Some rainy days in Louisiana but it never rains on the railroad. Customer asked for help with some CAN issues. I travel to Louisiana and help him find three bad coils and teach how to diagnose the faults.

Customer sends a translator to pick me up from the airport. We drive 4hours to Matias Romero for some training and completing the in service check list. I had a blast with these guys.
Ontario Northland gets a new brushcutter

I go to Ontario and put a brushcutter in service. It's a really nice machine. I was definitely surprised at how quiet it was. The guys working with us in the shop were absolutely great and helped with all the slight repairs and modifications. I hope you enjoy seeing this rather unique machine.

Sorry I haven't been posting in a while. In this video I travelled to Oregon, OH to repair a KKA 1050 that was trying to crawl on its own. I found the problem.

Question, Do you have to shut the machine down when moving the cable from valve to valve?
@@buzzman64 I normally do not. However if anything shorts out on either can hi or low you might have to cycle power to reset.

Yeah. We've seen it a bunch of times. But less recently at least.
48 year mechanic here. As soon as I saw the lights doing the funky chicken I figured it was a bad ground. Have chased a few of those around in my day. Bad grounds, yup, have spent lots of time looking for those. Love your channel by the way, interesting equipment. I spent most of my time logging so nice to see something different.
Glad you liked it. Hope to keep making more content similar to this but hopefully not too repetitive. I've run into bad grounds a few times too. If I'd seen the full 24v I would've known right away that it was a bad ground. But that 14 threw me.

Yeah sorry about that. I've been busy this year with mostly the same stuff or things that I'm not allowed to record. But I promise I'm trying to get more videos of these machines out there.

I've never understood why Canada and America use a track system like this, here in the UK we use concrete and even steel sleepers (ties) rail laying and maintenance is so much easier and more precise and the network as a result is safer.
I do understand. We do use cement ties in some places. There are a few reasons why they are better and a few as to why they are not always better. But the short answer is because there are way more tracks in the US than in Europe. So wood is just more cost effective.

All the years I watch the railroad fix the tracks and remove all wooden bat's it was exciting they came down my coredoor about 3" times over the yrs. Looking at theses tracks I see wood bars they do get wore out.

It's on a ballast regulator. Check some of my long videos and you'll get a good view of several.
So that's a cribber. Lol the tripp looking machine is used to push stone like a regulator and it has tie pusher and ballast pusher. I have ran that The other machine is a nipper clipper it knocks off pandrol clips and puts them on.
I used to work for conrail and now I work for another railroad in the philly area. I would like a KBR Manuel

I assume due to the location this would be the R8 gang. Used to work on it back in '07, the lineup has changed a bit since then. The grove crane would have been after the speedswings to thread the new rail in and had hydraulics for drilling and bolting the new joints (no Holland welder then). The hirail excavator and third spike puller with the bearsaw are new additions, used to have a gas K12 with a clamp. A railbound plugger is much nicer than the old Topkick box truck, used to be a 3 man job, with a driver pulled off whatever division gang was around. Was a good crew, miss some of those old heads. Great video!

Old mechanic here. I understand the machines when you are working on them. Just nuts and bolts so to speak. No railroads where I live so this is really interesting for me. Having a narrator explaining what is going on is awesome. More please.

No. That's the actual top speed of a KBR 925 in 6th gear.

И почему за столь долгий период вы не хотите электрифицировать железнодорожный транспорт? Хотя мне ответ понятен: весь бизнес сосредоточен в частных руках, и скорее всего у владельцев нет желания и средств для улучшения качества дорог! А зря!!!
Я благодарю вас за ваше мнение. Некоторая железнодорожная инфраструктура в Соединенных Штатах Америки слишком удалена, чтобы обеспечить электрифицированное передвижение. Особенно на грузовых транспортных линиях, подобных этой. Деревянные шпалы более рентабельны и необходимы в районах, где ежегодное техническое обслуживание невозможно. Поскольку территории намного больше, чем компании, у них есть возможность иметь достаточно сотрудников для выполнения этой работы. Если бы вы понимали размер нашей железнодорожной инфраструктуры, это имело бы больше смысла.

Я говорю о том, что большую часть своей взрослой жизни я проработал в железнодорожной отрасли. Вы тоже живете здесь, в Соединенных Штатах Америки? если бы вы жили здесь, то вы бы воочию увидели, что железнодорожная отрасль работает не так, как в других странах.
@@lumpar87 -Я с уважением отношусь к вашей профессии! Да! Вы правы. Отличие лишь в протяженности железнодорожного полотна. И частично в используемых материалах при строительстве железных дорог. Я родился в Советской Союзе. Там конечно протяжённость путей практически в два раза меньше. Но правда там вся сеть электрифицирована. Там зачастую использовались электрические локомотивы. Тепловозы больше как маневровый транспорт. И там были бетонные шпалы. Наверное просто потому, что вся инфраструктура железных дорог принадлежала государству! Потому всё делали на совесть!))) Как там сейчас я не могу утверждать, ибо давно там не был! Ещё раз успехов в вашей работе 👋!
There should be a private crew that travels the country and contracts this out for small private and excursion lines. Those wavy scary rails need alot of help.
There are. They're called surfacing gangs. That track wasn't finished yet.

That's pretty fancy with all the hydraulics on the boxes. Our Kershaw ballast regulator was all cables.
I've seen many of those before. I was always amazed they ever worked new. Much less 20 years later.
