Jonathan, get yourself back in shape in terms of your appearance. Your current look is really unattractive. The appearance you had in The Tudors or The Shadow Effect suits you well. According to many opinions, including mine, it will give your career a fresh start. Don't worry about what people write about who you were. What matters is learning from mistakes and moving forward. Best of luck, greetings from the Czech Republic.
I JUST LEARNED that the actress who plays Woodsy (Rachel House) voiced MOANA'S GRANDMOTHER!! (she is Maori) now I love her even more
microphone is casting a giant penis shadow on your chest. Very tasteful.
Next Saw trap should feature the Melon Baby from Garage Days 🍉🪤
Milwaukee mentioned!
Leigh Whannell is my all-time favourite director! I love the Insidious films, they're so creative and unique, and as someone who's watched tonnes of horror movies, they're some of the few movies that still creep me out even after multiple rewatches because he creates such a fantastic atmosphere in all his work. I'm so stoked to watch this episode. I grew up watching Leigh as the movie guy on Recovery, and he was a huge part of my entry into loving movies and particularly horror cinema with Saw and hiring those movies from my local video store was so life changing. Can't wait to dive into this. Great stuff!
I always remember Leigh from Recovery. I know it's obscure, but I have very strong memories of him as the movie guy on that show. It was really wonderful when I realised he'd been successful as a filmmaker after watching him as some random movie reviewer on Recovery.
Great episode! I didn't plan on going to see The Wolfman in the theatre, but after hearing your convo (especially the bits about atmosphere and sound design) i'm definitely going to. I'd love to get a recommendation from daddy: my new release is Anatomy of a Fall. For my other picks i'll take Indiana Jones and the last Crusade and Rebecca (the Hitchcock version)
Please have them on again!
Excellent episode with a couple of babes 😍
Im binging The Tudors for the probably 10th time. Hes absolutely mesmerizing in that role. I just had to look up what hes doing now. Im so happy hes doing well. And he looks great. His bday is 7.27.77. No wonder he's a lucky lad! Im surprised he didn't want to do 'Beckham'. That movie was so special and he was perfect for that role. Incidentally he could've been a college professor in another life. Hes highly intelligent and well read. When he gave interviews about Henry VIII you could tell that he has a natural intelligence.
Such a shame he adopted the American accent. Big shame. The tonight show 2007 is the real Jonathan.
That's not an American accent. Sounds like a lighter version of his Irish accent.
I just included Sean Harris in my list of Favourite Actors of the 21st Century! Sean Harris and Joel Edgerton are both really scary great actors.
This was great! I'm definitely going to watch Wake in Fright now.
Hey guys love the pod. I’ve only just found out about it a couple of months ago but I’ve pretty much smashed all the episodes already. I reckon Yazz from the Mugg Off pod would make a great guest BTW!! Could I get a recommendation?? My three movies are : new releases Strange Darlings(just watched it such a good movie but no one is talking about it!) weeklies: children of men & Sound of metal. Cheers
Seeing them actually speak is the strangest thing ever after watching their vids for years without it
I hate to be a broken record, but my favorite Australian movie of 2024 was Life After Fighting!
Jonathan is well spoken, it was so cool to see him be completely free with you in this video store interview. I've followed Jonathan's career for years and have always felt that whoever was Jon's "acting agents" were really not selling his niche for period drama's. Jonathan is well suited to period pieces, he has that way about him that comes across as regal. I would also enjoy seeing Jon in a sci-fi movie with Ridley Scott or anyone, for example he would've been perfect for Denis Villeneuve "Dune" I could see him as a powerful Duke Leto Atreides, far better then even Oscar Issac. Thank for this, he doesn't do a lot of interviews.
That's true. He has a very regal quality about him. He's so poised and has that beautiful accent
Still the best Elvis portrayal to this day for me
And the best Henry VIII
nice, great to see these two legends in full motion video! Great stuff
I KNEW Mason was a hand talker, I don’t know how I did but I knew it
Im so used to seeing the PNGs that this looked like its been ADR'd in post production haha
rocks this is our first episode back for the year
So delighted to see Jonathan.
So excited for this. Solider of cinema at his post
Your intro made me realy happy. Yes, p*rn pushes technology forward and I loved how you explained it.
3 times in a row What more can I say ❤❤❤❤❤
I also just watched Speed Racer for the first time because of Mark’s recommendation. What an amazing movie - I can’t believe I slept on it
Love James
This was such an amazing interview! I loved Daniel’s insights so much
Challengers would be by New release one too. Great story telling and characters and the music slaps. Trent was cooking hard on this film , felt like a call back on sega Dreamcast tennis games .
I'm surprised there wasn't a "Shin Diesel" pun.
I admire your pick of the week - I remember it vividly from the 80s with such quotes as "It's what we call meat back home", "This has been a very enjoyable fight" and "I don't want to die! I want to live forever! I want to live forever!" Place it on the shelf next to Nightbreed. PS With the title including eating an Ortolan, I thought it was a Star Wars film I hadn't yet seen where they eat Max Rebo from Return of the Jedi.
His performance in The Twelfth Man (2017) is top notch. Class act.
I love Oooh Spooky, such a funny podcast. Also a big fan of Paul Verhoven and love the satire in Starship Troopers and Robocop. It's such a clear influence on a lot of Japanese Splatter movies like Tokyo Gore Police (one of my favourites), even down to the fake ads. Another great episode and great picks!
have adored what you've given us with the show this year! looking forward to the future of the last video store my brotha. your way with words is delightful, and you are very hot if i do say so myself. my new release pick for the 20s would have to be DRIVE MY CAR picking up some favs too, gonna go with john woo's HARD BOILED on DVD, a new years tradition. along with that is a little gem from katsuhito ishii; THE TASTE OF TEA.
I love this show!
I like your moving hair!
Love mark and Aunty Donna and LOVE speed racer. Saw the title and clicked immediately. I got goosebumps when he got goosebumps talking about it. The final race is the most hype part of a movie ever. It’s so powerful and emotional and marks right he’s the best racer in the world!!! Ahhh! I love this movie so much! Thanks for talking about it!
Just watched Speed Racer because of this episode. Holy shit! What an absolute blast! Don't know why I had never seen it before but it was so much fun and looked amazing. Thanks for turning me on to it Mark and Alexi!
So pleasantly surprised to see that you guys talked about Sick of Myself. Loved that movie.
This was a great interview! I watched Memoir of a Snail last night and today I'm checking out a bunch of discussions with Adam Elliott. Y'all had one of the best for sure!
