Epic Journey to the Most Beautiful Remote Beach
This is about an epic road and foot journey to see the most beautiful remote beach . It's located on the Isle of Harris but very much off the beaten track even for The Outer Hebrides On a sunny day the water is a stunning shade of light blues and turquoise. A tranquil paradise for those prepared to make the journey over a perilous mountain track.

Thank you! I came across this video on my research for my trip to the Outer Hebrides next year. Beautiful photography and cinematography, carried by the right choice of music, sound effects and subtle narration. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Let me check what else you have!
Thank you for your kind words, means a lot to me. You might like "Epic Journey To The Most Beautiful Remote Beach" which is on the Isle Of Harris just down the coast from this video and filmed just a few weeks ago. The beach is well worth a visit.
@@howslands Way ahead of you :-)
Took my wife and young weans a hike to that beach on a glorious but windy day back in 2010. I sat shivering on the beach as I'd come down with a bad cold but it still holds special memories. Your photos are amazing and it's been a joy to watch the wee video ❤
it's a pretty special place and its good to know that it was memorable for you even when you were not feeling so well. Thanks for your kind words Andrew.
definitely want to go to this beach - gorgeous photography Howell!
Thank you Leigh. I think you should definitely go as well
What a place and what an afternoon. Having watched this I am so sorry we interrupted your solitude, Howell! Beautiful footage put together in a really peaceful way. Thank you for sharing, love your work.
Thank you Jack. On the contrary it was good to meet fellow human beings and a pleasure to chat to you. You formed a great subject for my favourite picture that day.
Stunning camera work 👏👍
Thank You 😀
Thank you for sharing. Absolutely great work you’ve done on pictures and video. It’s brought back my memories of the greatest visit to the Outer Hebrides I’ve spent for a week, and it wasn’t long enough. Bonnie Scotland❤️🏴
Thank you. Just come back from Harris and the video of that comes out this week. Never enough time on the Islands though 😊
Absolutely wonderful, you visited my MacLeod ancestors homelands, they lived at Mealasta in the 18th Century, it was cleared in 1838. They were living in Brenish, and Crowlista at Uig Bay in the 19th Century.
Thanks for sharing Glen. What a great place to live 👍
Great work Howslands.
MPG any good on them?
I get 30mpg
Fellow D5 owner had mine for 5 years next month, mine is the G premium.
@@oukie666 nice one
Do you really recommend it then? I'm looking at getting one.
@@bodgespuds I love mine, just make sure you do your research, service history etc and make sure you get the model you actually want, ie there's lots of variations 2wd 4wd spec etc.
❤
I am so blessed to live on Lewis. It is such a breathtakingly beautiful place and your photography really captured that. Gorgeous! Come back in late autumn, winter and early spring when we have the equinoxial gales...80 - 90 mph winds, icy rain going sideways and huge seas crashing onto the rocks and beaches. That's when I love it most!
Ha, ha. Great comment. I will be back and yes I’d love to capture all that extra drama and beauty.
I lived there for 20 years...
you have a lovely home!
On a summer holiday in the Hebrides, I chose to pay for a ride with the postie in North Uist and Benbecula. One road that seemed to have no further destination in Benbecula - that was for me 'the back of beyond'.
Nice story and I bet it was stunningly beautiful having come back home through Uist
Good video - fellow d5 owner
Thank You Christian 👍
I am so grateful I learned to listen to my intuition, so clearly, that I moved here without knowing there were any beaches near me! And, there are so many gorgeous beaches in Uig, it is truly amazing to me this beauty. Thank you for sharing this. Home. Yay!!
Wow, what a great move and story. Also good to hear from a local on the island. Thank You.
Very well done conversion, and well done video! I drive a Delica L400 here in the States, and yours is quite a step up luxury!
Thank you Tom, I’m a fan of the L400 as well 👍
Brilliant mate
Thank you 😀👍
Thank you so much...I can't believe that I've never been to this part of the Island...I've been just about everywhere else of my dear home which I don't get back to often enough...beautiful photography 😁🌠
Thank You. I hope you get a chance to go there on your next visit. Lovely land and people.
@@howslands My daughter seems quite keen...perhaps for 2025!!
Any issues with the transmission on your trips
No issues at all, in fact (touch wood) no issues with anything since I've had it.
From the back of the front seats to the rear door how long is it?
It's 81 inches from the glass on the rear door to the passenger seat
1:13 so this is a Mitsa-boo-shee Delica D5 😅😂😂 Nice vid & build BTW
nice camper crooks those insurance co, thanks for sharing enjoy your trips.
Thanks Colin 👍
Amazing! Such views too. 😲
Thanks Phil
Loved the way you swung into action when you heard the whistle of that train!😂 Good job again Howell👍
Yes Colin, the train driver must have seen me faffing around 😂
We’re awaiting our import of a D5 from Japan. 👍
Hope you get it soon 👍
did it arrive? how is it?
Fabulous, the photo at the end is excellent.
Thank you Marcus
Wonderful, thanks
Thank You Mike 👍
I’ve got to admit that uri is a carpenter I wish I was but with having one to many bike mishaps I’ve got at times a horrendous both hands tremor but I can look on the bright side I could always change long wheelbase transit into a mobile chippie
Nice one Nelson. We’re all good at something 👍
Great looking D5 conversion. Good to hear that the IR panel is doing its job. I'm considering getting one for my D5, which i should take delivery of fairly soon. I like the look of the dark panel but most of them online seem to be white ones.
Thank you Ian. I spray painted mine. Search for black radiator spray paint on Amazon. I know they paint these as you can buy them with paintings or pictures on.
@@howslands Thanks Howell, good thinking
Beautiful photography and excellent drone shots. Very professional. A perfect choice of music and great commentary. If you make more like this, your channel can only grow and grow 👏 New subscriber 👍
Thank you for your kind words 👍. I will be making many more this year
@@howslands looking forward to it already 👍
Wow Howell you have certainly raised the bar over the years, this one was superb, your a club legend👍good luck to all the 2024 captains this year👍
Ha ha, not sure about that Colin but it was all happening in front of me, I didn't have to do anything 🤣
What a great conversion!! Thought of everything!! How do you find the insurance and running costs?
Thank you. A few people have asked me this and so my next video will cover this and some more insights into the gadgets I have inside.
Well done, Howell 😎
Thank you Phil 👍
Stumbled upon your channel, really enjoy your photography trips, hope there will be more of these videos in the future :)
Thank you and most definitely Oliver. I have some trips planned to Scotland and other UK destinations coming soon
Thank you so much Howell for recording the Captains Drive-In so well, this is a fantastic step forward and captures the spirit of The Shropshire GC perfectly.... Awesome job mate 👍
Thank you Chriz. It was a very enjoyable day.
Great Video Howell
Hello there, New subscriber here!! Nice and to the point videos good Sir! I'm interested in this car too, but I'm bit conservative with insurance etc. Could you please make a video covering the costs of running a car like this in the UK?
Certainly, I will do a segment on it in a future video.
How much does that car cost?
Depends where you are in the World I think. In the UK it cost £10k for a 2008 imported D5 2 years ago and I've probably spent 7k on the conversion, biggest cost being the power station and the solar panel.
That fit out looks pricey. Ive got the exact same van over here in Australia, and I'd love that rear fit out.. Well done, and thanks for the scenery footage as well..
The made to measure Walnut wood and the solar panel were the most expensive so, it did go a little over budget.
Hey great setup! Can you explain how you removed the seat anchors on the floor for the middle row? They’re really getting in the way of my design. Thanks!
Hi, can't remember having any specific problem with them. I recall I had a socket spanner on a ratchet wrench to remove the big bolts that anchor it to the floor. Let me know the specific problem that you're having and I'll see if I can remember.
what's the make of the panel heater and would you recomend? thanks
It's an infra red heater and I bought from a company called "Warm For Less" online. If your van is reasonably insulated and no bigger than the Delica then yes it will keep you warm in temperatures above about 3 or 4 degrees. See th-cam.com/video/nMXQBgI81Hc/w-d-xo.html if you haven't already see it.
@@howslands thanks! About to buy a 2008 delica and do a similar build thanks for heads up
@@AnotherBoring43yearold Great choice, good luck with the build. Let me know how you get on.
We're looking at a delica d5 but wonder what the situation is with getting spare parts ? Have you had to deal with sourcing and importing parts from Japan for the van yet?
I've had the Delica for just over 2 years now and had (touch wood) nothing go wrong with it at all. In that time I've done about 25k miles and its just coming up to about 100,00 on clock. It's had a couple of services and my garage uses - www.mitzybitz.com/ for all the parts. Some of the parts are common with other Mitsubishi models. You could enquire with them what's it like to source say a clutch or something for the particular model your thinking of buying.
@@howslands Thanks:) We're currently in the process of bringing one into the UK now. Should be with us in two months or so.
@@igorbogdanoff4517 Great news. I think you'll love it .
I have one too but in white. :) love the stealthiness!
Nice, it would be very stealthy in snow Jana
@@howslands yeah no chance of that here in Australia 🤭😆
You made a fantastic job of that
Thank you so much 😀
@@howslands what wattage is the ceramic heater have you used it yet in the cold weather
Yes, I've used it - covered in my latest video. it's a 140 watt infra red heater. @@lweleven3423
Fantastic...very interesting ...The North Wales coast line is amazing ...what a great day and weather ....wonderful video/photography ...feeling the 20 limit pain ....The D5 is looking great just perfect 😃👍👍
Wow, thanks for watching and your kind words Mark
As I found out the D5 doesn’t do 20mph with cruise control……
😂 I’ve not tried that yet but doesn’t surprise me
Man, D5 is really hot, so hot so hard to spot one in the market.
Yes, not seen another on the road since I bought it. You can always ask a garage to import one in for you (Worcester Road Motors)
Brilliant! I have a 2007 Delica D5 myself. Some really excellent ideas.
Thank you 👍. The only downside I can think of, if you convert your D5 like I did, which I didn't mention, is that it becomes a 2 seater of course.
love it!! i had one myself but only 2wd..
