Leatherman Rev - Review
Summary: Leatherman Rev seems to be back on the market.
I made a video on the Rev about 7 years ago and it disappeared from YT.
Rev had been replaced about 2 years ago by an almost identical tool - the Bolster.
My local stores are once again selling the Rev.
So, here is a detailed video of what is good, and bad about the Rev.

    This tool has been discontinued, unfortunately. I an picking one up off a Japanese ebay seller for just over $100 shipped. I'm looking forward to carrying fewer items for incidental garden work, such as thinning fruit, cutting and building garden stakes, etc. The corkscrew does seem a little useless, at first, but I saw someone use it for untying tight nots, which was a real eye-opener. It will also hold a small phillips/flathead driver for small electrical work (wire terminals for 12-volt projects, eyeglass repair, etc). Thanks for posting some of the few Ranger 71 Gardener videos that are available :)

    I never gave it much thought before, but after watching this video, the idea of a light medium-sized ATV started to really appeal to me. According to dataminers, the big rectangular stone slab that it's usually used as a basis for 4-Big Wheeled vehicles weighs whooping 3,200 mass units (let's call them Hylian pounds), both the 3- and 4-Wheeled versions of the "Yiga chassis" weigh 3,000, whereas a Zonai Sled and Cart only weigh 600 and 400, respectively. This explains why your build is faster and so much more capable of traversing rough terrain. One idea I had is replacing the Carts for something bigger but not much heavier in order to have some cargo space available too. Looking at the spreadsheet, one good alternative could be the square "lattice" you can find around the map. Most notably in prebuilt aircrafts on sky islands, usually with 4 Fans, Batteries, and a Steering Stick attached to it. The lattice weighs the same as the Cart despite being considerably bigger, and it doesn't break, burn, nor conducts electricity. One good place to build this for the first time is the Outskirt Stable, where you can find 2 lattices, 4 Big Wheels, and a Steering Stick in close proximity. The big drawback of this version is that there are only 2 lattices in the entirety of the Depths, meaning you always will be expending 6 to 9 Zonaite whenever you Autobuild it. The other alternative I found were the "Wire Mesh" objects you can find in the Makasura Shrine. That is, the one in Kakariko Village that teaches the player to use Stabilizers to build catapults. The wire mesh with the bowl weighs 800 pounds, which is the same as two Carts or two lattices, but it's large enough to serve as a chassis on its own, meaning you only need to spend 3 Zonaite to recreate it each time. The L-shaped one is larger and heavier at 1,000 pounds, but its smaller perpendicular section can serve as a sorta windshield to block attacks coming from the front without additional parts if you place the Steering Stick right next to it. The drawback with these two is that they're metal objects, meaning you occasionally will require some sort of Shock Protection when fighting electricity-wielding enemies. On the flip side, you could wear something like the Lightning Helm and electrify the vehicle yourself with a Shock Emitter in order to use the vehicle as a mobile shock trap of sorts. Sorry for the long commentary, and thanks again for the idea.

    • @MasterYoist
      @MasterYoist หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like your thought process on this. For cargo, I actually put another cart up on the top horizontal like it's the roof to the vehicle. That way I just attach anything I pick up to that with Auto hand. I got to where I can make these using zero zonai. What are the things I do is I will go to the device place just to the east of the Eagle camp to the north of the Elden volcano depths. From there I pick up cannons construct heads and some of the parts for the assault vehicle. I put them on a wing and I rock it the wing over to the first device platform down by the lava. I attach everything else there. The most I've ever had to do was attaching beam emitters from my inventory. Thank you for watching and for your very insightful comment.

    • @MasterYoist
      @MasterYoist 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually, we use it for a lot of things in which we need small, shallow, round holes. Example: when we plant seeds, or transplant seedlings into the ground for our vegetable garden. We set the bottom of the tool where we want to put the plant and use the Weed tool to make the hole. Then, we drop the seed/seedling into the hole and use a foot to cover it over with dirt. This keeps us from having to bend/kneel to do the same task. At my age, all the bending/kneeling gets to be painful. Thank you for watching and commenting. Take care.

    I usually just drop the Shockblade and Hylian Shield for the shock trap. Once the Guardian is trapped, I light a Torch with the Flameblade and walk up to it. I have the Champions Tunic and Thunderhelm on for that. This is better because sometimes the Guardian moves out of the trap radius, so metal items can be moved with Magnesis, and I burn the Guardian with the Torch without hurting myself. I think Chuchu Jellies don't do as much damage as my technique because they alternate from one element to another compared to having both element simultaneously.

    Been though 3 of these models within 5yrs too. I stopped buying them cause their junk. These HB are designed with a soft cutting blade with hardly any edge from the factory, youll barely catch a finger nail on their cutting edge its so small, the units built to fail very quickly. There is no fair deal here, they cost $40 now, do the math you spending $100 everytime you turn around just to open a few cans & much more if you have kids & open cans a lot. Never let one kid touch it either not even your teens. They'll waste this one instantly for you. Compared to moms old elect opener that lasted over 40yrs with 5 kids abusing it daily, all our freinds & cousins did too. Yet moms old 70s can opener soldiered on! This opener is just trash! These corps can build great units to last a decade easy but they refuse just to make more money off junk. Why let them off so easy & keep giving them your hard earned cash with a smile? No Way! Stop buying their higher priced garbage until they build them much better, our landfills are over flowing with junk China products. Just buy a cheap hand held opener & toss it occasionally you'll save a fortune & take up less in landfills too boot. Its like paying them rent, returning with annual premiums of your hard earned cash is never okay. Geez! Time to fight back!

    Alternative, if the can is full, they didn't. If empty, they did. Pro tip, if it's on its side in the middle of the street its no longer your problem, full or empty

      Actually, in this region it is a problem. And, we want to know without leaving the house when we are having bad weather. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    No flag needed. Wheels towards the street before pick up, wheels towards the house after pick up. Of course, this is not for one of those lazy driver-robotic arm pick up deals.

      I agree. However, we are dealing with the robotic arm scenario where I live. Thank you for watching and commenting.

      Lazy lol those guys still do alot of physical work. Just because your township contract is automated and limits the trash doesn't mean every day of their week is like that....I have 3 fully automated days and 2 regular days on my route. I use the "lazy robotic arm" truck all 5 days but still physically take furniture, and all trash on 2 of the days the other 3 I take all bulk once a month and the truck doesn't pick it up I do by myself for 4000 customers a week.

    • @MasterYoist
      @MasterYoist 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't really have a problem with the guys or their vehicles or the job they do. I just wanted a way to easily tell which cans have already been emptied and which have not from a glance. Most of the year the weather is pretty bad here so I don't like going out until everything is already taken care of. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    • @djhiggins4431
      @djhiggins4431 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MasterYoist I didn't think you had any issues with the guys. I understand why you made what you did. My truck has the bucket in front of the cab dual steer so I drive on the left to and from route, switch over to the right and drive standing up, the arm is on the bucket on the right side and the bucket lifts up over the cab and dumps behind it from above. When I dump my cans I typically keep the claw low on the can so that the lids shut when I'm done but depending on circumstances I may grab it higher up which will leave the lid open. If the lid is left open on my routes its either bc the can was way over loaded, super heavy, to far away, or I don't like that customer or I broke down and I'm behind trying to catch up lol

    I see what you are saying. If you cut the hole out the 79 scale you can use bits but light duty stuff being one layer bits go in and can easily get cammed out. Even the one with the cutout for bits not made for a lot of torque and larger 1/4" sockets. Not intended for that. Have a good one!

    • @MasterYoist
      @MasterYoist 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True. Felix Immler showed on one of his videos that a single layer can withstand the torque to drill a 1" hole. But, I only do 1/4" at most and that is going through plastic or soft wood. Other than that, I don't really risk it. Thanks for viewing and commenting. Take care.

    I love victorinox swiss army knifes but they know those knifes have that feature already in them but covers it up with the grip. Why do that? That feature would make more sales for them just my opinion.

    • @MasterYoist
      @MasterYoist 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very true. Knives like the yellow Boatsman are at $200 now. Some people buy them for the big driver feature (mine was $127). If they showed the less expensive knives have this feature, the more expensive one might have less sales. Felix Immler showed that he can drill a 1" hole using just the blank, without the knife. So, they hold up well. Mine still get plenty of use. Thanks for watching and commenting.
