Ive literally been watching this at least daily for like a week i love it so much omg
This song is the reason my vocal chords are super fucked (I loved it so much that I used to sing it like 50 times every day and give myself the worst vocal strain)
Who in the world would have gone to see this??? ^it was then that I realized, ... me. I would.
This is easily my favorite production it’s so funny
:0
Y’all on the soundtrack I can’t find this version lyrics with Marvin takes a victory shower does anyone know where to find it bc I’m just getting the one that’s 1:24 long and starts at the counting part
In the official 1979 recordings the first half of the song is at the end of the ‘your lips and me (reprise)’ track. It starts about a minute in and then rolls over to the Marvin takes a victory shower track. Hope this helps :))

this plays in my head 24/7
2:29 best part
I need to find a full video of this show! I’ve only found one on TH-cam from the 1980s version. I prefer the first though, the changes and lack of the shower scene just wasn’t right
love this sm

This song is so scary and it’s delivered so well here

I barely ever comment but I- we must give it up for the lead here. Absolutely lovely. control. support. dynamics. loved it. I would’ve been moved to tears in person. Odd set background thing.
SCRUBBY DUBBY DUBBG LOOK AT MARVIN TAKE A SHOWAR 😊😊
Is this what it looked like in the off-Broadway?
There is no footage of the off-Broadway I think. It might have looked like that.
Man orlando must be great if they made a whole song about it
btw the main vocalist here now goes by Alyse Alan Louis and has been in an assortment of very cool shows off broadway
and marvin, for what its worth, is a pretty well known director and choreographer. lot of star power in this video
What kind of person washes their *eyes* in the shower?
WHAT. U DONT? LIKE RUB THE OUTSIDE OF THEM?
@@Incyclopidia Yeah man. Incyclopedias right. flip eyelids inside out, good squeeze of no tears eye paste, reset those lids blink til the black clears out and visions clear simple. Most eyewash has lotion already in it but I like to use a separate matte hydroserum after i get out of the shower to keep those orbs looking really sort of dry like beached driftwood - all while locking in hydration and promoting (obviously) a heathy visual biome. If you can’t tell if you need eyewash there’s a trick - if there’s catchlight in your eyes in photos it’s probably damage but not too late for you. if its a ring light - i don’t want to scare you but see an ophthalmologist immediately. Eye washing is about prevention. Crazy people don’t know this. Dirty eyes cause 90% of all vision loss. Eyes are naturally blood red. BIGEYEDROP is LYING to you people you’re bleaching your eyes! And i want to be VERY clear because the internet is weird and forever - that I am joking. I’m making a joke. Like a haha joke. This isn’t factual info. I’m not going to be responsible for randomly spreading misinformation lol. 2:22 Sidenote Marvin’s yell here is really… good? Believable? I can’t think of an adequate word but I liked it. I felt that. good yell. Why am i here at 4am Saturday night. 2024. Why was i compelled to comment. AND acknowledge that i did? I’ll tell you why. I HATE 4th walls. Stab You too 5th wall(time)! With wetmarvin and god as my witness, I’ll kill you too. Ok this was weird even for me… and i was raised on weird! Sorry to lump you guys^^ into my weird joke for maybe like 1 person in 50 years. It’s not really gonna make sense til like 2074 (See below) it’s kind of our thing er i mean will be- no wait i was right the first time. *looks at camera* wink
@@Incyclopidia THATS EYELIDS
i feel bad for Trina having to hold up her arms for so long
Exactly 😭
yoo hoo yoo hoo yoo hoo yoo!
this is probably the most beautiful song from in trousers
1) the actor who plays marvin is HILARIOUS 2) miss goldberg’s voice AH i wanna eat it shes so good 3) i would die for this costuming. miss goldbergs outfit is so miss goldberging. marvin’s suspenders. love it. 4) this version has such a nice balance of mostly fun and silly but also a little disturbing, and we can see at some points that marvin is disturbed. it tells a lot more about the situation and his motivation behind the fantasy than other performances i’ve seen of this song. especially during the “lalalala”s, i could just see him fighting with himself and AH it was great.
From the snips and pieces I can find of different In Trousers productions, it's really cool that they all have such a distinctly unique look and atmosphere!! This one leans into the funny and whimsical (dare I say zany haha) side of the musical which creates an especially amazing contrast with that sense of sorrow and dread we get from Marvin's internal conflict...I feel so much sympathy for the character, but especially this depiction of him. He feels so real. So so cool!!!
to still know the lyrics after all this time
This production probably has one of the nuttier song orders out of the different versions of in trousers
This is from the production I directed as my thesis for my Bachelor's in Directing at NYU. I had several conversations with Bill Finn and he gave me permission to experiment with the order of the material and combining material from different versions. I hope someday Encores or someone gives this material a closer look. It is pretty marvelous (although messy)
wait you directed this?
I did indeed. Many moons ago.@@nodogsinhere
@@robertheller4317I love the mixing of the 1979 and 1985 versions! I Feel Him Slipping Away is my favorite addition to the 1985 version but I’ve always missed Nausea Before The Game and here it is!
I agree! I was lucky enough to have a couple conversations with Bill Finn and he gave me permission to mix the versions and got me access to some of the original (very hard to read) sheet music. It was great fun.@@phelisejoy7118
Wow, whizzer must REALLY like orlando
idk where this production was but it was so good and it makes me so sad that a full bootleg wont ever be released for it
I dmed the uploader on instagram,.,, nothing... tThat was probably 5 months ago or so...
I loev being marvin
this is genius
I would do anything to see Christian Borle perfom this
Or perform the whole "in Trousers" honestly. Doing the whole musical like they did with "Falsettos".
It would be very difficult and expensive but they should do a big reunion of the cast and do In Trousers AND falsettos (either do like a 4 hour musical or do a 2 day thing where you see one the first night and return the next day to see the second one) because holy shit I would die to see Christian borle do in trousers and they could totally double cast Cordelia and Charlottes actors for Ms.Goldberg and Sweetheart
whoever choreographed this deserves an award
i made a whole kazoo cover of this song and almost died from laughter while recording the kazoo “tap dancing” noises

The actress who plays Trina is literally amazing
“The rape of miss goldberg scene 1” HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHARAPEHAHAHAHAHA
if anyone’s still here would someone mind explaining this song to me? it’s not a real rape, correct? i’ve been into falsettos for a few years but realized recently i’d never explored in trousers but everyone was right when they said it was confusing
No, He just takes her glasses to see her eyes 😌🍞✌🏼✨
No, he was fascinating about it
th-cam.com/video/Dz3GpP6949I/w-d-xo.html
it's kind of metaphorical of him struggling with his sexuality and accepting that he is gay, miss goldberg is the type of woman marvin wishes he could have, she's unattainable.
Its supposed to be his fantasy I think. Like he’s trying to force himself to be interested in women by having a fantasy about his teacher so he could start to think more about women. And when he takes off her glasses at the end, he feels special because he’s the only one to see her without them because the whole musical is basically about how he wants to be the centre of attention (I think). And then also the way Jason is interested in more vulger/older women in falsettos, Marvin is doing something similar
THE MOMENT AT THE END WHEN TRINA CATCHES THEM AND MARVIN JUMPS RIGHT UP HE KNOWS THAT HE MESSED UP
Ok so I love this cast of In Trousers and I would KILL to find a full version
the tap dances represent the *sounds of bodies slapping* broskis
okay, i love this a lot, but i have never actually seen ‘in trousers’ so am i _missing_ something when everyone in the comments section keeps talking about whizzer going to florida-
it's just referencing the in trousers broadwaycon reunion in 2017, there's a video of the full thing here, but it's memeing about chip zien and how he thought Marvin was "going to Florida" during whizzer going down
@@misatange okay that's amazing actually, i love that
And the 2016 Whizzer (Andrew Rannells) played Kevin Price in Book of Mormon, who was obsessed with going to Orlandooooo
Is that whatd it about....
so this is what it looks like....
