    • @FerreraGlen
      @FerreraGlen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had very few false sets with this. I've used small and medium shiners. If you use something really large that keeps setting it off, you can bend the part that goes through the top eye to make it less sensitive... I think.

    The hanger the longer the metal hanger the less force is needed to release the rod tip?

    have you tried it? i think if you made the pvc so that the rod is closer to 90 the hookset would be more agressive

    • @FerreraGlen
      @FerreraGlen 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I have used it quite a bit and I've had a lot of hookups with it. I did change the angle and the length of the PVC rod holder a little bit so that the real is not sitting on the wood. By doing that I do have a more aggressive snap when the hook is set

    how wide is your boat? and how much weight do you think it will hold? i am also curious about the height of the sides the reason i am asking is years ago i made a sneak boat 12ft and i weigh about 300lbs and am a big guy and i have been thinking about a pirogue and i am sure i would have to customize it to accept my weight

    • @FerreraGlen
      @FerreraGlen 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm 180 and had my wife it in it. She is much less than me but I won't take a guess at her weight because I fear for my life LOL. As for the dimensions. I'll have to check and get back to you but it may be a while as it is currently covered with snow. This is where I got the idea and basic instructions for the boat. toledocommunityboathouse.com/2013/130316_lzwk/index.htm. They may be able to tell you more as far as weight capacity. I guess you could always use half inch instead of the quarter inch I used but I'm sure it will add to the overall weight of the canoe and the ability for one person to load and unload it.
