    @0:08 Investing with Vanguard isn't difficult. Choose the fund, set up the direct debit and leave it for 30 years. Not sure how that can be much simpler!? 😂 Vanguards site is rubbish and that the magic. You invest and leave it because there is basically nothing remotely interesting to do. T212 is like a Amazon shopping for shares. You end up either buying stuff you don't really need or buying more than intended. 😂

    I opened my first SIPP with vanguard around a year ago invest in a single global fund to keep my personal pension simple. I’ll be looking for a new provider because as they don’t support fractional shares, you end up with surplus cash just sitting on the sidelines from both contributions and tax relief which doesn’t get invested if it cannot purchase a full share of the fund, even if you frequently login to manually invest this cash you’re still losing time out the market which will add up to massive loss over decades. No option to auto-invest cash if there’s enough to buy a share, it will just build up till you login and do it.

      Buy a Vanguard Fund rather than an Vanguard ETF and this isn't an issue. But it's crazy that I can by the same Vanguard ETF as a fractional via InvestEngine but not on Vanguard's very own platform. I would move my SIPP to InvestEngine but they have no drawdown facility in place. Not an issue if you're decades away from drawndown but I'm a lot closer.

      @@67eamonn yeah I kinda regret not doing that, I was aware of this but as my global fund in Invest Engine was VWRP I just went with the same to make things simple. Either way I think I’ll jump ship when the brokers start offering some nice transfer offers before April.

      They have to pay FNZ. Watch out the pitfalls! Investing in foreign markets can be challenging due to foreign currency exchange (FX) rate. For example, even though I achieved a 3% total growth on my U.S. stocks, the current FX rates ultimately reduced my gains, resulting in a 2% loss. Now, to avoid locking in that loss, I need to wait for the dollar to strengthen against the pound. As a UK resident, this experience highlights the importance of focusing on investment opportunities that minimize currency risk, such as stocks or ETFs listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) or those traded in euros

    Inflation adjusted investing, didn't inflation adjust the end pot?

    • @FinancialInterestcom
      @FinancialInterestcom 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Inflation adjusting the end pot is a weird thing IMO (obviously understand why it's necessary in some calculations though) because no one really does it with any other form of asset investing e.g. property, but will make comparisons between the returns anyway. It was more to show a simple example of how people could slightly increase their annual deposits for a greater potential return, without it really being noticeable in terms of how much they're putting away.

    • @David-wh7rm
      @David-wh7rm 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@FinancialInterestcom but if you inflation adjust the money going in and end up with 400k in 30 years then it's not 400k in today's spending power, you need to inflation adjust it back to today don't you?

      @FinancialInterestcom 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @David-wh7rm same response really - I don't like inflation adjusted returns (a lot of the time, at least) because then it become incomparable with other investments. No one buys a house, looks at the price 30 years later and then adjusts their return for inflation. Worth noting that Damien disagrees with me (assuming you're a Damien Talks Money subscriber!) and this is just my opinion, and again was more about showing how you can increase deposits slowly over time and using a simple analogy to do so

So I just watched this and it will be invested in QMMFs which is not protected correct? I will use easy numbers for example lets say you have 100 euros in invest account. Can I move it to savings account and the next day get 4,2% /365 days the next day already? Because from the savings account it should be safe right? So can I move my funds that I don't use and funds I want to use from savings ISA account and Invest ISA account easy with no consequence? Also how safe are my funds since it is only insured till 20k since I am not from UK? Because trading 212 holds funds from company and customer apart. So how safe is trading 212 eventually? Great video and very clear. When you open a stocks and shares ISA after April 6th each year you can top up another £20k in that same ISA. So if I held a stocks and shares ISA for 20 years you can top this up every year by £20k? Obviously as long as the rules do not change!

      Correct, assuming you follow other ISA restrictions too

    Is Trading 212 accessible & fully functional with just a laptop & BB? NB: I don't own a wizzy smartphone; I live in the 'dark age' - lol. Thank you.

      Most people use the mobile app but some (including myself) use everything on PC

      It’s actually slightly more featured when using on a pc. For example if you have placed a limit order and it’s not processed, the money is held separate from your available fund but the mobile app dosnt have the ability to show you what stock that order is sitting under. If you have a lot of stock and it dosnt process quickly you can lose track of which share you are investing in.

    I’m curious who’s running this channel because I can see it’s affiliated with Damien but not Damien Ofc

      @FinancialInterestcom 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We have a very small team running things. Damien, Ferg (voiceover & editing), Luke (Chief Executive of Comment Replies Including This One). Damien is very involved with scripts and videos prior to publishing - not just an affiliation! It’s Damien’s brand that allows him to cover more stuff that wouldn’t be a good fit on DTM, mainly due to the algorithm EDIT: also I’m a long time sub to your channel!

    Great video. Thank you. Fidelity appear to have increased their fees since this video and are now charging 0.35%. Unless I am missing something.

      The breakdown of the fees is explained in the linked article. With almost all of these brokers there is a much more expensive way to invest listed rather than the cheapest option for some reason

    A risk with pensions is the government can change the age at which you can access it whenever they want. You should still have a pension, but be aware of this.
