Front and Rear Sprocket Change on WR250R

12T for the front, 44T for the rear. Equivalent to a 48T in the rear with a 13T in the front. I did this as an experiment and so I didn't have to change the chain. Also, I started using a new Gopro Hero 7 Black and I messed up the aspect ratio so I apologize for the small screen.

Sunday Ride on the WR - Random Thoughts

Quick ride before the rain came in again and my SD card filled up. I adjusted the suspension again because it was too soft before and felt like a pogo stick. Now the settings are back to standard setting and feel better on woops, smoother trails, and on the road, but, the settings are too harsh for rocky trails. Because there is such a mixture of different terrain, I think setting the suspensio...

    Just got a new-to-me WR. Dropped it a couple times and when attempting to pick it up I thought.... Jeeez, this thing is heavy. I had been hearing how light the bike was. When trying to pick it up, it doesn't feel so light. In fact, I struggled. I'm a fairly big guy and had the same question you apparently had. Exactly how much weight am I picking up? Also, if the bike falls and it is as a slight incline... like on an uphill ride, it is even heavier. I searched You Tube to see if I could find someone who had the same question and a solution on how to pick these things up. If you know anyone who has a good vid on HOW to pick these up, reply in comment. By the way, Great Video.

    Here’s how you can easily gain 6+ inches for free without a lowering link. 1. The suspension under your own body weight should drop 2 inches. 2. You can install a lowered seat or shave down the existing seat and drop the seat height up to 3 inches. 3. Wearing mx/enduro shoes will also give you 1+ inches of extra height. It’s important to note that I would never advise riding any bike without setting up the suspension sag for your body weight properly, because without proper suspension sag your suspension will barely work, which could result in getting yeeted off your bike.

  • @newkickztv
    @newkickztv 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    From what I could see, I think your suspension is way too stiff for your body weight. Your suspension sag should be at least a good 2 inches. You dropped the height maybe 1 inch when sitting on it.

    Iam glad I saw this video I want a wr 250 r, but iam almost 5 5 & inseam 30 inches and 130 pounds. Iam use to riding 125 mx & yz 2 strokes, but wanted a dual sport and did not want xt or tw 250 to be my only choice. I noticed people cry if they can not touch their feet flat these days on the ground from their bike & that is selling point of xt 250 ?? Dumb, as touching your feet flat is not necessary. When I rode my 125s & I needed to touch the ground it was with my toes but WR looks taller then mx or yz 125s. But not all 4 strokes are created equal & the suspension on xt or tw 250 doesn't look heavy duty like WR 250 r. Thank you for sharing as height does not matter its confidence & skill which you have plenty of great demonstration.😊

    Went with 13 46 Mox rear. The gearing is lower than what I expected but it works very well on back roads. The Mox is nice to have, no more harshness. Next time I will probaby try a 45 rear so I can still go on the motorway.

    Why no performance mods?! Because it runs so damn good stock! But if a few more hp is what your looking for then it will get there easily with a few mods. Setting up the suspension for YOU and your riding is most important then a bigger rear sprocket & some good tires for your riding style

  • @zone47
    @zone47 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm 5'6" and lowered the stock setup and then put in a 1.5" lowering link and scooted the forks up about 1" as well. That helped a lot. I see this video is 5 years old, so I'm probably typing this for nothing. Ok then ....

  • @zone47
    @zone47 ปีที่แล้ว

    Roller skates will give you another 3" per foot, so that might help. Just kidding of course. I put a 1.5" lowering link in the rear, raised the forks up to the handlebars (after setting the adjustment on them first of course) and backed the front and rear preload off 100% I'm 5.6 / 30" inseam and 140# ... that's what worked for me.

  • @zone47
    @zone47 ปีที่แล้ว

    5'6er here and put a 2" lowering link in the rear, raised the forks in the front about 1.5" reduced the preload and could get the balls of my feet down both sides. It was good. The only prob was pulling into parking on a down slope... I'd have to just walk the bike back and around to get it going again. Great bike! I loved it.

    i don't get the point- so what effort did you made lowering 1,5 inch? - in my understanding, thats nothing- you can't even put your feet lully on the ground?? and by doing this you destroy bikes geometry

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว

      I lowered my YZ250 2-stroke 1.75 inches total, (1" in the seat, and .75" off the suspension rear and front), and it it probably just a tad lower than my lowest 250MX bike in the past, (still with 12" of suspension travel). Believe me, I can touch the ground now (I am 5'9" tall), and it handles better than any stock modern MX bike made today. Ricky Carmichael had his bike real low, and won 15 championships. Husky makes a 1" lower bike now (added to their line up), and MXA said they like it better,---but they don't know why. Of course they do. You don't need a berm to turn it. These tall bikes today are just irrational. Tall bikes do not run as well, and that is a matter of physics. For better performance though, you do need to do it right. I don't like "lowering links" They actually shift the travel up into your rear fender, and not actually reduce the amount of travel, (which you want to do as little as possible).

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว

      Tall bikes do not (turn) as well
