Where is the recitative Mr L? Surplus to need it would seem, thus an insult to the composer. Why do you suppose Handel wrote it only to be by‐passed in your case?! Thrilling as the decorations are they're tastelessly, ostentaciously way overdone here, were they more sparingly offered they'd make for greater listening pleasure. The general interpretation is nothing less than sumptuous in timbre, expessed with great feeling. And, halleluja, for once he visually behaves himself - none of his usual visual gymnastics marring the delivery. The result is that we're more readily drawn to the prrformance, not the performer and quite rightly. On that topic, I'm not sold on the white suit. I think it places an undue spotlight on the performer, the least important contributor to the proceedings: you are meant to be the conduit between composer, librettist and hearer, not a fashion ambassador demanding 'Look at me, look at me, look at me, don't I look splendid?' IT'S NOT ABOUT Y O U, IT'S ABOUT WORDS AND MUSIC, or at least it ought to be...

I could do without the visual antics, which are massively off‐putting. A bucket of cold water liberally sloshed over him might curb his theatrics (I don't think anything else would work). La mécanique est tellement parfaite que tous les airs finissent par se ressembler, mais où est par ex. le "chiaroscuro" si important, si recherché ? : le « chiaro » étant la légèreté, la finesse et la clarté du timbre, « l’oscuro »étant l’empâtement, la rondeur, le moelleux, et bien sûr, la présence de résonances de poitrine particulièrement sous-jacentes dans la voix de castrat ? Il n'y en a pas . Ce n'est pas aussi simple que ça de chanter cette aria ...et d'autres.....Bonne chance !
