T238 Storm Airsoft Tracer Unit Review
T238 reached out to see if I wanted to do a review of any of their newer products.
I mentioned I had interest in their smaller tracer units which I prefer for indoor gameplay such as CQB environments and for use on SMG’s/PDW’s and Pistols. So they sent me one of their newer tracer units called the Storm tracer unit for review.
T238 also has a Nano tracer unit which is even smaller than the Storm but has a smaller battery and slightly less features.
In any case, the compact tracer unit offerings from T238 are very competitive in pricing. At the time of writing the price of the T238 storm was $53.68 USD and the T238 Nano $38.76 USD which will be hard for the competitors to beat.

Recently Airtech studios sent me over a bunch of parts to check out. The battery extension unit is one they offer but I actually picked it up a while ago when I first got my ICS PDW9, so I thought that I may as well throw in a review of it too! The Battery Extension Unit (BEU) for the ICS PDW9 is a great add on option to connect a larger battery for longer game play. You do lose some stock adju...

Good sized tracer for pistols but it doesn't come with pistol thread adaptor?
@@BorelessAirsoft yes sir in my opinion it Should! I will mention it to them. The T238 Nano comes with one though. Probably a small added cost. The price is still really good.
How does it hold up compared in brightness to the most common acetech brighter C

😎😎@@T238-u6m
@@matthewstrangwood8463unfortunately I do not have an acetech to compare too but the brightness of the muzzle flash is impressive. I'll be shooting more in field this winter and checking it out against some of my friends that have acetech. I can post back in the next month or so.
I love the l86a2, anyone who does would want to buy this
@@Bicky606 haha yeah man it's a great rifle
Is there a option for a longer barrel??
Aftermarket upgrade is an option. The Supressor will let you run a longer inner barrel without needing to extend the outter barrel.
The launcher though 😈😈
@@BorelessAirsoft 😏
Time to upgrade to a Monk Adapter
@@KRSAirsoft so far nothing wrong with this one so sounds like a lateral move? Everyone has a preference.

How is the motor holding up. I just bought it to upgrade my stock Arcturus m4
@@cronospulse actually holding up great still using it after probably 40k + rounds. I actually just talked To T238 about motors and they sent me a new brushless version (25000 rpm slightly lower) of this motor for me to check out haha. So I'll be swapping it out soon but not because It is failing only because I want to put the brushless to the test 😂.
My idea is that it will inprove my trigger response i dont mind rate of fire that much. Compared with stock it will probably be beter considering better magnets @@DucknDiveAirsoft
@@cronospulse yeah 100% better than stock motor. Its a high torque motor do should do you justice where your looking.

I love you so much for making this 2 mins only.
Haha thanks sweet and simple. The complete build video was fun now its micro add ons so quite easy to make a short clean video on something common.
Oh the joys of Airsoft last week I was running my rifle in CQB for the last time before she gets dmr'd and I fucked my muzzle and tracer as I fell on a broken old grenade and smacked it straight off the wall next to me haha 😅 safe to say was disheartened but now more aware of my kit etc whilst playing

Where did you order the barrel
@@bilat04bitabi17 it's been a while so I may have it wrong but I want to say I got it from Amped airsoft or Evike.
That’s perdy
How much did you guys pay and do they provide guns too?
Usually between 30 to 43 for field fee, depending on the game, and then they do have rentals available for extra cost.
The BV206 is an awesome vehicle. You’re so lucky ride in one.
Haha yeah it was a fun part of the game. They had two going that game.
Hey, what was the inner barrel length ? I’ve got a 118mm and wondering if that’s too long for a tracer ?
The stock barrel is 112 mm for the TM hicapa 5.1 (assuming your talking the 5.1!). It sits just inside the outter barrel. There is still a little bit more room to accommodate the 6mm difference your talking (118 vs 112) and with a 118 mm it would probably be pretty much flush to the outside face of the outter barrel at that point. Most tracers sensors won't sit that far back, but if the barrel were to protrude too far into the tracer your right it would not detect the bbs because the sensor would be blocked by the inner barrel. Usually barrels can stick past the outter barrel and still work with a tracer but that is highly dependent on the tracer design and by how much it sticks past. My best guess is you should be alright. If you already have the barrel just trial and error it or test it out.
Yes! Great gear video! Exfog for the win.
@@anticijasper3345 haha thanks! Agreed exfog Is the only way
bro i gotta ask how do u like that piston? i was going to get it to save money instead of buying the angel kratos, let me know if u recommend it
Honestly for the cost it's hard to beat the shs piston. If you epoxy the rack in the durability has been good for me. I am also using a different shs piston in my L86 lmg build running FA all the time. After 2 years and probably +100,000 rounds its still going strong.
Great video! Can’t believe it doesn’t have more views. I owned this replica too last year. It overall felt great, but I’m personally quite disappointed by the slow semi ROF and trigger response even with precock set on the S3 ETU.
Thanks! Yeah a full build with a custom mosfet and trigger can get far better, but for a stock gun it's not terrible. I havnt really played with any settings in the ETU yet.
@@DucknDiveAirsoft How do you find the trigger response to be? It's been a while since I played with it. Maybe the trigger is spammable if pulled in the right way.
@NeilDjents it's not bad really but the overtravel kills the experience of a short hair trigger. Needs an adjustment screw for overtravel ideally.
Can I use silicone grease to clean o rings and such? I want to avoid 100% silicone oil In gear box
@@banksblast3095 for cylinder head probably not an issue either way. For the piston and nozzle you need lighter viscosity. Grease likley is to heavy and may not function well. Oil is a medium weight and only a tad should be used. An alternative that may work (don't quote me) could be TechT Gun Sav. I've never used it for an AEG but it is a bit lighter weight of a silicone grease. Not sure if it would impeded the piston or nozzle function (if it's too thick).
Did the windshield take some bad hits?
@@BorelessAirsoft it took all the hits Hahaha. Don't think any damage was done. Truck is meant to get hit lol.
Hey, do you know if it's possible to change the camera cable in order to make it even longer? I want to hide the main body in the battery pouch
@@mikelondres3874 I'm not sure what you mean by hide the main body in the battery pouch but you can change the cable to any length you want.
My trigger wobbles. When i opened the unit. There was no TRIGGER PIN installed on it😢
Uh oh haha. That's not good!
I was there like 3 or 2 years ago and going here this year for my birthday
@@LandonLinker-ql5vp awesome have fun! 😁 👌
is it compatable with polarsar f2 engine? and what other mags can you use with this gun?
I understand it to be compatible with AN F2 since it's a V2 gearbox but you'd need to consider the wiring due to split gearbox design (the ETU wires to the engine selenoids so may be tricky to open the gun) and also the nozzle length is not a standard M4 nozzle but I believe polarstar has options for ICS nozzle lengths. Mags are a bit annoying in that they are proprietary so ICS PDW9 mags are the best option. Honestly their PDW9 mags are quite nice. They also have a 9mm adaptor for the ICS drum mag. I've heard some people have succeeded getting other similar 9mm mags work but with modifications. The main issue is the mag catch system is different on the PDW9. I've only tried ARP9 mags and they don't work as is (I did not attempt any modifications).
@@DucknDiveAirsoft Thanks for the quick reply! I'm gathering info because I just bought it without any research. Yeah, the mag compatibility is bad, and the ICS PDW9 mags are nice but quite expensive in Europe. Regarding the PolarStar nozzle compatibility, I found a few options on their website: 1. ICS MP5 A/SD length - 1.205 2. ICS SIG 550/551/552 length - 1.3435. Which one should I go for? I have a Maxx M4 hop-up unit lying around and I hoped I could use that with the PolarStar F2. Will it be compatible with the PolarStar ICS nozzle, or do I need a different PolarStar nozzle? Should I even change the hop-up unit, or is the stock one good enough?
@kamikadze_official id hit up polarstar either on their Facebook or email to confirm the nozzle variant. They should reply quick. I'd just leave it as the stock hop. In my opinion, the stock ICS hop is fine! Even with a short barrel I have no problem hopping 0.32g bbs 50m to 60m . I've had nothing but trouble trying to change hops on guns. It's hit or miss at best. If you did go Maxx there are specific ones marketed for ICS and then also ones specificly marketed for polarstar engines (I'm not sure if there is a polarstar + ICS version lol). I also don't really know what would be different between the various models of hops that Maxx has. I havnt dug deep into it so I'm not confident what would work best.
@@DucknDiveAirsoft Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely reach out to Polarstar for confirmation on the nozzle variant. I'll stick with the stock ICS hop-up for now since it seems to be working well with. I agree, changing hop-ups can be hit or miss. If I decide to go for a Maxx hop-up, I'll make sure to do thorough research to find the right one for my setup. Appreciate the insights!

Hey man sick video as always!
Thanks man! ☺️
BOOM .... hit 😔
So i tried this, my muscle memory accidentally set the hammer prime while i disassembled it any idea how to fix it???
I'm not sure I understand what went wrong but I think you have it disassembled and the hammer is locked back keeping the rear saftey down too? If thats the issue then you should be able to gently put something like a small screwdriver up at the rear of the grip (parallel to it to) to reset the hammer forward just gently wiggle the screw driver around. The hammer spring and its housing should be out first of course. Be careful not to jam the sear spring as you don't want to bend the sear at all. Don't force it.
Can you rig it so one hose cools down your neck for hot summer games too?
Lol I'm sure all things are possible but that would put less air to your eyes.
@@DucknDiveAirsoft Agreed. Great unboxing review!! 😁😁
Is HPA the same thing as Co2? Pls see this comment😢
Definitely not the same. HPA is high pressure atmosphere (air). Co2 is well Co2!
@@DucknDiveAirsoft tysm
@@DucknDiveAirsoft was that pistol a hpa?
I have a co2 and I’m looking everywhere online can u help me find good price for under $200?
Your looking for an HPA setup?
I got one of these and I found that it is super heavy and sometimes slows my gun down, should I just get an aluminum one?
The outter barrel is aluminum and doesn't move so it shouldn't slow down the cycle. Is it catching or not fitting well?
@@DucknDiveAirsoft I got the airsoft masterpiece steel outer barrel and stock Mauri spring could it be to spring?
@@Greensofter if you have the stock slide I wouldn't use a stiffer spring because it can crack the stock TM slide. An aftermarket aluminum slide can handle a stronger spring which could potentially help it cycle better but it depends why it started not cycling well in the first place. The actusl outer barrel itself shouldn't effect your cycle unless it's not fit well.
@@DucknDiveAirsoft alright I will order a new recoil spring, what will be the best one. For short stroke
