I mean cool, i have respect for you. But its more of a safty thing. Like it doesnt matter if your 95lbs or 250lbs of pure muscle, go hiking with others so that when something inevitably goes wrong, your chances of survival are automatically much higher

As a solo hiker, you can be safe. Go to places with high volume traffic, i.e. popular trails. Make sure family, friends, and Rangers know you are in the area alone. Be aware of your ability level and be willing to turn around if it becomes too much. Last but not least, know that even if you do hike with a group, it is ultimately your level of knowledge and the resources you brought that will get you out of trouble. I've seen groups of hikers with simple water bottles, no hats or layered clothing, no day packs, and relying on cellphones to get them out of trouble.

@@madeleinewilsonphoto i mean, yeah, totally, and I intend to hike solo myself once in the position to do so, I just meant to specify why people generally say not to. Cause eventually something will go wrong and a lot of hiking hobbyists die that way, usually hiking solo. That said plenty of safety measures exist to make it safer, like tracking devices and such, but they aren't perfect and there are plenty of cases where no amount of tracking and bare spray will save you

Definitely true. I always overpacked water and on a particularly nasty trail recently, I got lost. When I got back on it everyone in my group had already left so I had to follow the markers alone. That water not only kept me hydrated, it kept me sane.

I like that Emily validated someone who’s outdoorsy and just does shorter hikes. I used to do really long difficult trails for over a half decade, but in the last year I started doing much shorter less difficult ones mostly, and I kinda felt ashamed tbh. But I’m getting older and I have chronic pain. I can’t throw myself up and 9 miles of vertical boulders anymore 😂

I can't believe I've been hiking around the state of MN and around the U.S. all these years, and I never understood the damage of going off trail. I was just at Bryce Canyon last week, and used a person-made trail to go up a boulder. I've also before taken a non-trail path shortcut on a switchback. You talked about the switchback shortcuts on a recent TikTok. And you went deeper here into why it's important we stick to the trails being managed by the park officials. Thank you for your content and education! You've changed the behaviors of a one hiker here. :) Also, great and impactful words about where we are, following last week's election. Thank you for putting yourself out there and speaking up. To help me move forward, I'm using my privilege to be even more focused on philanthropy and volunteerism than I've already been. I've already been a person actively dedicated to supporting work against injustices and work for marginalized communities. The votes of so many in this country just crushed me, but then motivated me. I'll work that much harder. Anyway, I again thank you for using your privilege and platform!

@madeleinewilsonphoto I have been a Democrat for 52 years. My Party has left me. They no longer represent me. And obviously, this was true of many people. Why is that? What has caused this disconnect? Anger. I have watched my Party Leadership squander what we have fought for all my adult life...and now...I will die knowing we will never regain what has been lost even in my 15 yr old daughter's lifetime let alone what will be lost. We can't fix a broken system using that broken system. But solutions exist. No one wants to listen. They have drank too much Kool-aid. Know what causes fear? Lack of faith. I am not trying to be an ass. Really I am not. I just want those from my ex-Party to understand...we caused this. This is on us. This is not on them ( Republicans). Until this is accepted...nothing will change. Now comes the real battle. We can't save this as what was. We can't repair it. We need new achievable goals. Work to allow States to leave the Union...so we can form new Countries...with new Constitutions. Ones that protects the Rights we lost. Cause we will never get them back here...using the existing system. Or....you can live the rest of your life in fear. Filled with anxiety. Question. Is that really life? We shouldn't be forced to live in fear...or anxiety. We can save...what can be saved. When you have a plan...you take fear....anxiety...and use it as motivation. Be strong. You are not alone.

If you needed a small dog even a terrier like a scottish terrier or wired hair terrier or rat terrier. The one you got is no different than a Chihuahua or a shih Tzu, better go invest in a doggy/baby stroller.
