Can You Foil With A Knee Injury?
In this video I share why it's been so long since I've uploaded and show proof that foiling has almost no impact on my knees. Obviously the range of motion and tendons/ligaments have to be somewhat working, but the quads are what takes a majority of the force.
This is a video I have wanted to make for awhile, but this injury has kept me from doing what I love most and it's been hard to overcome the negative thoughts. Nonetheless, I'm just thankful that recovery is possible and that I can still make videos for you guys. The vibes are happy and I look forward to making more content soon!

    I have found the hardest part about dockstarting is finding a dock with a decent undercut to run an HA foil.

    • @FoilFanatic42
      @FoilFanatic42 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @AdamsHadEnough That really is one of the hardest parts since so many docks don't have enough room underneath. The dock in this video has deep dock floats, so the board has to be kinda low. One method I use on docks with no undercut or posts, is the jump start straight out. This does require a 1300cm^2 and up foil for me though.

    Hello Foil Fanatic, Could you give us the specs of your setup with the 1401? I've got the 1401 setup with the 750 Red mast, and just changed the stabilizer from a short Black to a Ultrashort- Black Advanced +, today. This change made a world of difference in launching and ease of pumping. I've got a 460 Stabilizer, and got some crazy high speed with a rapid pump, but wondering about going down in size to reduce drag. Age 59, weight 172 lbs. I Dock foil: Sabfoil Leviathan 1750 ( Super easy, slow turning, slow, little effort) F1 Jam 1900 ( Fast, easy, smooth , perfect setup right out of box, close challenge to 1401) Axis 1310 ( easy lots of front foot pressure, slow) Slingshot infinity 99 (too much energy required for my weight)

      Sounds like you have some nice setups! In this video my setup is the Dwarfcraft 100 Board, 75cm Alu mast, black ultrashort advanced+, 1401 front wing, and Skinny 50 rear wing. A skinny rear compared to the 460 will make a ton of difference! The drag will go way down, it will be easier to gain height on the mast, but your cadence will go up. Hope this helps!

      @@FoilFanatic42 currently spitfire 1180 and art pro 1201, which i can still start rather comfortably without running as long as there is a bit of drop. Dont want to keep so many wings and was looking at the 960 but cant take the leap of faith. I'd need to pump it for 1 min + in order to go grab some waves further out. If my heart explodes before that (74kg) then it wont do here :/

      @@FoilFanatic42 chatting with Yvon after his last video dropped th-cam.com/video/iG8t1Zp1zo4/w-d-xo.html -> basically small bumps/waves he took the 1401, big waves then down to the 960... quite impressive

      @arco2ch Nice! I haven't tried the 1201. Is it compatible to the 1180? For the 960, I think I can get close to a minute on a good day with less trash in the water for sure.

      @@FoilFanatic42 nope - art pro and spitfire feels very different . art pro i dont think is ideal for carving, although with small wingspan is doable. The spitfire rolls much nicer but are a tougher to pump for long, so you want them to play around (short roundtrips) or to reach a wave!

      @@FoilFanatic42 thanks! Something the 1180 has in common with the 1150, 1300 is an additional extra degree of angle upwards in the foil. The spitfires 1100 and below (and ART, HPS) don't have as much. I tried adding the +1 shim (comes in the bolt pack) to the rear wing on demo spitfire 1100 and it improved the low end significantly and made it possible to dead start. I have the 960 and great to see you get it going, I was about to give up on it..

      @powis-tv8ln Interesting on the angle similarities and differences between the setups. Is there a chart for this? I need to experiment with shims for this reason. Definitely keep trying with the 960, it's a fun wing!

      @@FoilFanatic42 yep the stall speed of the codes are insane. The 860r was like 100x easier than the spitfire 1030 for me to dockstart.

      @apricotscrub Man that's insane! I've seen that they are like crazy thin wings compared to the market standard. How's do they carve and pump compared to the Spitfire?

    • @apricotscrub
      @apricotscrub หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FoilFanatic42 the S wings are basically like the art axis but way easier to pump and better turning, the R is like +40% more distance per pump vs S, similar stall speed (860r has better stall than 980s), turns worse than s on waves. The smaller R still turn great as they are tiny wings. Personally there are no code wings I'm doing over 2 minutes on, every run is probably one minute for me, but distance covered is huge. I'm currently on the 1075, I use it both as a prone foil and dockstart. Get around a minute.

    • @RCKahuna150
      @RCKahuna150 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Question, does your dock there allow your foil tips to not hit the flotation underneath? I’ve not been able to find a local dock that doesn’t have concrete floats underwater even with the edge of the dock 🤦‍♂️

    • @FoilFanatic42
      @FoilFanatic42 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @RCKahuna150 So for this dock it's super nice because it's just a floating plastic dock that sits a couple inches in the water. The con is that it's really low. The dock at the lake I use has dock supports that sit decently deep underwater so the foil has to be pretty low, but since it's a high dock I can use gravity to assist the launch. Where do you foil?
