    Decades ago I was flying to Cambridge for advanced trainings in what was then my field of massage therapy. Adore that town. That's when I swam in Walden Pond which I thought was so cool. Before that I spent time with a Bostonian friend I was visiting who showed me everything. I LOVED that place. I was so amazed that you could actually walk all over the city with your own two feet instead of getting in a car. I want to go back but would for sure choose cooler weather. The history, age of the buildings, founding father stuff, yep, easy to be proud of what went down to found this country. It's nice to share all of it with a friend. That orange used to be called "International Orange" probably because no one but an explorer or mountain climber would wear it so in a search and rescue situation searchers would look for that color to find tho lost or injured person. That "sun hat"; doesn't cover the ears and side of face - right where I developed skin cancer. If a rescue helicopter couldn't locate someone on a mountain near treeline, it means the lost dudes didn't have a fire which they should have been prepared to do and been their first order of business.

    • @jetsethome
      @jetsethome 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very interesting about the orange color. It’s my favorite color so I wear it all the time. My sun shirt has a hood which fits perfectly over the hat covering my neck, ears and face. Thank you for your concern. I also had my sun umbrella for added protection. Do you do a lot of backpacking and outdoor adventuring? Other than a way to start a fire would you add anything to my list? My concern with advising people to start fires in the back country is of course the risk of a forest fire. Although it’s an essential part of survival is it smart to suggest it to a day hiker who might not know all of the safety protocols when a survival bivy and packaged food is in their pack? While I was hiking the PCT and other long trails I had to carry a fire permit . I have yet to start one even when hiking in the snow.

    • @samshepperrd
      @samshepperrd 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jetsethome there are two sets of rules. (A) What's allowed in every day life and (b); what's only allowed in a critical emergency situation. In advising a hiker to carry fire starting gear also advising them of the danger involved and what devastation can result from a second of inattention. This advice would vary depending on local conditions. Survival shows like "Survivor Man" and TH-cam channels line "The Grey Bearded Green Beret" should impress this upon their viewers. Trapping and eating forest creatures may be bad by everyday rules. But if you're lost and freezing and hungry, by all means, safely start a fire and if you can bag a squirrel with a rock it might just provide enough strength to make it to safety. Whereupon everyday rules once again apply.

    Hi Stripes! All good stuff. It's so important to be prepared. I even have an EDC of stuff that stays in my purse. For the people on that trail my thoughts always go to "what were they thinking?" They were lucky you came along. What elevation do you live at? I'm at a little over 2700 ft. so I'm impressed seeing you hike to 10,000. Ugh, my body would not like that. I easily get altitude sickness. I backpacked in CO long ago and was fine at 7500ft until I wasn't at 10,000. ha ha. I'd go slow on paying off that student debt. Though not so slow as to wait till the presidential election. If the administration is handling our student debt relief, most owing it are at least due some relief since education is such a racket in the US and really ought to be at least rolled back to 1990:levels when I received a community college AS degree. The videos on this channel have been informative and entertaining. Viewers like myself owe the creator nothing. Quite the contrary. And hello the elderly is such a needed and honorable work.

      @@sjordan7085 I'm against Biden's proposed blanket student debt forgiveness too. But the last 40 years colleges have changed priorities from education to getting rich off the backs of poor young people ann and taxpayers. And to the extent a student has been affected by this fraudulent education establishment, some award should be forthcoming. Ideally from the fraudulent diploma mill schemes to the students they billed and left with useless diplomas.Education at community college used to be almost free. We as a society benefited greatly from the skilled and educated individuals this produced. A lot of our present problems result from poor education of citizens.

    Keep after it! I have had shoulder issues since a fracture in 2016, including chronic pain. My PT has been the linchpin in my treatment. In addition to post op therapy, he has stuck in there with me since an op for frozen shoulder in 2018. He is the one who listened over and over again to my dismay at having been blown off by one shoulder doc. He and his colleague were the ones who talked me down after that experience and who helped me to find a new and more compassionate shoulder doc. He has now walked along through two more shoulder ops and two additional years of chronic pain. He is the one who recommended the sports med doc who has done five diagnostic injections around my shoulder blade. The sports med doc is also the one who followed up after a CT found a miscellaneous rib fracture and who picked up the ball with a referral to a different shoulder doc, one who pays attention to the area where I am having difficulty. My PCP is female-all the others are guys. There are some good ones out there :) My list sounds like yours: ice, heat, meds, Pilates, acupuncture (which has actually been amazing), massage with medically aware therapists. It’s not ‘all in your head ‘ :)

    Glad to hear you've finally got a good doctor and more clarity about your back. I was a massage therapist for ten years and yes your muscles hold memory and that can be released. I lean towards alternative medicine but believe in combining Allopathic (traditional medicine) along with it. I gain meaningful and important information with traditional medicine that can help me choose which path to walk (complimentary/alternative) for healing. I like to first know what's going on with any needed tests etc. then go from there on how to deal with the issue be it medication, acupuncture, PT, naturopathic medicine, massage, yadda yadda.

      thank you friend. do you think massage would help? I don't' really like being touched by strangers but I am open to almost anything. I really want to explore the idea that my body is holding onto trauma and how to let that go.

    It's the Medical Industrial Insurance Complex. I had to hire a private practice dermatologist to find out i have skin cancer. The "care" supplied by the state insurance said 'don't worry, you're super healthy.'. Coroner's services are a lot cheaper than an oncologist. Many practicing physicians have immigrated to America, leaving their home country with a physician deficit to live the live of reality stars we've all heard of. they've crammed to pass medical exams 90% of which haven't changed in 100 years. They may have lingering resentments against Americans who they regard as pampered complainers who it is their job to pander to those complaints oblivious to aid them in maintaining real heay. they will prescribe ☠️ happy pills that addict you and earn them perks from pharmaceutical corporations that are responsible for the deaths of millions that continue to peddle poison in spite of lawsuits and public outcry. When their victim-patients can't afford to continue their legal heroin they resort to street heroine which destroys all they hold dear and necessary for life. Don't get injections or surgery. Find out all you can about the source of pain and focus every kind of care in it. No one else can do thus for you.

    What? You were referred to a specialist who gets it?! Well your old PCP did one thing right! 😂 So happy to hear you are moving in a positive direction now.
