Easy to tie carp fly pattern - the Hammerhead.
มุมมอง 1117 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
This carp fly pattern is easy to tie and uses only a few materials. I substitute rabbit for Sparkle leech dubbing to get a softer cast while still keeping a fairly bulky profile. Slow strip this on the bottom if front of a tailing fish, and they will usually hoover it right up.

In terms of bass fishing, there is a pile of rigs out there. One that I have neglected to try is the Tokyo Rig. Not knowing if it's my cup or tea, I decided to make one instead of buying pre-made rigs. So come along and let me show you how to make your own for pretty darn cheap!
fly tying super buggy nymphs - tying the Scaddis Nymph.

Let's tie some flies! This little pattern is just plain buggy! And because of that, the trout will be lining up! The translucent body is very natural looking and easily mistaken for a host of different insects. Change up colors and adapt what you wish because this technique is super adaptable and fun to play around with!
Fly fishing tools - my hands down favorite strike indicators
มุมมอง 14Kวันที่ผ่านมา
Fly fishing indicators can often be a must! The New Zealand indicator system is not brand new, but it's surprising how few people utilize it. I'm not sure why, as they are cost-effective, easy to make, and float easily customized on the stream to fit your needs! Put together this handy little kit and you will love it!

Fly tying tutorial, tying the No-Brainer dry fly
Dude...awesome pattern. One question from a new(er) guy: Do you cut that theraband WIDTH wise?! That would make sense to me, just checking on what you do! What are you looking for?! The gape of the hook? I suppose a guy could cut any width, depending on the size hook! Again, glad to have found your channel and great idea for a fly! I tried some "maggots" with rubber bands but might have to go to local wally world and look for this stuff!! haha
@69adrummer Hey, Thanks! I just eyeball my cut. I shoot for around 1/8" wide or so. And yea, I cat it the width. It doesn't take a very long piece at all. The width is adjustable as you tie because you can stretch it to make it more narrow if needed.
Looks cool! I might make one just for the heck of it even though i don't fly fish
@squirrellydan1277 Thanks! With the right tackle, it will hold smaller tackle. It would be a good extra hand to hold hooks switching lures, etc.
@kypesandstripesoutdoors I don't want to be a bother but do you have an ETA on that trout kit I won? Just want to know when to watch for it so a porch pirate doesn't snag it. UPS? USPS?
@squirrellydan1277 USPS, it should be the first of the week next week. We had really poor weather, so I wasn't able to get it out until the end of the week. I will look around and see if I can find a tracking number. If I do, I will send it to the email correspondence we had going.
@kypesandstripesoutdoors no worries. Thanks
Man you need to market this!
@@marshallbrooks3504 Thanks! I am actually kicking around linking some kind of marketplace to my channel. Stay tuned for that!
I prefer to use a open eye wire . That way i just bend over the lure body and i add a small swivel to tie off to and prevent line twist
@@gregchilders7643 sounds like a good solution! Thanks for sharing and tight lines
That is a Crackin’ Pattern Mate 🎉 Thanks for the Show 😊 ❄️🎣🧊
Thanks! You're most welcome! Tight lines!
Handy little tool. Thanks
All you need is a inline spinner of choyce ! I bet it would be even cheaper than buying all this premade parts.
@Dr._Spamy on the cheaper side of inline spinners, you can take a Yakima original rooster tail, which comes in on average at $2.94 each. You can buy a starter kit to make these spinners at $32.39. That starter kit will make 24 complete spinners of varying sizes many of which are larger, which would actually be more expensive to buy pre made. If you are to buy 24 Yakima rooster tail spinners at $2.94, that would equal $70.56. Mepps spinners would be in the range of $95.76 for 24, Panther martins would be in the neighborhood of $119.76, and Joe flies in the neighborhood of $95.28. That puts making these around $1.34 each to make. Hope that helps! Tight lines!
Now I'm no "purist" or anything - but somehow I - "feel dirty" - for just having watched this video. : ) Now, I'm not saying I won't be tying a few up - I'll just feel like I need to go to confession afterwards.
The bottle you use for the oil also makes a good worm inflator good for trout fishing
@natsuttv Yep! I've done that in the past! I have a bunch of these bottles because they are so useful! Good tip! Thanks!
Looks like an old President. Do you have a preferred oil?
@squirrellydan1277 It sure is an old president! Good eye! Awesome bang for the buck reels! I use reel butter a Abu Garcia precision. Any reputable reel oil works fine. I've used about all of them over the years.
Yes I’ve made a few of those as well as Colorado, willow, and Indiana blade spinners.
Good deal! They are fun to experiment with! I always stay loaded up with spinners. One of the greatest of all time!
I've always heard that maggot cluster fly referred to as a "Starfish."
@jamesvatter5729 nice! I've never heard it called that before! Thanks for some extra knowledge!
Sweet😊
Thanks! Tight lines!
I guess that's a fly
@rabbittroll4247 I guess it is, too.
Is that where the coffee grinder went, I've been looking for that, lol.😂
That's not your coffee grinder!! I bought that forever ago!!
Wow, helpful, thanks.
Now you can catch all the fish with your jerkbait of choice!
I understand your autism cause I go thru too😂, but is a great way to make several of them for cheap. 👍
Haha, for sure! Thanks for stopping by and tight lines!
Nice little tutorial! I might have to give that rig a try this season.
Thanks! I was intrigued by it for sure! I will probably do a long form video about it once we get out of the single digit temps, lol. Thanks for stopping by!
Looks like a san-juan worm orgy
Hell's Kitchen straight up. Get back to natural material basics ma man...
@zhuanjifarms5050 come on! Everyone needs some trash flies! No, your point is valid, my friend. I have alot of pattern written down to tie and most of them are back to basics. This fly holds a special place for me because it lead to alot of great memories for inexperienced fly fisherman. So I just thought I would share it.
What great looking fly, is that the only color you tie them in?!!
@bradleyflood4213 Yep. This is the only color I have personally fished them in. I'm sure there are merits to try other colors. Tan would be meal wormish, and green gets into some Caddis nymphs.
@@kypesandstripesoutdoors I agree. I don't see too much criticism when Lance Egan ties on a mop and clears out what's left of the hole he's just fished with "natural" perdigons or jigged streamers. Just make it barbless and watch the handling. Thanks for sharing what for me is a new idea junker.
@jtahoe5672 Sure thing! I personally don't get all caught up in traditional vs. non-traditional nonsense. I'm out to catch fish and have fun doing it. It's fishing! It's not that serious, lol! If someone doesn't like something, just don't use it.
Love those! You've given me the perfect excuse to buy a new tool, a round nose pliers. What makes it a "French" spinner?
@squirrellydan1277 Good deal! It's actually the blade choice that makes it "French" as those are "French blades. At its core, it's an inline spinner. There are a ton of blade options out there, and they each do things ever so slightly different.
i actually made one of these with a 1.5 ounce bullet weight i had lying around my tacklebox. works pretty well!
Good deal! It is certainly better than twisting by hand, lol. I made one a while back with bearings, and I may do a full-length video on it at some point. Thanks for stopping by! Tight lines!
Simple and thorough tutorial. Thanks.
@msgtjim4692 sure thing! A spinner is often hard to beat and there is something so rewarding about catching a fish off one that you made!
I'm going to give this a try 🔥
@@christophertomlinson6658 This pattern will make purists want to hurt you. But the fish love it!! Give em a try! Tight lines!

Oh yea, I agree! Reaction bites with bass will have them hoovering just about anything lol
@kypesandstripesoutdoors do u know the candy called mamba the strawberry flavor works for catfish I found that out this past summer
@sparkyhughes8582 I'm not familiar with it! But I will have to look into it. I'm always excited about bait hacks!
@kypesandstripesoutdoors it's kinda like Starburst or now and later I like to experiment when the fish aren't biting to see what they will bite on. I fig they already aren't biting so why not lol
@sparkyhughes8582 haha! For sure! If they are tight-lipped, then you have nothing to lose. I will have to check those out.
I just found your channel and now I'm hooked!
I appreciate it!!! Thanks for checking out our content!
Your hook on the paperclip version is upside down, other than that I think it work just fine. I have made lots of different things with paperclips for fishing and they work just fine. If anything, they might get a bit of rust on them, but like you said, they are cheap so it's really not an issue. Anyway Great video, and tight lines. :)
Haha, I was so focused on the paperclip aspect that I didn't even notice! Thanks, I will get that switched around!
I'm hooked. That wooly bugger spinner you made lots awesome. Bet it would work great in some California high Sierra lakes
@bunzoreviews8049 Thanks! It's a fish catcher! I have caught many trout off the black gnat Joe Fly. That got me thinking, and the bugger spinner was the result. It's worked like a charm! Thanks for stopping by, and you've been entered!
Hard to work a jerkbait on the frozen lakes and rivers up here in Minnesota. Spring should be here in about 5 months though
I hear ya, my friend! We are hitting single digits first of next week, so it will be a while before I'm out harassing any bass, lol.
She's a beaut Clark. I've never fished a Tokyo before but looks easy enough to make
@squirrellydan1277 haha! Great movie! Thanks they are super easy to throw together. I'm looking forward to giving it a try!
Consider putting your parts list in the description. Make it easier for us knuckle heads to find.
@@leonardo338 Thanks for the suggestion! I can certainly try to start doing that.
My most favorite and best rod i own, is also the cheapest one i own. Its an Ultralight Daiwa that cost me $14 like 25 years ago. It has outfished and outlasted every rod i ever owned. Even the expensive and "durable" rods ive had broke after some time.
It's always awesome to come across hidden gems like that! I have always had great luck out of Diawa! I actually just ordered one of their travel rods that I plan to review.
Cool pattern I'm definitely going to give it a try
