It's such a delight to see you two admirable and adorable translators and friends together. The information about *how* you collaborated is super useful as I embark on a collaboration with the fabulous Amalia Gladheart! What strikes me always about Silvina, which is very clear in the segments you chose to read here, is her fabulous humor. Your translation(s) show us how much you both feel her humor and render it with dry precision. Imagine! I was here in North Carolina laughing along with you a carcajadas. I love how you left alfajores in Spanish. This was great. Bravo!

Lily, there is not need to apologize for the sound of your Spanish when you read and I truly do applaud your work and your courage in translating and promoting this author and presenting this selection. It is a generous offering that we make as translators, making ourselves vulnerable when we read or talk about our authors' work in our second (or third) language(s) and usually doing this work for little or nothing. What an interesting piece! I love the interesting mix of foods and the role of food in this fragment. "My whole life, trapped here with your unbearable silence." Uf.
