One thing that is often overlooked in games is the ambience. The sounds and atmosphere of a place that give it life and identity of its own. Without them the locations we travel through would seem empty and the entire experience would be all that much worse for it.
This channel aims to celebrate the ambience that is so often missed and how it can make a game that much more special.

Volcano Manor || Elden Ring Ambience

I never thought I'd have to climb inside a volcano on this journey but here I am. I don't know whether the village was here before the volcano erupted or if it was built in the calera deliberately. Whatever the case, Rykards blasphamy has only made it worse and lead to the entire place being consumed by lava.

Even with the dragons and the war, this place is always so peaceful. The dawn is so fresh and the people so greeting. I'd love to stay longer but I have to move on before midday.

The core is a wreck, it's already so unstable that it's burned through it's containment. The Stalkers are trying their best to contain it but it's not working. Alyx thinks we have a chance to, at least for a while, but I'm not too sure. The radiation is so high that I don't think even the HEV suit can stand it. I need to figure of how to reactivate what containment's left but I have to be quick...

This is the Commonwealth. So much conflict, so much chaos but out here, on a day like this, you can see what it all is; a crumbled civilization scrambling for scraps. I need to head back soon but for now I'm just glad to be away from it all, even if for a while.

There's no reason anyone would want to come here. Sure there's probably supplies that could last a settlement months and unplundered pre-war tech the Brotherhood wants but I'm not sure even they would want to risk it. Everything wants to kill me and radiation storms are constant. Once I get what I need I'm gone but first I need to wait for these Ghouls to clear out...

I have a question. Where these combine soldiers and mechanichs were going? I knew they not found teleportation in the world yet. So they must be gathered in a one point? Do you agree?
I'd say there were travelling to another staging ground, maybe another city. I'm pretty sure each of the numbered Combine cities have a mini citadel of their own, it's just City 17 was the captial with a bigger one.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic has some incredible ambient places! Especially when inside the huge canyons

I get behind why People might not like this Chapter, but personally I really enjoyed the Chapter and find it to be One of My Favourite Ones if not My most Favourite Chapter. It's incredibly Eerie in the Inbetween-Times where no Combat is occurring, even more so than other Chapters like Power Up or Lambda Core in My Opinion. And even the Combat Encounters are quite Cool and Challenging even if a bit Annoying or even Frustrating in Bursts, especially if Your Health and/or Ammo is Low.
It's definately one of the weaker areas in the game but considering the high bar the rest of the game sets, it's actually not that bad

Taken out by the resistance maybe? Seems like there were a shitton of Combine units overrun by Rebels and their own headcrab shells on the way there, it'd be understandable if they got destroyed early on
Maybe the Combine thought the ones they had left were too valuable to risk sending after Freeman.

I loved that scene in half life 2. this franchise has impeccable story telling. Seeing the last few powers of combine cross this bridge, both showing their desperation and destruction but also giving another kind of glimpse into how fast they managed to handle this situation. trying their best to control city 17 and getting their last troups out of there, now striding losely organised but still structured along this path. its an impressive sight and still holds up today.

Thanks! The work comes in finding the right locations and figuring out console commands. Luckily Half-Life and all source adjacent games are pretty standard and easy to use.

In one moment, they lost everything - their homes, families, and even their faith in a normal life. The most terrifying thing is probably that this situation is not very far from our real world - it started with an innocent flu and ended with the massacre in Haran. Politics, governments, and unbridled profit - it sounds like the real world. This game simply has a great atmosphere - the main character is not exaggerated and even he is afraid of the nighttime. He is terrified, he hyperventilates, and fights for every second of life. I won't write more, but to sum up, this game has a leading theme and a clear purpose for the player - save the city and retrieve the file for GRE, which the second part did not have. This is a game that each of us can identify with to some extent, like it was with COVID. And the saddest thing is how this city ended and how everything we did went to waste.

Nice ambience sound, overall the game has a nice ambience sounds. As for the Xen factory, I like that Vortigaunts they are neutral, this proves that they don't really want to hurt us, that they are only slaves, that they are controlled those bracelets and so they must kill us, it is all, have a nice day.
When I llayed Black Mesa, I purposedly went directly to attack only the controllers before realizing they manipulate them into attacking you
