    Thank you for the video, I am a 43 yr old white male with no medical conditions. I was recently released from the neurology icu after 9 days. I had covid encephalitis. No respiratory issues what so ever. I had 5 seizures they know of, delirium, hallucinations and could not feed myself had no control of my bowels they did MRI, CT scans, spinal taps could not find anything but covid. I had to be restrained the MRI did not come out the best because I was having convulsions. I still have a lot of symptoms after 30 days brain fog ect and the only answer I get is we don't know. I started to have some clarity after 5 days of convulsions seizures ect. They don't believe I had a silent stroke. I have a follow up with the neurologist next week. It is a phone visit because most hospitals are not taking in patients. Should I request another MRI with contrast because of the symptoms im still having ? Im tired of hearing we don't know. I have terrible headaches near my right temple. Terrible sleep patterns, foggyness, memory issues ect. I had to go back to work but I'm so fatigued I can't make it through the whole day. I have issues communicating i know what i want to say but cant get the words out or i and slow to get the words out. Any advice what to ask the neurologist ? If you responded I would be very grateful

      Hi John, if there are concerns about structural damage to the brain, yes - a structural neuroimaging test like CT or MRI is important to have conclusive results of. For your issues with cognitive function (issues communicating, memory loss etc) VoxNeuro's Cognitive Health Assessments™ measure the health of your core cognitive functions to provide your healthcare team with data to inform cognitive rehabilitation. Was hoping to hear more about COVID effects on those who already had sustained brain injury before COVID diagnosis. Any research on that aspect?!

    • @BrainInjuryCanada
      @BrainInjuryCanada 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As COVID is so new, we don't have access to much research on the effects of COVID on those who had a previous brain injury. As research becomes available (peer-reviewed and published), we will be looking into that topic more thoroughly.

    My partner best friend got a brain injury just over two years ago. He is 79 which makes it very hard to get help. I believe because of his age that the government doesn't want to do more for him. If I had enough energy at the end of the day I would be fighting. Mentally he is about 85% there. He can talk two languages and is even starting to learn Spanish. When he is sick or very tired is when he has a hard time. Physically he has improved a lot. He can't walk and needs help getting into and out of bed and wheelchair. I can leave him for an hour or two when he is up. when he is in bed longer. His kids took off within a couple of months of him coming home so I am the only one taking care of him. I have people coming in when I am at work. When he left the hospital we had someone coming to help get the house ready but we never had information on resources to let us know what we are covered for or any help we can be getting even now.. It is tough and more should be done for the care giver.

I'm so proud of you for succeeding the way you have! I also have a daughter with a brain injury (from birth), and have witnessed her struggles over the years. She too is AMAZING, just like you!! Bless you and your family <3

      Carol, I did not see this until now which is terrible of me. I appreciate the kind words. Wow, how ironic, you photographing my parents wedding. It is a constant struggle when you have a injury in which no one can see or understand unless gone through it. Which sounds like your daughter is experiencing. It must be so challenging as a parent to see your child struggling everyday. I wish you and your daughter well.
