Ethel and Albert: Mildred Paulson’s Galoshes - Written by Peg Lynch - The Kate Smith Hour 2/27/1952
As Albert’s heading out the door for an important business trip, Ethel reminds him to give her regards to Mildred. He may as well since he’ll be returning her galoshes when he changes trains in Chicago! Of course, Ethel provides Albert with very simple instructions for returning the overshoes. “Mildred will be at the cigar stand…”
And while you’re at it, Albert, will you take this jar of watermelon pickles to Mildred?

Peg had a great sense of satire and comedy. She could write for an empty radio studio and a live television audience and both kinds of sketches would be funny. When you talk about chemistry between two performers Peg and Alan had it. Poor Alan Bunce, profusely sweating under those 1952 Kleig studio lights of which many were required to allow the image orthicon tube cameras enough light to register a decent picture. Thanks for posting this.

(Your mom at 26:35 is absolutely gorgeous) I have always been partial to The Couple Next Door because that was where my experience with the show began. I was driving late at night many years ago and listening to some radio station that was playing the episodes where the Piper's are selling their house and building another. I truly fell in love with the show, Peg's lovely voice and all of the terrific acting. Little did I know that years later, after finding out that Peg Lynch was alive and well, I found her address and sent her flowers. Within a week my phone rang and there on my caller ID--"Peg Lynch"! What a lady. The first of a trio of calls she graciously made to my home. It's a love affair that continues to this day, including this absolutely wonderful series. I can't thank you enough.

@@peg_lynch_comedy have been enjoying a mp3 file of Couple next doors!! They really hold up. I'm playing some to the seniors in the park in Whitewater Wisconsin group . They loved the selling the house episodes!!
