26040 starts recommission traction testing at Whitrope Heritage Centre near Hawick, Scottish Borders gaining traction for the first time on a heritage railway this month since being withdrawn from service on 4/12/92. Previously in 2005 traction was achieved on a single section of track bed. It’s been my absolute pleasure to achieve this.

'37042 Lives Again'
The latest vid in the '26040 lives again' series we bring you '37042 lives again'.
Finally after about 15 years since it last ran English Electric engined (12CSVT) 37042 ran today for x2 1 minute runs. So far so good.
It's been my utmost pleasure & privilege to bring you this & thanks go out to all the support & encouragement received.
A special thanks to the Lumley family & especially Jo Lumley for filming the inside footage, pics & commentary. 'Team work makes the dream work' as they say.
Of course there is still a lot of work to do not least to get it running on all 12 & smoothly !
They said it couldn't be done & wouldn't be done, especially with zero facilities other than what can fit in my small van.
Dream big & always believe in yourself.
37042 will return.

37042 is an English Electric 12 CSVT engined locomotive that has not ran since we now believe 2009. The support & encouragement received to date as enthusiasts will this loco to run has been at times for me a bit overwhelming but most touching. Tha...

I took my vintage Ferguson Tef20 diesel tractor (1952) to a local show & won the 'balance ramp' competition with a time of 1m12. The only other successful balance out of about 30 entrants was a 2m34. This being the time from entering the ramps to attaining a balance. Includes some footage of the event & my 3rd place in the attachments section for my rear forks fabrication.

26040 traction testing contd 2/7/22 (no sound )
มุมมอง 2.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
26040 driven slowly to enable a stock movement on 2/7/22. Immediate work now required is refreshing the traction motor padding (already bought) & traction oil box clean & refill. Testing of the brakes has highlighted further work in releasing. Good traction amperage was noted & no further concerns other than the above. It was a good day for 26040. Work continues apace. Amazing video, thanks for sharing! I wish I had a train and knew what to do with it - very impressive
Well done lads awesome achiement
@@Freebird67 thank-you. I'm actually watching it myself again just now 😊 I.
It runs good but being a diesel mechanic it sure sounds like it’s got a pretty good skip to it
I love this. I used to have a similar OO gauge Lima model when I was a kid. Well done for bringing this relic back to like. Old Scottish trains do interest me as my Granddad was a Highlander. Keep up the great work.
@@BritishRail60062 thank-you. I feel as if I've neglected 040 a bit this year but I'll be doing a Xmas special for this year & be chatting a bit more about the future. Thanks for the support. I.

@@Schlipperschlopper 'I think he's running' 😊
Did they prime the oil pressure before cold start and bleed the diesel lines?
My stomach tightens when you hit the starter. I’ll be watching.
Marcus did the 'starter button' & I've a bit footage of that to share. I did spin it over a few times on the local start at the engine side which was nerve wracking. I.
Is my understanding correct; the diesel engine is used to drive an electric generator. The drive wheels are electric. Is that correct?
Yes that is correct. 2 generators, main for x6 electric traction motors & an auxiliary for systems such as the compressors etc. I.

Doors open to stop the potentially explosive fumes as well
@@herrbohnen ventilation is always a good idea. It had been cranking for probably about 5 or 6 minutes all in with no sign of life at all so there was no fuel around sadly. With the decompressors out it was never going to start so all managed. Been there before. I.
How many litres is the engine?
From memory I worked it out to be 185 litres or thereabouts. Crazy tbh.

Great work hope you have it running soon, spent many years working on 37s at Immingham. Would have thought it would start when you racked it , looks to me like no fuel in fuel rail as governor/ run valve won't stop it running when racking

Can l ask why only run for a minute..
Lots of reasons mainly though that there were no water pumps in it & it was agreed that running for a couple of mins each time & checking in between for unforeseen events would be the best way forward. We really wanted to get on with it & keep moving forward. On a more pragmatic note the other guys had their work in the morning & it was getting late ! 😊 I.

Always end the videos before anything happens.
I always said it would be 'as it happens'. At the point of filming that's where we were with it. It shows the frustration I guess.
