McLaren 765LT Puts Down Over 1000WHP W/ M-Engineering ProTune
This past week, @Flat6Motorsports sent us this McLaren 765LT for a ProTune. This car was equipped with the following:
- ID1050-XDS Fuel Injectors
- M-Engineering Race Spec Harness
- Pure PT1200 Turbo's
- Upgraded Intercoolers
- Upgraded Exhaust
We performed a ProTune for two fuels (93 Octane & MS109). The car broke 4 digits and ended the session making 1085WHP / 701WTQ on MS109, and 830WHP / 597WTQ on 93 Octane.

    What are my options if I don’t want to flash my car or install another exhaust (keep in mind I’ve already paid for a performance exhaust). Seems silly that there isn’t just a $200 solution to have the valves open fully. Heck the dealer should be offering it free of charge considering how much we spend on these cars…

      I saw a video awhile back on a turbo 4 gts stock that put down 360 to the wheels and 335 tq. Makes sense…..they seem too fast for just “365” hp. I raced a 4.0 gt4 with OAP’s only and kept up with it pretty well. I’m stock but now itching to tune this little beast. APR stage 1 93oct. On that dyno video made 410whp and 410tq. Not bad at all for just a tune. You don’t get that wicked sound of the gt4, but the turbo makes up for it lol

      I have a 600lt and a 720s, so I am familiar with macs. Be interesting to see how well it can keep traction. Ive also ran pure turbos 1000 in a c63s before. I suspect your gonna find a lot of turbo lag. Short shifting 1st, and probably 2nd in the winter, while 3rd and 4th will kick you in the chest. Luckily, Macs have pretty exceptional traction and stability control. PS4S in the winter, R888s in the summer. Radar detector all year!.....Safe travels

    Dealers will know that the car has been tuned now. They basically sold a 992.1 GTS without all the performance upgrades for the price of a last gen 992.1 2S, so the engine should withstand everything fine. I guess dealer relationships will determine whether they honor warranties moving forward. With the updated price, getting the full amount of performance is a no-brainer... can't wait for the 992.2 tune!

      Our software allows you to go back to stock with a true byte for byte file with a verified CVN, CALID, and no raised flash counter. I have yet to hear of anyone running into issues after doing this. Back to stock only takes around 5 minutes. -Charles@M

      I do not recall what make they are. They are a "false" centerlock wheel. So the center comes off and exposes the 5-lug. -Charles@M

      @@sfarrell2459 Headers are one the favorite mods for sound and power on this platform along with OAPs. M-Tuner makes it easy to switch maps in about 1 minute between different octanes. You can request features to be on or off from us and there's no cost to change those. -Charles@M

      @ I have Soul’s competition OAPs and valved exhaust. I have some concern the headers will make the overall too loud. I’ll call when I’m closer to decision time to discuss, but M Engineering’s tune is the one I want.

      Pump gas on bigger turbos does mean some loss in down-low response. Usually for big turbo upgrades we recommend higher octane. -Charles@M

      The two cars share a similar M838T engine but there are some differences. They both make huge power on ethanol. Upgraded injectors and the injector harness are required. Cars with bigger turbos will also need upgraded fuel pumps as well. -Charles@M

    I don’t understand what this mod is actually doing. Is it just allowing the valves to open more fully, like the other hardware-based valve controllers?

      From the factory, the valves only open part of the way. With the PSE valve mod, we force them open 100% so you have louder volume and make a touch more power. -Charles@M

      There are so many variables regarding times and speeds such as tire, tire pressures, DA, wind speed, etc. so the results can be all over the place. We don't normally advertise that. -Charles@M

    Bad ass 👍 I need get that set up on my next GT I loved that car my car had a stage 2 tune on it with downpipes No issues for 3 years numerous 1/2 mile 1/4 mile and roll races Getting another one soon want to do the E85 upgraded turbo’s package you offer I will 1/2 mile and roll race the heck out of it What will a package like that cost minus the downpipes which I already have from my previous GT ?

      @@m-engineeringllc since it has the turbos from the 992.1 gts and intercooler from 992.1 turbo, what do you think stage 1 power would look like for base 992.2? 500 WHP and 500 torque kinda like 992.1 c2s ?

      It is OEM idle control for tailpipe purposes. With upgraded exhaust it becomes more apparent. -Charles@M

      @@loxxrider specifically, a lambda target just slightly leaner than stoich is targeted at idle. This is part of the reason for the dither at idle as the car is trying to correct and run well with a not ideal target. -Charles@M

Very interesting that it gets to mild instability so only slightly leaner than stoich (my experience is that you can go quite a bit leaner while keeping a smooth idle, with the trade off being higher NOX emissions). Anyway, thanks very much for the explanation. When the time comes for a tune, M-Engineering is the obvious choice! 👍

    Great video! I was thinking of getting the M-engineering suite for my GT4 soon.. What are the dyno results for a Stage 2 tune with stock headers, valved exhaust & OAPs (Kline inconel)? And would a Stage 2 tune be applicable with my setup?

      The reason we do these on the dyno is to watch and manage torque to help save the rods! -Charles@M

      I think when you go that hard you should send it to cannonball and beef up the internals first and save yourself the headache later.....You two always kill it literally the DREAMTEAM lol.
