How To: Patina a Carbon Steel Blade With Mustard
Grab the Condor Bushlore Mini on Amazon here: amzn.to/30QuauK
Have a high-carbon steel blade? Want to put a patina on it using something you already have in your fridge? Go grab some mustard and let's get to it!
Using mustard you can easily put a patina on your blade that not only looks cool but will provide a protective layer on your blade that will keep rust at bay.

    Dont stick your knife in a jar of mustard, be a normal human being. Sage advice

    Why don't you just use viniger? Can I use my finger instead of a q tip?

    Vinegar and salt is faster and better. Leave mustard for eating. Music in demo videos is a bad idea. Way too loud and competes with voice. It was very nice music but save it for beginning and end please. Intro was too long 2.5 mins in a 7 min video? Too long. Should be 15 secs. Music was very nice. Put some credits so we know what it was.

    Mustard is good for designs but for better and faster patina vinegar is best. Only my opinion.

      Vinegar is acidic, that and lemon juice are used to corrode the outter metal layer, while the mustard actually protects it from rust. All you're doing is acid etching the blade

    Pro tip: Leave the mustard on and enjoy the flavor...

    Correction, you actually can patina even a stainless blade with mustard and just know that less is more and the areas that turn darkest are the ones that don't have mustard the thick mustard actually acts like putting nail polish pattern on a blade would so go thin and you will get a nice even dark patina on carbon or stainless steel....

    isso ñ é patina coisa nenhuma pois a verdadeira pátina cinzenta cor de grafite só é criada com a ação do tempo de uso de uma faca, machado,facão etc. sei porque ja fiquei doido tentando escurecer meu machado novo de tudo q foi jeito

    Do you suppose vinegar would have the same result?

    • @honorablesteve6091
      @honorablesteve6091 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vinegar uses less time, and yet is more risky because if you leave it in the vinegar for too long it will ruin the blade.
