First off Humaniod robots look like humans because their intention is to replace nearly all labor in the world. Robots will allow for non profitable jobs to be done. For example picking up trash on a beach offer zero profit for any company, thus humanoid robots will do this. The BD grippers are a cheap way to avoid doing years of R&D and one day take someone else's design and work. Their basic gripper only needs to pass for industrial work. BD only does the videos to get more investors and funding to do research. They offer nearly no retail products at all. Their spot robot failed and failed bad. While they did sell some units, its not enough to make them any money. They also hold a lot of control for the robot anyways. They should sell the damn thing with rich people pet in mind and would have done good as a few thousand dollar product. The future of humanoid robots will be very fast and there will be major push back from a lot of people. There will likely be a lot of people getting arrested and lot of rebels out there. Yet they will come fast with version one. With in a year version 2 will be ready and so one every year after that. While version one robots will still be of great use the better versions will be the best. The stories will come out of factories bringing in thousands of robots to replace humans and laying them off with huge severance packages and workers taking advantage to become human watchers of these robots. Entire industries will be born out of thin air. People making products from waste that would have never be done before. Construction will drastically change. In area where stone is widely available people will build buildings of stone in which special mason would have charged so much for labor a crew of robots would come in and do it in a day for next to nothing. Sooner or later things will have to change to reflect the small amount of jobs out there and robot will be tasked with caring for humans. I calculated that the world needs around 100 billion fully functional humanoid robots to care for this world and everyone in it. With this many robots we can fix any of the world's problems and keep them clean. We can monitor every animal in the world and cull those that exceed what we need. We can then devote the correct resources to building facilities that last thousands of years and made with the best of the best material rather than the cheapest. For example using the best stainless steel for rebar would make concrete structures last far longer. Making every appliance the most energy efficent and monitoring it for the slightest problems all while making sure its made with the best materials and will last the longest. Stuff can be made to last a very long time and we should do that. We throw away so much. In order to get to this point we need to invest every dollar we have in to these tech and get them to produce something. Full automation and AI are going to be major players in the future.

is it just me or is Zuck look younger now than he did when he started fb lol. also, their openness about the products capabilities, too me, sounds like a lot of confidence that they will unseat chatgpt, which its kind of about time, chats been way to stagnant these past few years, and while gpt4 is pretty good, it still leaves A LOT to be desired. Very little conversation retention, is likely to contradict itself in 2 subsequent prompts, can't find answers to some VERY simple things that can be found in a quick google search, and just a lot of misunderstanding english and intent.
