    I know John is big on shaft flex or shaft pressure. Are you trying to flex the shaft through impact with this drill or is the objective only to keep the club face square and not flip?

    • @HogansApproach
      @HogansApproach 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The shaft should naturally hold some flex as you gently accelerate the club head through the strike. As far as flipping goes, this drill will prevent you from flipping and teach you to maintain a more square clubface relative to the arc the club is traveling on. Someone who flips the club will struggle starting the ball on line consistently, this drill should teach people out of flippy mechanics!

    John Erickson's Magic Trick is the best drill ever. If you saw off the finish before P4, you can see if the clubface is still looking at the target or if you've flipped it.

      @@admiraltamalak7559 I think statistically speaking you nailed it, Scottie led the tour in 2024 season with a GIR stat of 73% and Morikawa leads so far in 2025. In general though all these guys on tour control the face well, stand outs who do it better than others I think are the guys that are consistent across large spans of time.

      Hey Kx, You look like you have a pretty athletic move and definitely blessed with great range of motion. Keep following along with the channel. After ground force training (keep in mind that motion follows force) I'm going to roll out some owning your swing videos. How each and everyone can understand their golf swing and how their body operates the most efficiently. Thanks for tuning in!

    Great aid in balance and feel. I took a dowel rod from Lowe.s and mounted to my balance board by countersinking for screw and works great. Also put a rubber mat on top so I could hit balls with it . This is simple and works super. Thanks for great videos

      I like the innovation Robert! Train these drills for a few months and I really think people will be surprised by the results. Focusing on the flow of energy and timing of these forces can really ramp up your swing's efficiency and ability to produce speed regardless of age and athletic ability.

    I'm not sure of the purpose of the plywood, I thought you were going to stand on it somehow and then swing so your back foot would slip a bit as shown by tiger yet you seemed to keep your feet quite planted. could you explain a bit more?

    • @HogansApproach
      @HogansApproach 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This drill is an introduction to the ground reaction forces you see Tiger, Scottie, and Rory using. The plywood board gives you something to squeeze the inner feet against and provides resistance. As you squeeze the board and focus on keeping the right heel planted, the right knee and right hip should begin to work slightly downward and toward the target as you are rotating in the downswing. As the right hip and right knee begin to move properly, you will feel an increased ability to push off of the left foot and right foot, creating the pelvic torque Dr. Greg Rose explained at the beginning of the video. Tiger and Scottie's right foot slipping shows that the force that they are pushing with is overcoming the frictional force provided by their golf shoes. Legend has it, Ben Hogan had an extra spike on his right shoe. Maybe he understood a thing or two about his golf swings connection to the ground! Let me know if this explanation helps!

      @@HogansApproach since i developed over the last few years a swing utilizing a good pivot i have found i need to golf wearing shoes with spikes because i'm using the ground more and i kinda slip wearing spikeless shoes.

    Nice thought process but cannot see your feet and the board.

    • @HogansApproach
      @HogansApproach 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I apologize for that in the intro. If you fast forward towards the last minute of the video you can see me hitting some shots using the board. I corrected the camera angle at that point. I personally struggle with losing spine angle and allowing my right hip to "spin" up and towards the golf ball. It's a mild case of early extension but it is not ideal at all for GRF (Ground Reaction Forces). I exaggerate the drill in this video feeling like my right heel stays planted, as you get better at this drill you can work into hitting normal shots and allow the right foot to come all the way up as you move into the finish position.

    John, I respect your views on the golf swing and all but your method seems that it would take years and years to learn. At the age of 51 I just don't have the time. Getting from the top of the swing down to the 4:30 position just seems impossible.Like you have to drop your arms straight down with a flat shaft behind you. I'm not sure how this is possible while swinging in full motion. Just seems like it would take years and years of training. I do enjoy watching your videos and listening to you talk though.I'm sure younger people with the time ahead of them can really benefit from your program.
