Black Beauty Returns to Nebraska - Dad’s 1981 K10 Scottsdale Makes the Journey.

For the last couple of year’s I’ve been working on dad’s old 1981 K10 Scottsdale. With some inspiration from @ViceGripGarage I said, “Might as well give it a shot and see if it’ll make the drive.” Here’s what the 7 hour drive looked like.

Winter 2023 has come and gone. Did I get all the things accomplished that I wanted? No, not at all. And I'm not even sure what I did is going to make much of a difference. But I'll try to update you sooner with a summer 2023 video of me driving it and testing things out. This winter I took on a few different projects. I tried my hand at some body work aka making the existing paint shine. I also...
Not A Mechanic - Making and Replacing the Windshield on an Arctic Cat Prowler UTV
มุมมอง 5992 ปีที่แล้ว
Our 2012 Arctic Cat Prowler side by side had a windshield you could barely see the road through. I tried to "buff" the windshield but ended up royally screwing it up. So I went to Home Depot and bought a piece of plexiglass and cut it into the shape of the old windshield. Once again, I am not a mechanic. I don't know what I'm doing and if you think I did this wrong or could do it better. . .I h...

Don't know if I'm gonna do a body swap or just take the motor out of the Scottsdale but I will think of this video when I have a rough day with it . Cheers to the beers !

      Yeah lots of salt on roads in Nebraska. It was also a farm truck for all of it's life so it was regularly coated in mud, manure, dirt, corn stalks and whatever else it was driven through. It's living an easier life now in Fargo lol.

    This gives me hope. My dad's daily when he was younger was a 1980 k20 and has been sitting in our backyard for 13+ years. I've decided, being the 17 I am, to take the responsibility and use this as a project truck. (P.S. I've never seriously worked on a vehicle.)

    • @JasonDannelly
      @JasonDannelly ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome man! take you time on it and don't get frustrated. There's a ton of resources out there and you can find good affordable parts. The best advice I got is this. It's your truck. Do what you want. Don't pay attention to all these guys that are like "Oh no you gotta do this this and this to make it sweet" etc. If you want it to run and drive, work on that. If you want it to be a show truck that you're taking to competitions, that's cool too. It's whatever you want. I just want a beater I can drive to and from work and have a little fun with!

      @Jason Dannelly out of curiosity, do you remember how much it cost to restore?

      @JasonDannelly ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brantanderson6121 Rough numbers. . .I spent about $1000 on the wiring harness, $1000 on the Dakota Digital set up. Replaced the starter ($75), water pump(like $55?), thermostat (Minimal), fuel pump ($65) and got a new heater core. I can't remember what I paid for the core but it was minimal. New gas tank was like $125. Honestly, I got a lot of stuff from LMCTruck or at least looked at their site to figure out what I needed before going to a local parts store.

    Dude I'm only 4 minutes in the video and going to have to say that anyone that thinks you're crazy for fixing up that truck that has family history are all lazy jack asses. I have a 89 3/4 square body. (3/4 1 tons were square body till 91) that truck i could say was scrap when i bought it picked up the back like you did the frame broke in half. Also, like someone else said for u bolts you need to replace them anyways so i just use a cheap Electric grinder with the thin cut off wheel and cut them both sides its quick easy but not much of a workout. Good luck with this project except for the bed it looked pretty solid so I have no idea why someone wouldn't fix it up chevy parts are so cheap.
