This is gonna sound crazy but the price is not bad. We got used to $300 consoles, a standard that was set back in 1994 where a dollar then would be worth $2.12 today. If we want consoles to be what they used to be, a PC competitor for gaming, they need to become more expensive because of inflation. They have been trying to stay around that $400 price point these last few years, but you cant build a powerful machine for that price, even if you are Sony. Consoles needed and still need to get more expensive to match inflation so they can be packed with better hardware to weren't being a comparable gaming platform. Although that's not to say they need to sell all the parts individually. A disc drive would cost a consumer $10, Sony is getting them for cents, they dont need to make that a $70 add on, although I believe that is intentional to try and kill discs.

I had a blast playing FF7 with PS1 discs on the PS2. It was a lot of fun, especially compared to FF15, where I felt like I spent too much time waiting for characters to drive slowly. I've been enjoying Astrobot, but it's also left me hoping for new installments in some older game series. I can't help but wonder if we'll ever get a new Ape Escape game for example.

Still to this day, I have yet to play FF7 on PS1.

I do actually really like the idea of Melee in this game. It really helps the game separate myself from Dead Space with its core gameplay mechanic being pin point accuracy and putting yourself in the best position to deal the finishing blow with the only melee options being a stomp and just smacking the monsters with gun! So I really liked a big focus just wished they leaned into it more which is a common issue I have with game. It does a lot of good things with fun ideas but lean into enough like imagen if they gave you a chainsaw? Heck! You put a golf club in there I will be hoping on this game to turn it into the next for left 4 dead! Though I think they should have implemented more mechanics with varying weapons with different stats again like in L4D with the chainsaw only a short use and charge up time but its the strongest Melee weapon on the game. Not to mention the shove combines with the melee attack perfectly allowing you to push zombie back even when using gun but also set up the perfect melee SWISH!

I’m level 465, and this breaks the game . Way to easy with maxxed out ageus shield. I can beat the game in one sitting . I’d say 300 is perfect.

Played and loved it as a kid. Recently picked it up again, and yeah i still have a physical copy lol, its pretty amazing how good the combat still feels to this day. The new techniques you learn after every boss fight are actually fun to use yet detrimental at the same time in order to advance through the levels. Its definitely a well crafted game for its time, thats still a lot of fun with a rewarding learning curve today.

hey, you shoud play the fear and hunger series, it combines elements of dark souls, berserk, and silent hill. It is made in RPG maker, which might be a turnoff, but it is by far the BEST designed game made with RPG maker. It is an amazing game with a great story(especially the second game). It also has really really good atmosphere for a 2d game. The sound design in great. The lore is really interesting and it was only made by one guy named miro. The first game has better atmosphere and has more unique combat, but the second game has a better story and is a better game overall.

I mean... Last Faith is a LOT more old-school castlevania melded with bloodborne than it is Blasphemous. Just because religion is also a central theme doesnt mean its a rip-off, since the twist is that humanity was tricked into worshipping the worlds anti-Christ figure instead of a real Messiah.

Imagine creating things that already exist. That's literally how our mind works based on previous experience. I guess straying from the formula can create something unique, but including familiar things, or so called "nostalgia" is like paying tribute to the game that it was inspired by. Author gives far fetched arguments and too emotional about games using the same ideas. Nothing is original, it was already created before us.

Honestly, Indie Games aren't nearly as original as most people say they are.

I wouldn't include Nightmare of Decay in this kind of video because it seems like it was intentionally made to be a short "greatest hits" collection of other horror game moments and concepts melded into one campaign. It doesn't really have a story or any sort of world building of its own like the other examples you mentioned, so it can just be appreciated as a sort of buffet of horror game concepts.

You should try Lunacid, It was inspired by these kinds of games but it's really good.

Dark Reality always hits hard, i used it when playing as a Pure Deathblight no dmg clock-faced "Clock's Ticking" character in Elden Ring, using two rainbow stones for noise then ending with the Wraith Bell for a "Ding. Ding. DINNNGG." arrival and farewell killing sound to those that got blighted. That music is almost perfectly Death themed. Gotta love it's gentle yet haunting melody..
