You should just write something completely off your normal creative vibe… write a metal album or something. Just hit the big switch just to flex the muscles. Remind yourself how damn good you are and write something crazy
@@jonpaulpisacreta7823 haha not a bad idea!

I have a lot of the same issue you address here and often it feels deeply isolating to the point where i genuinely feel like no one can relate, but your channel always serves as a reminder that no in fact im not alone in this struggle and yes you can still make art and be a full person and things do get better. Thank you for sharing, im looking forward to more updates

This gotta be my favourite video of yours ro. So much wisdom and just humanity in this video. It truly makes me so happy to see you doing well!! you're bringing more love and positivity to the world by bringing it to yourself and we need more and more people to take back that mental power over themselves and their lives, you really should be so proud of yourself 💜 Much love ro
thank you ari, it really means a lot! :')
Really, it's impossible to change everything in the moment, but it's very possible to change how we respond to the moment. Great video. Thanks for sharing. Radical acceptance can really help.

Absolutely terrible advice, because it skirts the many, many inherent difficulties that may be present that look like "not starting something". In terms of mental health difficulties, ADHD, for example, will literally put you in a situation where you *want* to go brush your teeth, have a shower, start a project, but you find yourself staring at a wall because you functionally and literally do not have enough dopamine in your brain to allow you to start to perform those actions. Anxiety, something that is *very* common among artists of all stripes, likewise can be a huge hurdle in starting something that you are passionate about. All of those things can look like you "don't have passion", but that assumption is false. In terms of non-mental health difficulties, there's a whole range of situations where passions can get stymied or tempered or delayed. None of that means that you "shouldn't do the thing" or that you "don't want to" do the thing. Hell, on top of those inherent difficulties in starting, sometimes people only gain passion for something after they've started it. I get that you're speaking for a perspective of - feeling like this worldview and perspective that you are espousing takes the pressure off, and I agree that that itself can be useful in specific contexts. But, there are absolutely situations where that worldview can be actively harmful, and - just in the first minute or so, there's absolutely no tempering of that perspective for situations where it doesn't apply. I don't think there's a straight connection between "Having done something" and "The amount you want to do it"/"The amount of passion you have for doing it", and I think it's incredibly easy an aspiring creatives who are nervous or scared or who have mental health difficulties, to see this video and take this advice and end up falling into a spiral of punishing themselves where they believe that they were never meant to create *any* pieces of art or be an artist or express themselves, simply because they've had difficulties starting, and end up with the belief that that's because they are "not passionate enough" about it. And... that would be sad, right?
@@aster_nova thank you for sharing your thoughts
I actually have to agree with you. While I'm not saying medication is for everyone or that people without medication can't push pass these barriers to be creative; personally I can say that when I was medicated this advice actually applies because I would actively pursue projects I was passionate about and be okay letting go of ideas that didn't hook me. However, I'm unfortunate enough not to be able to get my medication and I can feel and see a stark difference just because there is literally a deficiency in my brain's physical processes. I would say that this advice isn't unwelcome, but it should definitely come with some caveats and exceptions (like most things in life)
@@Soarin_Altiss i was speaking from my own experience and perspective, mostly related to having a job and making art and less about mental health. i have my fair share of mental health issues that have greatly affected my life which i talk about often. i understand where you guys are coming from but maybe this video just isnt for you - with that said i appreciate you both caring enough to share your thoughts
A lot of people think it's not worth the time because instant results don't happen. Others make art all the time and have no clue if success (financially) will happen, but that doesn't stop them. It's just something they do. Just make something small. Start with small steps. After you put a certain amount of effort in, then passion follows.
@@TheMidnightBandit i agree 100%!

Ive had somewhat of a theory for a while that 'waiting for inspiration' is also a form of waiting for permission. People worry about oversaturation and wanting something truly unique and inspiration is the theoretical green light to get their product out there. Theyre not allowed to make their content until the inspiration hits.

I don’t think I could agree with you more on your “music is magic” point. I don’t think most people truly understand what you’re getting at there, with the whole everything is a vibration thing. Music is a far more fundamental expression of self than talking or writing prose, and being in touch with that fundamental, truly authentic “self” should be the goal of any artist. Really respect what you’re getting at, keep being yourself man.
yes exactly! i didnt wanna go into that aspect too much in this vid lol maybe ill make another one tho

greetings from brazil, buddy! 🟢🟡 I couldn't relate more to the video. I've been returning to music producing right now and these last few months have been rough as hell, especially because I still haven't managed to be able to do the type of music I really like. Thank you very much for this video. It's good to know I'm not alone.

Love this. I'm currently finally getting out of my own way/out of my head after years of being paralyzed and I love this message. Gave you a sub <3

It is worth it when you step on stage, and everyone knows your single word for word. You have to put in lots of work to get there.

Thanks for this message. Making music is so difficult emotionally. It’s frustrating when it doesn’t sound as good as I want it to or I feel afraid to share it. It’s still worth it at the end of the day!
@@MrIplaybaseball yes exactly!
Well said, it definitely takes time, I’ve got over 25 years of having music as major part of my life, musician and enthusiast. Over time your experience and how you learn really becomes a part of you, and how you as an individual create. Good video dude!
@@DevourTheBleak thank u, glad u enjoyed!
Its amazing how different the process is when making music compared to creating other arts and creation.
@@kingcajonexperto8917 it really is!
I think it's because music has this certain intangible quality to it. You can put words to paper, see a painting, touch a sculpture, but music is only noticed when it's actively being produced and re-produced. Even then it's still unseen. You can't really visualize music the same way you can with other art forms.
@@apedestrian3899 great insight!
Yes. Agree. Simplify the thought process. Keep hold of your original authentic musical self. Create as an artist not $$ business. Self expression. You’ll feel so much better. Go back to your first self who created from the soul

I don't know how this popped up on my algorithm, but it couldn't be more relevant! Thanks man. Where can we listen to your music? I totally agree regarding about how working a different job for income gives you liberation over how you work on your music or art. This idea that being a full-time artist or musician gives you liberation is untrue on so many levels (more or less), unless you want a certain lifestyle that doesn't work with people who enjoy some solid level of stability.

This is so true man. Thanks for making this video it got me to loosen up my expectations of myself and why I think I need to meet them. What you said about relative and absolute reality is really interesting as it's important to have a level head and balanced approach to life. Overall very helpful and informative video, thanks!
@@creepcraddle thank u, glad u enjoyed!
Sorry you're feeling like this, but I think you did the biggest part which is by sharing a meaning conversation. expressing your feelings and being open about your need for connection can lead to deeper bonds, most people dont say a thing and can hurt in long run.
