you refund their with a smile and say thank you. I’m sorry it didn’t work out with you. You really only want to keep the ones appreciate you and not worry about everybody else just like in lawn care I keep all my good customers and the ones are unhappy. I let them go there’s no point in having an unhappy customer.
Just spent 14h in my 5090 what better to do than watch 2h of someone else doing it 😅 but honestly keep it up I love it haha
Ahah that’s awesome!! Thanks for watching!
Hey nick In the process of picking up 2 Kubota L6060 Nordic edition with 82” normand hybrid Brand new to the industry Watching your videos is extremely helpful Keep them coming
Hey Trevor, that’s awesome! thanks for this comment! Definitely more coming. Let me know if there’s any questions in specific you would like me to touch on.
I think I’ve got the equipment sorted out. Obviously need some seat time. The plan is to get 200 driveways by next fall & start next season. I have no idea where to start with marketing. I guess I’ll start door to door- web site. Any advice would be awesome I’m in calgary Alberta. We don’t get as much snow as you guys. But definitely think there’s a need here for just driveways. Nobody using tractors up here
@@treadwrap that’s awesome. I think there’s a huge opportunity using these tractors out west and being first to market. I’m by no means an expert but I can certainly make a video about how we went about marketing when first starting out.
Bruh show me the job that pays the bills where you can wake up at 9 AM and clock out at 5 PM. I want to apply.
Government lol
Tips for you regarding those suction cup window mounts, heat them up with a heat gun till the rubber get soft then stick it to your window. Did this on mine for a phone + camera mounts and it hasn't budge for 2 winters now... Cheers
Thanks for the tip!
