Great episode! Yes, that was supposed to be Frank & Bree looking at the painting. Buck was adopted into a MacKenzie family distant cousins of Dougal & Colum. Colum planned it. Yes, this was an intense episode and ran very close to the books (except they made the desk letter appearing simpler than in the books). If you think this was intense & full of emotions, wait 'til you see the Finale! There's a twist there that isn't in the books that's keeping (going to keep) everyone talking until Droughtlander is over! I really like the twist & anxiously awaiting how they will explain it in Season 8. Keep buckled up 'cause it's going to be a bumpy ride!

You definitely need a rewatch. I’d watch if you do. You’ve become my favorite Outlander reactor.

On Collum's death bed he told Claiire that Gellis wasn't burned until after the birth of her child who was given to William and Sarah McKenzie to raise that is why Buck did not know who his parents were. As we found out at the end of season 3, Gellis was not burned.

Notice the Title of the episode. That is the title of Book 8 !

I hope you are reading the books, or at least have them on your agenda. There is so much more that takes place in the story than what is shown on screen. The books are addicting!! Enjoy!!! So so many OMG moments ahead!! So many twists and turns, best hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Yes, I think it is supposed to be Frank and Brianna looking at that painting at the beginning :) I love that they brought that moment in there. Frank knew more than he let on. I hope they touch on that a bit more in S8!... ??? Buck was raised by another family. He knew he was adopted but never knew who his birth parents were. Haha! Intense, right?! Even though I did have an idea what would happen. Ep16 is the real mind-bender though!

Thank you for your reaction reviews! Love them! This episode was written by Diana Gabaldon Herself & it was a great episode for tying things together to flow onto the next episode. I loved how the tables were turned & Lord John is now in Jamie's shoes and vice-versa. Having to swear allegiance to a Country that you don't want to in order to keep from being hanged & having to wear irons. John got off easy since Jamie wore them for years! Jamie's right when he says, "Ye dinna get used to it". The Note on Bree's door was for the locksmith to change the locks. Richardson is undercover as a spy in more ways than one. He's also Callahan at the shootout at Lallybroch that Bree took off his mask. So, he's a Time Traveler, too!

The opening scene was with John & his brother Hal ( the Duke of Pardloe)-who Richardson is trying to get to encourage the argument to end the war, without giving in to the Continentals. Hal was the man who found the Jacobites who had survived Culloden & were hiding in the barn & allowed Jamie to go free.Ben is one of his sons ( Claire did surgery to save him). Hal& his children are a big part of the books, but would introduce too many new characters( when they wrote this season they thought it was the last one)- Starz waited to give the go ahead with season 8. They tried to get as much of the story as they could through the 9 currently published.There is a series of books with Lord John as the leading character written by the same author, much shorter than the main books that include the backstory of Jamie's time at Helwater. You'd enjoy them.

Hal (Lord John's brother) plays a much larger part of the books, I hate there isn't more of him in the show, he's one of my favorite characters.

William is " safe". He is not able to fight any more under the treaty that was made after they lost to the rebels after Saratoga.The agreement was that any involved in the battle on the Brits side were to be retuned to England, but the war goes on so the ships are doing more useful things like bringing supplies, etc. so those furloughed troops can run errands for the military but cannot carry weapons or fight .

They cannot go through the “portal” under the dam because what they see isn't really a portal, it is more like the reflection of the portal through the water. Regarding the Jerry-Roger plot, it is something predestined, the Roger we know could never have existed if Roger himself had not found and returned his father to the future. Jerry was only in the past for a couple of weeks (he traveled when Roger was just a baby), but when he returned, he did so a couple of years after he disappeared. When he arrived, he found everything bombed (including his house), he managed to find out that his wife and Roger were in a shelter in London and he went to look for them. Upon arrival, his wife had already died, then Jerry hugged his son and protected him from dying, although it cost him his own life. Roger didn't remember his dad at that age, so in reality he couldn't know that this man who hugged him and saved him at the shelter was his father.

I did miss Jennie in this episode, too! She was at Rachel & Iain's wedding in the books & she made Rachel's wedding dress. Also, a departure from the books was that it was a double Quaker wedding. Rachel & Iain and Denzel & Dottie Grey (Hal's daughter & Lord John's neice). Both Hal & Lord John were there, too, to witness the special event along with Fergus & Marsali. Fergus kept whispering about his own wedding to Marsali by asking if Iain has a cock? You can't get married without one you know! 🤣 Love this series & the books so much! Will be so sad when it's over, but we will still have Blood of My Blood to watch & another book coming out plus we can rewatch & reread to our hearts content! Happy Holidays to you!

Before all the time travels, Roger's father disseapered with his plane. Her mom died in the blitz. Roger saved himself by sending back his dad, and then the dad could save him from the blitz. But would unfortunately die with the mother

Another great episode... I'm interested in what Roger & Buck will do next cus remember they need to find gemstones to be able to go through the stones. If you would like to know what happened after Jerry went through the stones, then read the novella/short story “A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows” by Diana Gabaldon, it is from Jerry's Point of view, I loved it.

This episode was wild! I'm not a book reader myself and I also like being surprised.Poor LJG for getting Rogered in this episode though :(, I wish Jamie had the full story before jumping to conclusions as he does. I am also disappointed we didn't see Alexander Hamilton there by Washington's side- he would have been utterly pissed that some random called Jamie Fraser was made a general before him lolol! Interesting mention of hitting 'peaks' this week, with Sam (Jamie) reaching Everest Base Camp earlier this week!

The books ADD even more to the story.

The show is following the book pretty well with some story lines omitted. Although I know what should happen, I am still amazed by the way these actors tell the story. I audibly gasp at some scenes.

This episode was so close to the books! Fantastic! Practically every major line was from the books. I loved the Title Card showing the Apple tree in the Garden of Eden with the "apple not falling far from the tree" (Jamie & William-like father like son). Loved snarky Lord John, too! He was great! More like the Lord John in the books. William took the knowledge of his parentage pretty close to how Bree took the knowledge of her parentage. Both Frasers to the core. I know what's going to happen since I've read the books countless times, but it's really great to see the pages come to life! And since the books are so huge & the show doesn't have a lot of episodes or time, there are some storylines cut out, but they do a wonderful job of seaming it together in the time they've got to work with. If they added anything else into this episode (like Bree or Roger), it wouldn't have been as good. Most of the events in this episode were too important and needed to be able to breathe. They couldn't have crammed another thing in. Thanks for your reaction & review! Loved your commentary.
