I'm such a lazy jerk, actually: I dress up EVERY Halloween, and I love it... But the month leading up to it this year, neither Katelyn or I could find the time, energy, or imagination to come up with something cool. We both felt SO LAME enjoying that amazing energy without costumes that we both committed to go HARD next year... We have 11.5 months to prep something impressive. You'll just have to wait & see!!

They're everywhere! When I lived in the deep south, in Alabama, we had scores in our backyard! I was obsessed. At one point I had eight hummingbird feeders attached to all of our back windows with suction cups! 👌

Actually - you might be surprised to look at the crime stats: Civilian crime here is waaaaay lower than most US cities - but commonality of the bars on the windows are more of a hint at a cultural difference - there's a heightened sense of "buyer beware" in many avenues of life here, so folks are a lot more proactive about preventative measures with crime. The window bars, pineapple tops at the top of walls or gates - I'd be willing to bet they're way more about visually scaring away potential intruders than any real social indications of necessity.

@GordWilsonsBajaLife I mean Baja is supposed to be much safer than the rest of Mexico. So I was surprised to see bars on the windows. When I hear of all these cartels I wonder why anyone moves to Mexico in general.

Well... in my life I've been very fortunate to travel the world extensively: I lived in the cruise ship world for almost 20 years so I've tallied 93 countries, and counting. The way I see, every single place is going to have pros and cons - there's no true utopia. So, I just try to weigh the scales. For me, Mexico tips very favorably above the US or Canada - or really anywhere else I've been. Yes, sure, there are problems, and there are cartels - yet I feel far safer than I did in Victoria BC, or in Birmingham, AL. I've never lived somewhere where I've experienced as much overall joy, as little stress and fear, and as much consistently fantastic weather & amenities. The people of Mexico, in my opinion are incredibly genuine, caring, and community oriented - so there's a much stronger sense of neighborly values, authentic kindness, and an historical culture so rich in tradition and beauty. Plus, the food & beaches are awesome. You can make up your own mind!! Thanks again for watching, and I truly do appreciate the comments!!

Hi Bryan - this property's on Gral.Manuel Marquez de Leon - it's sort of a divider line between two of the primary "downtown" La Paz neighborhoods: Centro & Pueblo Nuevo. The property's set back quite a ways from the street, so minimal noise, and ultimately it's walkable to just about anywhere, albeit probably a good 25-30 minute walk to the Malecon.

Well, it's pretty common here to build with rebar threaded cinder block, and so indeed many or most homes have high concrete walls or compounds - I can sort of see your point on that but if you came & toured this property I genuinely think you'd change your opinion. It actually feels pretty light & open - and noise is rarely an issue in this part of town - except maybe on Friday & Saturday nights, when everyone likes to have a bit of a party! The glamping trip was fun, but if I'm being totally honest the bacon did not live up to the hype! 😝

Hahaha what I did not admit in the video is that it actually wasn't very good at all! We liked the restaurant and everything about it, but the bacon was kind of garbage! 😝

@@lisawoods588 not true - I've made INSANE candied bacon... but theirs was kinda flabby and fatty and not crispy - plus it was sort of grainy and didn't have much sweetness to it. Major miss. I only ate half of one piece!

PS The Canadian Gov. is as of today running ads to tell Canadians not to travel (anywhere) in Mexico due to gang violence. Using terms like shelter in place and have listed areas to avoid at all cost. Bummer !

@@davebaker489 it's absurd. They ought to switch those ads to be about Vancouver, or Seattle, or New York! Waaaay more gang violence & unpredictable characters in those places than any place I've been in Mexico. Violence in Mexico (typically) is BETWEEN the gangs & the cops; both sides strongly prefer to leave regular Joes out of it... Whereas there's a lot less hesitance to mess with innocent civilians in Canada & the USA.

No, don't believe the hype! La Paz is an amazingly safe city, but some folks just really like the extra comfort of knowing that they're in a gated community - for the same reasons as anyone would in Canada or the US. My partner and I don't live in a gated community, and neither do my mom or my brother, and we all live a very comfortable and successful life here in La Paz!Thanks for watching the channel!

@@GordWilsonsBajaLife Well, the think is with that area of Mexico that it's better connected to the US than to the rest of Mexico. Obviously prices there reflect that. It also makes it safer than the rest of Mexico. But which neighborhoods are you talking about that are not gated? Does it still make sense to buy in there? Or would Dos Santos make more sense. Everything seems to be so expensive by now

It's fair to say that prices are rising, but I would counter that that's happening everywhere, and it's still typically a lot less expensive to live here than in most parts of Canada or the US. As for safety, we've never worried at all here. I do like Todos Santos also, but for me it's just a little small, and I prefer that La Paz has a lot of good infrastructure as far as hospitals and shopping etc.

@@GordWilsonsBajaLife They keep on saying how much Dos Santos Will grow and that that charm it holds will no longer be there in years to come. I have never been down there myself. Just looking into areas to consider
