      Hardwood mulch on top of the cardboard works great in suppressing the unwanted weed or grass. Just need to maintain the edges.

    It’s ok to take a pollinator from a pumpkin male flower and apply it to a cucumber female flower?

    • @GCGV
      @GCGV 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @susanasante9006 Pumpkins like cucumbers have separate male and female flowers on the same growing plant. Pollen from the male flower's stamen must be transferred to the female. There are different ways to do this. We try to minimize disturbances so we use brush or cotton swabs if there are no bees and such that visit.

    So why can’t you use the cardboard with print and pictures on it ?

    • @GCGV
      @GCGV ปีที่แล้ว

      Using cardboard with color and print for sheet mulching can be done, following are the reasons we chose not to use them - Cardboard with color and print often contains inks and dyes that may be laden with chemicals that can potentially leach into the soil and affect the plants. The purpose of using cardboard in sheet mulching is to smother weeds and break down over time, providing organic matter to the soil. Cardboard with color and print may have a coating or finish that slows down decomposition. This can interfere with the natural breakdown process and may not be as effective in suppressing weeds or the grass lawn.

      Hi Kelly, The grass is Bermuda. Installed by the builder. I would say we have about 95 percent success rate. There are areas where we have had to do double lasagna layering of sheet mulch, compost and hardwood mulch. We've accepted that this will be an on going process long term. We definitely are enjoying the results. Please subscribe and like if you haven't. Working on more related episodes. Tell us about your planned projects.
