I'm the Vamps player in the team that came second. It was a great event, super fun. I'm keen for more games of TOW. One of my teammates had never played in a team event before, he said "This is the most fun I've had playing Warhammer." Odyssey is a huge store, lots of stock on the shelves, staff are really friendly and Mitch himself is very enthusiastic about what he does. A++ would recommend.

1:30:00 Heresy is alive and well in certain areas around the country (and the world). It largely comes down to the community and the community leaders (EO's) who play the game. For example Adelaide had a fully booked out (30+) narrative 30K event just this weekend gone and have another two to three lined up. Similarly Tasmania has a strong and vibrant Heresy scene going

I really don't like the Runesmith BSB. Entirely too vulnerable at 2W and T4, and once he's in combat he isn't dispelling even with Spellbreakers. The purpose of the 5 point magical engineering rune is to give you a cheap way to duplicate a rune loadout My local tournament also disallows special characters and mercs so no Doomseekers.

I will be fifty - years - old on August 12th, so the dwarf update is coming just in time for me. Dwarfs were my first minis / army ever.

The ungrim interpretation that slayers don’t count as core % is not RAW, Its only an issue if you haven't read / don’t remember the army comp rules in pages: 277 and 278 in the rule book - the rules clearly specify how to read the army compositions, (if an entry in the composition does not start with a number the unit is optional / has no requirments), - to say its RAW ignores multiple written rules 😂

That Army of Infamy smells a lot like a BSB in a big unit of rangers, a runesmith in hiding behind terrain for dispels, and all 'copters otherwise. I think that is legal and playable.

The Bugman's Cart probably can be buffed by a second cart by the letter of the rules. It obviously shouldn't be able to - my driver has had a tankard of the stuff in his hand for the last 36 years or so and I reckon the only effect he'll ever get from it at this point would be if someone took it away from him. In any case the driver is hardly providing the motive force that moves the cart so really you would need to be fielding a Bugman's trough to get the pony going. That said, rules-wise you can probably fill a Gyrocopter's tank with Bugman's...

I need the book before I can be accurate but the impression is Royal Host to not be particularly competitive as a choice (melee focus on M3 or M4 with carts) while the expeditionary force seems far stronger because it plays into the dwarves’ strengths, amplifying them.

Question to the hive mind. With the tattoos, are they on top of the runes they can already purchase? So a deamon slayer would have 100pts of weapon 25pts talismanic and 2 tattoos. That how I read it as it give you a set amount. That’ll make a deamon slayer….. well a deamon in combat

Also the engineers hostile terrain rule is just an anti-fanataic force field now! Lol

That bugmans cart is gonna be huge i bet ya! Even though its only range 6, the blasting charges will be awesome because they will count towards combat res, so all the dawi inf blocks are increasing their static combat res by 2-5.

1:30:00 completely agree, and I know lots of Dwarf players will hate it, but full Slayer armies feel completely off lore-wise and they should largely be add on units, not really their own full blown army. But each to their own I guess.

It will be very interesting testing out an army that has 500+ points the opponent cannot get when its killed.

1:02:00 Pretty sure that War Machines and their crew are now considered a single model and that the Crew models are representational. The Crew stat line effectively indicates how many Crew the machine has by the number of Wounds/Attacks it has and each time the CREW takes a Wound those stats are reduced by 1 each. So in this case, unless they have made a mistake, the War Machine has a SINGLE crew because the Crew Wounds is 1 (which does indeed seem a mistake lol)

Slayers are added to core. They count towards 25%. Otherwise you'd be able to max 50% of characters plus daemon slayers and dragon slayers

Great Bat rep! The Skeleton Archers are exceptionally good. Also beast men don’t have much armour. Against a 2+ or someone with no large targets they will not be as dominating. Did the level 1 ever cast plague of rust?

I think the Lore Familiar is a weaker choice in any list with an item that gives you +1 spell if placed on a level 4, unless the army hinges on spell combos. The ability to get a signature spell is too valuable when it's as good as Black Horror.

Earthen Ramparts means a fanatic dies.

The skirmish change is friggn devastating for dwarf rangers. I don't think I'll be able to run more than 6 or 8 in skirmish. Otherwise I'll just lose more than half my unit if an opponent engages with me.

Agree that the one Fanatic per 10 Night Goblins is a good thing. Would have liked them to go further so that if the unit was reduced by missile fire or whatever that as it reached certain points fanatics were either killed (would be slightly better) or automatically released (would be magnificent in terms of O&G silliness). Don't know if the significant chance of them staying in the same spot is a good or a bad thing, have to wait and see. I do think it adds to the case for being able to shoot them though which of course you should be able to anyway. You say they don't die on a double if you roll a 'Hit' on the scatter die - I don't see anything to back this up so pretty sure they still die.

Thanks again for coming down to CBR for the event. And being legends for taking on two hard lists in the first round. Yeah had a scramble with a couple of tables terrain so apologies you ended on up on those that weren’t templates for woods like the other tables. Moving players table around rather in edition to Swiss pairing for the win next time. As a competitive event there is no issue with refusing to engage a gun line build. As long as players can cordially resolve agreeing to a draw or playing out a dull game of chicken. Plenty of other events will have Packs to deal with these situations being less an issue. In this case it was a useful learning experience of limitations of the game for all.

The handler thing fixes the rat ogre problem. On a 5+ you ignore hits on them.

‘Hit!’ Means ‘Hit!’! Template does not move! Common sense prevails. No offence to 8th Ed player or older but just reading these rules it was abundantly clear that vortex don’t move.

I'm not sure your interpretation of the Impact Hits in a challenge is completely correct or I've misunderstood you. Just to clarify, I think if you challenge or accept a challenge from a character in the unit you made base to base contact with in a turn in which you charged, your Impact Hits must still be directed to the challenger not the unit. In the case where you're charged by a unit to your flank or rear and then challenged, your Impact Hits must be inflicted on the unit the chariot charged and not the challenger.
