Creating videos as we sail!
We’re Aaron and Allie, and our boat cat Eloise! We’re from Port Townsend Washington and have been fixing and sailing our 1979 Rawson 30’ since 2013. We do all the boat work ourselves and have put all our love, blood, sweat, and tears into our little floating home for the past 10 years. We look up to our sailing heroes Lin and Larry Pardey, and Captain Fatty and Caroline Goodlander. Two couples who spent their lives on the sea, exploring the world, and made careers of telling their stories. After learning to sail, refitting our boat Spy, and cruising the Pacific Northwest, we sailed down the coast to Mexico. Join us as we chase the horizon and share our story. Thanks for watching!

It was a breathtaking place to experience, and we did our best to capture it on film. Hope you enjoy our nature documentary.

Just discovered your channel; watched your first episode and your most recent. Wow!
A beautiful video! Beautifully filmed, masterfully narrated! Watching it was like stepping back in time, to an era when the telling of the story was as important as the filmography and the visuals. Like Madison Boatworks, you have achieved something special! We sail an Ingrid 38 in the Pacific North West, and your experience is certainly inspiring. Thank you! Edit: I should have checked your channel before writing the comment. Regardless, even if this wasn't your first video, everything I said still stands.
Nooooo! Losing footage is the worst! Horrible!
Oh the list of challenges makes dry storage prep in the desert sound painful.
Amosan is great for clearing up mouth sores. (thanks for the reminder to add it to my boat first aid kit)
I can feel the relaxed contentment of the desert sunset in this video and your storytelling. Reminds me of days camping and climbing in Vantage, WA. Can't wait to bring my boat out of the soggy PNW and dry out in the sun. . .
From this video on, your videography and storytelling is awesome. I'm living the dream of sailing the Sea of Cortez with your videos. Thank you for making them.
Big improvement!
Did you get the drama you were after?
That trick of hooking up the auto tiller to the monitor wind vane is brilliant. I'm stealing that.😊
Chances of getting all the possible marinas down the coast or others to get out of the storm
Curious what is your boat. Been thinking of taking off in my 29 foot Cal. Your inspiring! Thank you
Great vídeos! What month of the year ? I am planing tô sail in Baja. Thank you.
⛵Lovely Sloop / Great Video⛵
Sick waves.
Love it guys! Great shots! We finally got around to uploading ours lol
Missed you guys !!!
Just like National Geographic Very interesting narrative and the video quality is great. Your kitty seems well acclimated to boat life. Damn fine video guys, well done. Thanks for the share 😊
I remember Cabrales shipyard when they built shrimp boats like a factory, dozens of them at a time. They had dozens of stray dogs as pets.
I have been on the beach North of Puerto Libertad with a strong wind coming from the west. It pushed the water up to the beach, the swells so high I was looking up at them. Fantastic!
Glad to see you back. It's been too long.
Glad to be back! Sorry for the wait! We had to take a break for work up here in the PNW. Thanks so much for the support, and thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing! Are you guys ever heading to the Atlantic side?
Thanks so much for watching! We definitely dream of sailing over to the Atlantic side someday, but don’t have any plans at the moment.
Loved the naturalist vibe to this one 😎
Thanks! We had a lot of fun making this one😊
It had been so long, I thought you ran it up on the beach and got day jobs.
Your intuition was spot on😂We had to go home and work. Thanks for following along!
Great vid guys! I know it takes a lot of effort and patience to get good wildlife shots. Beautiful. Good work. Looking forward to more.
Thank you for noticing! We really enjoy putting in the extra effort to capture and witness the wildlife. Thanks for following along!
Astounding videography guys. I am glad you found some moments when my blah, blah blah was not running 😂. Such a great time, hope do some more exploring with you.
Hey Tim! We had such a great time with you out there, and a lot of fun making this one! We will have to make you a blooper reel😂Can’t wait to meet up with you again this coming season! Thank you for your friendship, support, and thanks so much for watching!
Was there 52 years ago Cousteau did a documentary on the island
Yeah! It’s a great documentary!
You've been MIA for a long time good to see you again!!
Glad to be back! Thanks for following along!

Thank you!
Can't wait for the next vid!
Us too!
Loving your video and we have only watched 37 seconds... Dale & Connie
Ha😂 Yes, that's a hot 37 seconds.. Thanks for noticing!
So inspiring.
Thank you!🤗
You got my respect when I saw you made a proper rice with that fish.
Thanks for noticing!😂
why not wait it out in the safe harbor you were already in? why chance it?
We had to move because the winds were coming from the north and that anchorage was completely exposed to the north. We knew the wind was coming but it built up faster than we anticipated. Thanks for watching!
Awesome. Congratulations!
Thank you! It’s one of our proudest achievements of our sailing career so far!
I hope you are well, we will see you again soon, This time you have been gone for a really long time, I wish you all the best Best regards

Beautifully done. That was storytelling and film making at its best. Thanks! Subscribed.
Where'd you guys go ?
We’re back! Sorry for the long silence! We had to take a break for work up here in the PNW😊
Glad to just now come across you video to see another perspective of the gales off Cape Mendocino! Looks like your employed some great strategies to help keep things safe and as comfortable as possible given the conditions. We shared some similar experiences during our respective passages to SF, but a year apart! We had 3 days straight of 30-45 kts about 150 miles off of southern Oregon until we were within 70 miles of Drakes Bay, at which point things finally eased off. When we left Neah Bay, the forecast models showed we should experiences some 30 kt gusts on our approach to SF/Drakes Bay, but things changed. A LOT! Instead of the usual Mendocino gale staying within its typical 100 mile radius off the cape, it expanded out to 300 miles. There was nothing we could do but ride it out. If you're still in the Gulf of California come this fall, give us a holla. We're hauled out in San Carlos until November. Cheers, Trevor & Kat
Damn were on that island and never found that area beautiful
Love the way you capture the simple essence of life afloat in one of the most amazing places on earth. Not everyone understands the sea of cortez. It's not for everyone. You two have represented well. Thankyou.
Love your footage and that you both narrated it. Nice music. We loved Ramada.
Thank you so much! Beautiful spot!
Great video footage of the waves. What time of year we're you there? Well done on that hike.. really hard. Getting down .. must be just as challenging 😅
Thanks, they are so difficult to capture! 🌊 It was the end of October beginning of November.
Great video and congrats on this milestone! How far offshore were you off Cape Mendocino? You said 120 miles?
Thanks!! We were 120 off when the blow started, and 170 off by the end. The forecast looked like the gale would stay near the shore, but that was clearly inaccurate…
One of your best videos!
Thank you!!!
