Hope you’re getting good yields, do you end up baling all your straw afterwards then?
@@dustinadams9136 we bale until we hit 300 then spread the rest.
I was hiking out west blm land and most the cows would just take off. Then I rounded a corner and there was a giant bull. He did not run just stood there staring at me. I walked around gave him a wide berth
@@Willrocs smart
Over a thousand lbs. And four wheel drive they are .
Any tips for ensuring the poles are plumb? Not sure how to use a level with a tapered pole…
Glad to see you guys are getting some hay making weather, it’s been a real struggle for us here.
Same here
You're ahead of us.. but I'm still going through a new to us big baler...UHG..
Hi Diamond Heart Ranch, my name is Roan. I'm a 34 year old South African seeking employment on farms in USA. I was wondering if you perhaps hire foreign workers under the H2A visa program? Any info would be much appreciated.
How did you keep everything square and compensate for the poles tapering smaller towards the top?
Nothings perfect but the animals are happy. Lol
@@DiamondHeartRanch right on, I understand. Just wondering, I am a lineman at the local power company and as you can imagine, I have a pile of poles. Just trying to figure out the best way to utilize them and still make my barn look good. I’m no carpenter, but I think yours looks really good.
@@saulgoodman1730 I used stakes and a string line to get the main building “poles” square on the bottom. You can adjust the top as you go. It’s not perfect but no one sees it. Good luck. I wish I had more poles.
What make is the watertrough that does not freeze? Your cattle look in great order.
Ritchie water fountains. Thanks. The fountains have electricity on them with heating elements under the water troughs.
Great video Greg
Nice looking heifers Greg
New girls just waiting for summer fun. 😊
Nice looking girls. We drove through ND, from Hwy 85 by Dickenson all the way over to Brainard, MN yesterday via I94. We saw there was going to be weather today, so went back to the BlackHills via I90. We picked up some registered heifers (Belted Galloway). Did you get some rain and snow today? Thanks for sharing.
Yes just a dusting of snow then rain a little. I’m sure the road will get icy tonight.

Willie Nelson- What a Guy! Hope we will see him Up Above!☝️ 🙏🏻😎
Oops! Did it survive?
Mixer wagon swallowed it. Found it while unloading. Seems ok.
@@DiamondHeartRanch lucky!! Hopefully it is alright!
That was informative....thanks for sharing.
do your calves go to a salebarn? I have been working with some red angus ranches in ND. Buying their calves and then getting carcass data back to on an individual animal basis.
We’ve sold several different ways but the last two years we went to a sale barn.
Excellent video sir. Thanks for sharing

Do you feed free choice minerals year round
No I miss a few months here and there
Awesome video, this is a good way to show people how much feed a farmer/rancher has to put up to get there herd through the winter. Is there an ethanol plant near you to utilize some DDG's in your mixture, it has good value for cattle/feeder calves. Stay warm and safe from here in SE South Dakota
Thanks for sharing
Looks like a good mixture, I bet they clean it up really nicely. Because of the mud here I had to quit feeding the chopped mixture I was using and go back to just bales in feeders. The cow cubes would be a wonderful option I believe just no one in my area supplies them unless you want a semi load at a time. As always thanks for sharing!
Beautiful sight, all the ladies happy at their munchies
Have you considered using ddgs?
Are you referring to corn distillers grain. I did it once. It will take all your profits in my opinion.
@@DiamondHeartRanch we use the dry here,so we can put it in a bulk tank. Most use the wet
@@kevin.463 I know that it’s very good. The last time I did it my nutritionist had me add other mineral ingredients to help with the cows gut so seemed to be pricey. I’m sure there’s many ways to do it.
Looking good. 57 here today. Hope that doesn’t mean a dry summer. Good mixture for the final gestation period.
Enjoy your gentle ways working these cattle.
