Who ever wrote this must have experience on the job. They nailed it like only a dispatcher could. I dispatched for the Providence Police department for 7 years before I quit. Im probably the only one in history that quit a city job in this state. I couldn't handle not knowing the outcome. My last call was a mother from Boston crying her eyes out cuz her daughter was missing. She had come down to RI to go clubing and never made it home and the mother just saw on the news a girls body was found behind a club in Prov and desperately wanted to know if that was her daughter. I guess to detectives I transferred the call too didn't give her a straight answer so she kept calling back.after 5 calls listening to this lady cry and beg for answers. And me having none plus my daughter was just recently born. That call real messed up my head and i still don't know if it was her daughter. Not knowing the outcome to half the calls that come across ur desk really starts to mess with u. Constant nightmares. And you slowly stop trusting the world because you see your first hand out evil it can be. Great job on capturing what? It's truly like to be a dispatcher.
I am a 44 year old who has decided to train to be an emergency medical dispatcher. I'm currently in class this week, and this was the first time I ever heard about the pizza order or using code words. I am going into it with a very open mind and heart, knowing from all of my own unbelievable life experiences that I know I can help others with tremendous compassion, empathy and hard work. I'm extremely hard on myself, so I know I'll be constantly pushing myself to be the best I can be, but I am certainly not diluted into believing it will be something it isn't. Easy. But, the work and helping others... it's behind the scenes and in eyes, so admirable. If I pass my courses, I pray I can be worthy of that title. This video.. wow.
My brother was a 911 dispatcher and he was so good at it too. I know I never would’ve been able to do that. My brother died on the job. He did so much and wanted to do more in his short life he was a volunteer firefighter, on rescue squad, and became a dispatcher. All he wanted to do was help people and I know he would’ve loved this.❤️
Brilliant work.
Wish you would do more productions! This was fantastic!
And people want to defund the police 😭 Jesus help us all!
DUDE 911 OPERATOR COPPIED THE EXACT WORDS AND EVERYTHING FROM THIS
I heard this voice record in TH-cam at around 2008 already. However I cannot find it back. Anyone knows where we can find it back? The female voice in this video is too too calm compared with actual. The voice in actual is way way more affirmative.
I trust dispatch with my life Of course some of them are idiots that a have gotten people killed and injured hell one of them got me shot but it’s remarkable what they do for us and the public
What happened all I heard was a voice of like getting punched in the stomach and line went dead
The most scary part for me is my humanity. Even the smallest mistake or oversight in human error can cause someone their life.
IN FILM THE OPERATOR & OFFICER IN CHARJE ARE REAL PROFI - YE EXELENT ROLE PLAYIN - I LIKE VERY MUCH THANK YOU - WANT TO WATCH ONE MORE TIME -
I’m currently 13 years old, and I got inspired to be 911 operator to help people and get people to safety, so when I’m older, I’m gonna be a 911 dispatcher, even though it will be a bit scary to listen. 😊
That's amazing Chloe!!
As a firefighter y’all are our lifeline!
What happened after the officer arrived he said police get on the ground you called the police and after that all I heard was ugh and then beeeeeeeep
This video just confirmed what I always knew....I was made for this and I can be that calm voice for someone who needs help. I was created for this line of work and I'm looking forward to many years of helping people.
Great film good job 👍👍
Great film !
When that phone goes off the hook during that call that's when they really lose all composure.
They shouldn't have allowed him to be interviewed because he was not experienced enough to explain the procedure of the calls. He still needed to learn some things.
wow watch this amazing shortfilm of operator th-cam.com/video/fge5pSlmsdM/w-d-xo.html
Thank you very very much for your posting if this video,it has truly opened my eyes, and given me a deeper appreciation for dispatche're and all of those who serve so many in our greatest times of need, thank you very much!
They are truly heroes

Wow this is awesome something you don't think about.
Wow this is awesome something you don't think about.
Nicely done!
Thanks man! Glad you liked it!
This deserves more views.
Judging by the videos of actual 911 calls I've been watching lately, there are a lot of 911 dispatchers who would benefit from this video. A lot of them have forgotten that they are someones lifeline and it's not just a job. For the rest of them who are compassionate and competent, thank you for all you do. I know some calls stay with you and haunt you. Thank you for your sacrifice and commitment.
I love my dispatchers, but when they are rude or mean to me over the radio it just bums me out... When I go to a hot call, they might be the last voice I ever hear. Sometimes they seem annoyed they have to check on us and that infuriates me....
This was really well made! I came into this completely blind and just looking for an accurate representation of what it's like to be a 911 Emergency Dispatcher. This did the trick. Edge of my seat!
What a masterpiece
This is a nice film. The problem is, his acting is too good! Edit: Like... really good!! Not in a bad way
Good story
Just here to give credit where credit is due. It originated on reddit by u/Crux1836 here: www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/257agn/911_operators_what_is_that_1_call_that_you_could/chej079/
This was very well done. Nice job.
This was spectacular. Not what I expected. Well done.
Wow. This will really help me to understand what people want from Food Delivery calls. I'm Playing in Roblox Ultimate Driving Role Play as a Dispatcher. This will really help me understand what happens as a Dispatcher. Thanks, very nice story.
So much respect for them all
Excellent film!
Testing for this job in about an hour. Just got out of the army so I can handle high stress situations. This video made me realize what I’m getting in to. I hope I never get a call like although I will at some point. I just hope I can take care of the person on the other end.
why the male/female dynamic? cliche
His teeth are brighter than my future
Wow, couldn’t be more accurate. It really hits home when the magnitude of the domestic or any high priority call comes in, then once that’s done you’ve got to be ready for the next. I’m thankful to be a police dispatcher it is very rewarding, but can take a toll sometimes.
Wasen't that pizza domestic call also used in 911 operator?
Beautifully done! Absolutely outstanding!
I love this video a lot. I'm not a dispatcher but I do work at a crisis hotline and I recall a lot of these same emotions. You absolutely get used to it, but you'll never know what you get. Especially hearing noises in the background, answering phone calls to screams, and having to not only keep the caller on the line while also telling dispatch every detail you can squeeze out of someone in crisis. Shoutout to everyone who has ever been in this line of work. You're all amazing.
I've been dispatching for 8 years now and this video is amazing. It is technically a dramatization but this is as real as it gets. Thank you for putiting this together.
I take my test in July for this job & I'm praying I get it, thanks for this video!!!
Absolutely awesome work, Caleb!
