I’ve seen the other vídeo, o wing chun vs mma, and i think the same, wing chun is not for this, if the bald guy, hit you stronger, would be a ko, i practice wing chun , but if i had to fight, i prefer to fight, not chain punches,
Well, it is a nice training, but unuseful, in my opinion, wing chun is not useful in this time of situations, the mma guy, has total advantage, but like i said, is good for cardio, nothing else
Das sind lügner ich fordere jeden wing tzungler heraus.
For ground figths in wing chun i suggest looking into dog style boxing/dishuquan, its got an oddly similar origin story to wing chun and fujian white crane buts the style is mostly focused on ground game and how to utilize inferior position and defend urself when on ur back. Also while doing judo as a kid and Getting grounded for using sticky hands in judo I've found a liking to having stand up wrestling matches where i can utilize chi sao to frame my opponent into a throw, sweep or stand up choke. Grappling is an essential part of wing chun and a big advantage wc got over other arts is the simultaneous grappling and striking where both ends up blending into one (using obliques to cause instability while framing is low key grappling in a way since the goal of the kick at that moment is to manipulate my opponent body and not to hurt my opponent) that mindset really helped my grappling and striking especially with how u can manage range with push and pulls and easily cause instability by punching someone in the face while were wrestling 😂
Tu lo haces con el porque no sabe boxear tienes que hacerlo con un boxeador de verdad
El chisao contra un boxeador no funciona
I didn't see any pro MMA on display here.
“Don’t worry about getting hit when you close in unless it’s a knockout”? How can you guarantee that charging in the way you’re showing WONT RESULT in a knockout. I’m also a wing chun instructor and your strategy is dangerously flawed, I hope you’re not teaching people this for self protection. No wonder our art gets mocked. Trading to get close to an opponent is not a viable strategy, there are many safer ways to apply the art…
Please have more respect for grapplers and wong shun leung
Its a good job the other guy nos nothing about boxing
Aloha from Hawaii 😉 🤙 I been involved in Wing Chun over 40 yrs & I do this at home & hit the heavy bag for 15-20 minutes at UFC Gym once a week. Plan on stepping it up soon to 2-3 times per week. Wing Chun is a excellent fighting system as long as people practice the basic techniques and condition their hands.
I would have my guard a bit higher and I’d also spar. Going up against boxers in WT is great practice
NICE practice. :)
Chase the opponent with flexible, aggressive stance work that cuts off his circling making him back pedal. Chasing him with hand attacks allows him to have room to work.
Why don't you also make a video on your trick and upload it on youtube ?
Wing chun uses controlling the arm bridge to apply kicks. Very difficult to block.
Pursue the adversary with stances not with punches. A unified body structure with mobile stances that cut off the fighting area and make the adversary back pedal. Finally, strike only when there is a secured hold and control of the enemy’s arm bridges and stance structure. Creating a structural break down is preferable.
CHIN DOWN.
It is very important to spar. Very good. Hope to join your class soon. Regards
I get what Gracie’s say, but ground fighting in the streets is ridiculous. Hence the dangers you mentioned. Great video Sifu.
I say this respectfully but this takedown defence is rubbish. Wing-Chun was designed for a sudden violent encounter, not combat sports. Although a single or double leg takedown can be effective(1v1 I'd even say it's often more effective than striking) it's not the best strategy for self defense, due to multiple reasons. Don't make up your own defense and act like it's in the system. If someone goes for a double leg takedown you either sprawl or at least you remove the front leg. Just stepping back is not enough. Preffereably when you sprawl you control the back of their head with a Pak Sau esque action and you actually palm strike the back of your own hand. This might seem a bit weird, but try it out. This defense comes from the Wong Shun Leung/ Barry Lee lineage, taught to me by Bill Dowding in a seminar.
First off I respect what you are trying to do and I am all for it. However here comes the harsh criticisms, in the spirit of trying to help you improve in your Idea. 1) You make the same mistakes as many Martial Artists did in 1993 after the first UFC. For the past 30 years people have been working on takedown defence, and it is still the sprawl (for a reason). You will waste too much time trying to make a technique work rather than just using a technique that works (proven countless times) . 2) There were no actual takedown attempts done on this day, no realistic shoot attempts done either. If you are to go up against a trained wrestler, Judoka, or BJJ you'll be in for big surprise and not in a good way. You very well may want connection to your opponent but so do they. They will have superior understanding of what to do as they not do anything else. The fact you train strikes means your time is divided, Theirs is not. I suggest you ask an actual wrestler/MMA/No Gi trained person to help you. Then you can see why you idea won't work and where you need to make changes for it to work. 3) If you are thinking that someone one street with no knowledge of these takedowns would attempt them again that is wrong as they will just grab you and try to man handle you to the ground. If you are doing this for street self defence then stick with maintaining distance so you can strike. 3) Saying that you'll use strikes to the throat and neck mean nothing if you have no experience on actually doing these strikes and seeing their reaction. You cannot rely on students and class mates that share your opinion. If you are skilled enough to hurt, then you need to be skilled enough to not hurt as well. The Wing Chun fighters of HK and Shanghai go to Muay Thai, MMA and Sanda gyms to train their full contact, not for techniques but for learning their timing against people who punch in a different way (no one who isn't specifically trained will use chain punches right?). These Wing Chun guys and girls use the sprawl to defend single and double leg takedowns. Their instructors encourage it as then they do not get taken down and can can use certain strikes from that position as well. I would say that you aren't training to beat noobies and thugs, but to defeat trained and skill opponents. Speak to an MMA coach (we aren't as bad many traditional artists think) I am sure they'd help you in a respectful manner. As I said I support what you are doing, and I think you should keep going. But you need help to do this properly, so you know your techniques work on everyone and not just your students and classmates. Peace brother and keep up the good work. (I hope I convey my thoughts respectfully, no insult is meant. As a long term Hung Gar Keun trainer I sincerely wish you the best in this) Liked and Subbed.
Peace brother - some good comments here
@@londonwt I made some of these comments before I saw your other videos, In which you are doing some of the things I said. Our systems are sister styles and share many similar principles and techniques. These were the "modern styles" back in the day and it is right for them to modernize them again. I use some of my Chin Na from BJJs closed and open guard. And Yes escaping mount is a big deal. I'd add escaping side control to the list as it is also a common position that people get stuck in when they go the floor.
Please take a look at the sandhagen fight from last night and ask yourself if you think your striking approach (‘illegal’ strikes or not) would have any chance. I feel like I’m these kinds of tutorials it would be best to be honest. This is our approach and we hope to never have to deal with a trained mma fighter.
Agreed Sir - as discussed in the video this would not necessarily prevent a committed takedown, especially against a pro...
Have you tried these techniques against an mma opponent in a sparring session? the timing, power and force would very different... Once they contact your legs there's not much hope. I like your stuff though. Keep the videos coming!
Do you see the fatal flaws of Wing Chun? The face and neck not protected by the guard stance The floating face is an invitation to a KO. Chin should be tucked in and protected. Sparring partner very compliance.
The takedown in this video is too slow and incorrect. There is no power at all😅 I’m a wing tsun guy and have tried taking a double leg takedown in sparring. There‘s not much hope when he contacts my body and legs (he is much heavier than me btw). A true double leg takedown is not just grabbing the leg but crashing into the body.
Indeed Sir - yes it is very different training with a pro fighter!
I thought that CLOSED DOOR Student meant last student according to GGM Leung Ting ?

Dude, it looks nice, but in reality use somebody to see if its effective , once you apply this in a real situation it will go right out the window, the streets are really dangerous to be clowning around with fancy moves that don't work!!

Beautifully done 😅Sifu ❤
😅
I think more effective if use lead kick and stopping opponent coming in (stop kick) and the counters when opponent tries to jab, jab cross and bridge the gap off of that is where can get the chain punch to work. But you are taller would want to use reach
Pro MMA fighter? I don't think so.
WING CHUN vs MMA in Germany th-cam.com/video/8jfTue7tWCE/w-d-xo.html
Nice 👍
Nice sparring but don't keep your chin to high it can be very dangerous and painful
It’s good to see you trying this . I’ve crossed trained MA all my life ( WC / Boxing / kick-boxing/ BJJ ) Do you see in the clip how when you bridge your head is up and exposed ( no head movement plus low guard ) ? A long time ago I was a student during the “ wing chun wars “ in the EU My then teacher ( a formidable WC fighter ) accepted a challenge match with a kick-boxer ( this is all on record ) and was KO’d by a right cross due to exactly the same lack of head movement and effective guard / defence . Based on hundreds of rounds of sparring this plus lack of mobility is the great weakness in the WC style . If we think of it a dirty boxing / clinch fighting it’s far more effecting .
some good points and kudos to your teacher
WING CHUN vs MMA in Germany th-cam.com/video/8jfTue7tWCE/w-d-xo.html
Very interesting. It's nice to see someone putting some pressure to their WC training. Do you feel that the height of your stance leaves you exposed to overhand shots? I noticed in the first round your partner landed a couple, and a kick that followed the same line landed in the second round. Personally I ditched the more classical WC stance in my training for essentially a slightly modified Boxing stance for that very reason.
good points, which is why timing/distance management are important, along with making the first strike count instead of pulling it as here...
LOL,absolutely fake sparring. Anyone who has practiced any serious contact sport for at least 6 months beats up any wing chung sifu, that's the reality.
lol bro - you could probably get away with a lot less for some, you might need a little more for others...
please bro i am in croatia island of brac village splitska bring some contact sporters i chalenge them 5 to 1
@JosePerez Try that with Tu Tengyao and see how it goes. Tu Tengyao is willing to accept any challenge from any of your cohorts

I think he does a good job at explaining how Wing Chun is more of a self defense system than combat sports and highlights the pros and cons of the system.
You did well. I would say 2 thinks. 1. Chin down!! 2. Don't start with Chain punches going forward! Instead bridge the gap and/or use footwork to change angles. Maybe a 3rd one: in close grapling range use hook punch/upper cuts too. It's in Cham kiu
thanks, indeed they are
Good foreward pressure. However try to disrupt your opponents balance or enter in at an angle, this wil lessen the chance of getting countered.
thanks and yes: no close distance work in this video...
So this's how you force your opponent to play the wing chun game.
go
He what vid software do you use ?
these (sensible)bong sau, tan sau techniques will allow you to kome by very near to opponent. If you apply them with more force you will bounce off and the opponent will be able to attack again. So very good, thank you for upload.
Great wt, like it's ment to be.
love this series, very clear.
