Locust Gap Single Track Behind Parking Lot, Cliffside, and BS Hill
We end our day with some of the usual behind the parking lot. I warned Nate of the one single Matty and I did before being real sketchy and he accidentally found it. It was too late to warn him so I got a second shot at that one. A little less scary the second time, but still pretty high stakes if something goes wrong.
We stop at BS Hill, which for the most part is no more, and finish with a few singles on the way back to the parking lot.

Ashland North Single Track and Matty's Dumb Idea
มุมมอง 26816 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
We kick off at the top of a hill that no one followed me up last time we were at Ashland North. Matty and I take it until (from what we could tell) ends, and I explore solo after Matty fails several times at a loose, rocky, rooty hill. This definitely wasn't Matty's day. If he could get stuck, he would get stuck. With the limited amount of new content, the video ends with Matty's Dumb Idea.

Darkwater Single Track (Northeast)
มุมมอง 17528 วันที่ผ่านมา
Favoring much of the Northeastern section of Darkwater, Matty and I begin our day at my (Frank's Hill). It got its name many months ago as it was a hill I continually failed on. The logging out at that area appear to be finished, but there is so much of that side of Darkwater that has been wiped out. Shortly after we met up with a very speedy local who showed us some new places to check out and...

Ashland North Single Track Off of Parking Lot
มุมมอง 94หลายเดือนก่อน
We FINALLY found some single at Ashland North. To date, we never have. Finding everything we found today though does make me wonder how we consistently missed so much. There were a few hang ups early on, a dead end cliff, and some confusion on where we should all go, but it was a great start to our day.
Ashland North Single Track Over Rt61
มุมมอง 2.9Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Continuing our day, we head over 61 to see if we can find any single. We found one and entered in the middle of it somewhere, ran it back, and as far as we could. Navigating that area for other single is tricky since the coal piles have been shut down. This makes for no clear path to the far West side of Ashland North property.

Turning Coal into Diamonds at Locust Gap

Not literally of course, but this was a great little section we found and will absolutely return. We followed the orange trail in a very leafy valley out to a smaller to medium dragon back section. It was a little overgrown in some places but an absolute blast to ride. We likely missed some of the trail due to overgrowth so I'd be curious what a second inspection of the area would reveal.

      @@billcreek1234 Locust Gap and Burma have the best overall variety. Parts of each can be pretty nasty, but you're more likely to find something there that's not so deadly. At Locust Gap, I'd recommend heading across 54. It's pretty flat over there. At Burma, there's a section right off the parking lot that is pretty tame as well past the coal piles. There's also North of the parking lot at Burma bordering a watershed, but the entrance is tricky and continues for the first maybe half mile There's also this: th-cam.com/video/2QTmN88H-5s/w-d-xo.html if you haven't seen it at Ashland North over 61 BUT everything else at Ashland North that I've ever found is not beginner friendly. This is generalized advice; even the tame sections have some pretty wild stuff with a wrong turn or two. Hope this helps!

    Hello! We are working on a one like this right now. Isn’t it possible just to remove the glass like you did, and also to cut the NEW one from the frame with a wire. The idea is just not to cut off or heat the frame from the car

    • @weeblewobbles
      @weeblewobbles 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No. The exterior side seals need removed to cut the glass out and are therefore damaged. And the light strips for the sky lounge need broken off the glass as well, damaging them in the process.

      If I understand correctly, ALL of the glass is out. At that point, there's no more cutting because the clearance between the roof frame and the body is too tight. @@weeblewobbles It’s almost as much a workout as riding. You’ll be sore after 4-6 hrs of clearing brush and stone. I really enjoy the solitude and allows you to become more acquainted with the trails. I enjoy it almost as much as riding. I know, sounds weird. I’m sure we’ll cross paths out there. Ride safe!

    So, I’ve watched a ton of your vids. Yesterday I finally made it to locust gap and took single track over and around Ashland. Let me say, the vids don’t do the technical nature of the riding there justice. We cranked out 26 miles and I felt like I had been wrestling a bear and getting kicked in the nuts. Thanks for all of your vids, now I have some real context! 🥵

      Thanks for your support :) It really is wild out there. Suspension obviously soaks some things up but the real magic is in the image stabilization of the GoPro. There are plenty of times I get hung up and when I watch it back, it looks so stupid. You really can't truly understand what it's like out there until you're out there. My first day doing any of this kind of riding was about a year ago. And I passed out the second I got inside. It's a humbling place for sure.

    • @weeblewobbles
      @weeblewobbles 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you record with GPS enabled (GoPro), you have the option to overlay them in Quik. It's all done on the phone app and takes FOREVER to encode. I usually start with about 40 clips and the encoding/saving process takes about 14 hours. I believe it can now be done on Quik for Mac. I'm patiently awaiting Quik for PC which would probably cut those 14 hours down to about 30 minutes.

      @coalcountryrider 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@weeblewobbles I’ve thought about doing that but for half the money you can put an apex head with a jetting kit to pair which would certainly be better than just a new carb. Did you ever think about going that route? If so why did you chose lectron instead?

    • @weeblewobbles
      @weeblewobbles 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@coalcountryrider I bought beRad's kit which included the Lectron. Looked to be the best for the value. Includes the Lectron, Apex head, Boysen Reeds, and a funnel web air filter. Never had a problem since and the bottom end is sooooo much better. Basically, the bottom end exists. It had nothing before. It also went from gallons to liters in fuel economy. Where I used to put a gallon, I'm only putting a liter now.
