I moved to Vancouver
After three weeks my road trip ended, and I decided to move to Vancouver without having any further plans what I will do there. I felt the urge to have a homebase and wanted to find a home for the rest of my remaining time in Canada.
When I arrived, it felt more like I moved to Dubai because Canada got hit by a recordbreaking heatwave and the first week was barely enjoyable because we had temperatures around 36°C. I already liked Vancouver when I was here in January, and everything was grey. Now in the summertime it is even greater, and I spend a lot of time at the numerous beaches.
I finally had the opportunity to meet with people and used it to do many daytrips. One was to go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. It is one of the major tourist attractions in north Vancouver and a nice park. In my opinion the entrance fee was quite high, but if you are not on a budget worth to check it out.
I was more than happy that I could send back some of my luggage. It is so much easier to travel and move if you don’t need to worry if your backpack will burst any minute. I used a company named polimex who send this huge package for 95$ to my address in Germany.

Roadtrip to Victoria
มุมมอง 3423 ปีที่แล้ว
The last stop on my roadtrip was the capital of British Columbia Victoria. But before I went there I spend three nights in Qualicum. Beach to explore the central and northern parts of Vancouver Island. I got many recommendations what to see and I tried to follow most of them. Popular spots like the Cathedral Grove where closed due to the pandemic but I visited the English Man Falls, Elk Falls, ...
My Roadtrip to Tofino
มุมมอง 4453 ปีที่แล้ว
It was time to explore the neighbor community Tofino and finally see some of the famous beaches of this area. The weather is often way colder than the rest of coastal BC but I also realized that it can change quickly and a rainy morning can turn out to be a very sunny beach. Anyway this area is so special that I enjoyed the nature no matter if it rained or not. The long beach is a must go. It i...
My roadtrip to Ucluelet
มุมมอง 2423 ปีที่แล้ว
I am happy to be happy again. I changed some things and tried to give my life in Canada another direction and it worked pretty well. I decided to start a road now that the restrictions eased in Canada. Having no job was the great chance to do whatever I wanted, so I ask myself what do I actually want. Turned out I wanted to live some time in a nice apartment with the possibility to cook healthy...
No Friends, No Perspective and Nothing to Look Forward to - the Downsides of Solo Traveling
มุมมอง 4793 ปีที่แล้ว
Today I cover a serious topic about loneliness while solo traveling. Sometimes it happens and it is a normal feeling. Usually, it doesn’t last long because meeting people while traveling happens naturally. However, the pandemic changed the rules for that, and I ended up in a situation where I somehow lost the joy in traveling. I found myself without a plan what to do next and craving for some s...
Completing my BUCKET LIST for GABRIOLA ISLAND ✅

    Not sure about BC or if it's just because you may be in a rural area, but in most places recycling is picked up at the curb bi-weekly; there's no need to take it anywhere, yourself

    We used to use imperial that’s why it’s used Get the right temperature before getting in 1 cup is 250ml not a random cup 😂😂

  • @jenniferh7296
    @jenniferh7296 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The cups in recipes are 250 ml. We have special cups called measuring cups. There are 2 kinds, dry measures for measuring flour and sugar and other dry ingredients, and the glass ones with a handle for wet ingredients. I was laughing when you were talking about how to use the shower. I had a similar experience trying to figure out a toilet in England. You often asked what the advantage is to these things but I think that is where your confusion is. We probably just don’t ow any better. I was interested to see what your system is for showers in Germany. We probably just don’t know any better and I find a lot of products here are not well thought put in terms of their design. I love a product with great design myself but perhaps due to smaller population in Canada so perhaps less competition between producers and a lot of space and resources compared to European countries, the designs in North America are rather lazy, ugly and inefficient. Your German products and culture are known to us in Canada as being thoughtful about quality, design, efficiency, and it shows when you are confused about what advantages our products have. Well they probably have some but overall I would say that is just not the mindset here, which I personally find frustrating. We have the systems we know and can afford as well I guess. That is all I can really say. Also with the tax, I think Canadians mostly know what is taxable and not so we do know what we will pay, but for anyone travelling from elsewhere it is understandably very confusing. Groceries are not taxable but single portions are. Most other things are taxable but that tax amount will depend what province you live in.

    Your appartement is expensive. My parents had an appartment in St joseph. 500 euro per month and has germans, as I live in Germany and my parents are open to europeans. But they are too old to do it now. Where did you go to your groceries? Go to the market. The vegetables and fruits are less expensive than in Germany, and I can see that each time I am coming back. You go to Saint Joesph market.... Where did you go? In vincendo there are no big supermarkets. Go to Leclerc in St Joseph. I guess you did your groceries in a kiosk. Kiosk or little markets are expensive just as in Germany. Wines are cheaper than in Germany for a better quality price ratio and the beer pack cost the same as in Rewe You should have talk to locals.... From someone who is from Saint Jospeh.... Bodycare is expensive or european goods. But locals goods are not that expensive, that's not true You have Tuna fish for less than 20 euro/kilo. It is more than 50 euro/kilo in Germany. So eat local eat cheaper

    Unfortunately the sales taxes are added after in both Canada and the U.S. It’s a real pain in the neck. Most of us would much rather have it pre added and the pay the sticker price.

  • @cheryla7480
    @cheryla7480 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    In Canadian homes we may use duvets or blankets or both we also use duvet covers. When it’s your own family you are not washing blankets very often as you have a sheet between you and the blanket. I’m sure hotels, motels etc. would be cleaning those blankets between clients, either washing or dry cleaning.

    All shower systems here can be quite different. Mine looks nothing like the one you showed in the video. My system is you turn on the hot and cold water and regulate it to the temperature you want ( the water is coming out of the faucet. . Then when ready you pull a little plunger on the top of the faucet, this switches the water flow from the faucet to the shower head, and as you have already regulated the temperature you don’t get any sudden cold or hot shocks. When finished you just push the plunger back down which switches the water back to the faucet and you just turn the water off at the taps

    Oh dear we can be very confusing regarding the Metric and the old Imperial system. Hopefully it will get better as ch are taught the metric system at school. Canada did not start using the metric system until the 1970’s. Speaking for myself I was already in my thirties. For many of us older Canadians we ended up using a bit of each. For example for the weather I relate more to Celsius, but for distances I think in miles, and feet and inches. For body weight I use ponds and ounces, but am also comfortable ordering deli foods in grams.

    The reason the shower knobs are like that in Canada is because those types of knobs are way cheaper than other types of knobs. Hotels started using those because they are a cheaper price and since hotels have sometimes hundreds of those installed in a building they wanted to save money. In the United States we also have those knobs which will create a moment of panic by not knowing how cold or hot the water will come out. So, I understand your frustration.

    You can buy the tap for your shower you like. The one you have from Germany is more expensive so the cheaper American one is used by default. Also to weights and sizes, too the weight it is an age thing, the size and measurements it is for American book that are used. It is cheaper to use American ones. I do not know pounds and onzes?. Sorry I do not know that word. The tax thing is because every province has different tax, some only have federal tax like in Alberta. The others have provincial tax and federal tax. I agree with you on the tax thing they should just do it like the other countries. I can from before the 80s when there was only provincial tax no federal.

    I agree about the tax things, its a problem and the reason is because there are no laws to force stores to include taxes to the prices that way people end up buying more then they would normally. It gets really bad for high value items, i showed up with 2000 dollars cash to buy this 2000 dollar matress but turns it with taxes it was 2250 dollars but then the seller didnt want me to leave his store with that much money so we spent 1 hour negociating prices: He offered another bed but i kept refusing and in the end his boss came in and said if i paid 2k cash he'd give me the matress taxe free and added 2 free pillows for my trouble so worked out in the end for me.

    all thick blanckets are alrealdy in a removable cover blancket. If you look at the end of it carefully, you will fine a tiny zipper and inside you'll be surprised to find the thick blanket is white. You have a thiner layer for the summer when its too hot to have thick blanket on.
