You're not seeing all of the White people from the UK, US, and Canada because its too expensive when compared to Colombia, Peru, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and all the other cheap locations those sex tourists visit. Hotels and restaurants in the tourist areas of Panama are similarly priced to some US cities.

Unfortunately that is not the Panama Canal. You are actually at the El Mercado de Mariscos. Located at the entrance of Casco Viejo. A very cool area in its self, however I sure hope you made it to the actual Panama Canal. It is one of the most spectacular thing to see while in Panama.

Holiday Inn is at lowest end of decent AIs...it is a decent enough place but cheaper than almost every other hotel on offer. Need to lower expectations to match price paid. As stated more expensive hotels like Hyatt, Iberostar, Sandals or Excellence will meet your high expectations. People expect things like a change of towels daily but at home change towels and sheets monthly.
