Recently, I had the maiden flight of my 3rd Top Flite Warbird, P-47D Thundebolt wit the great help of my Air club member, S.G.Cho. Making this airplane (scratchbuilt) needed almost 2 decades! From opening the kit box to finish monokote wrapping... there had been a lot of stories and changes in my hobby life. I hope you enjoy this video clip together with making video.

I started this scratch building Radio Control War Bird in the Feb of 2005. But had to stop buiding after few month, and kept her into the vinyl pack in my warehouse almost 17 years. Last year, in April, I opened the pack and did it my best to finish this long journey. I hope, I can fly her to the sky mid Sep. 2022! Please enjoy this construction video!

This brings me back lol . I made a balsa spitfire kit when I was a boy , let's just say itwas never going to fly, but I was proud of myself and thought it looked amazing 😂

There's one for sale in Europe, and it comes with the cockpit which has been discontinued. I asked if I could buy the cockpit only as I already have the kit ready to build this summer, but he said no :(
This stired a childhood memory of starting this build in a class at primary school about 50 years ago. We got as far as building the wings I think. There were pink blood stains in some of the balsa parts I do remember that detail.
The scene of the P47 passing under the sun is reminiscent of a scene from the movie 'Empire of the Sun', even though it is an RC airplane.

Hello Kim Very nice build. I just got my hands on three top flite kits that I will build the next 2 years. (P40, P47, and F4U) will have all electric retreats and Satio 4 stroke engine.

Thank you. I opened the box on Aug 31, 2022 and finished assembling on Nov 08, 2022. It means 82 days. But there were many days I couldn't touch the plane, and I did 2~3 hours a day. I think, it needed 90 ~ 100 hours total.

nope you wont belive how many signal loss spektrum has. futaba frsky powerbox or jeti is the way to go on these kinds of models...
after a good landing and in one piece, the pilot smiles and sigh of relief. I have noticed the tyres weren't inflated full and needed more air. Good flying skills and landing though puts smile on my face too!😊
